Actually this not only because of education costs, rent costs, expensive living etc this is because people want to live high standards living and high quality education which is not possible if we have more child. If we are ok with simple living and just normal education there would be no problems in having more child.

Thank you so much for this video! It helps to understand the way people live in SK. I live in the Netherlands (a small country in Europe) and our government financially supports having children through childsupport, financed childcare and student grants. Much greetings❤❤❤

Very interested to hear these views of the “younger generation” in Sth.Korea. I live in the U.K. and I notice the same views here but it seems that our young people seem to want more material things first in their lives before marriage and babies…. I feel sure that your next interview with older Koreans will be different. Such is progress…….. Children really do enrich one’s life🥰🇬🇧

Yeah, but having children to enrich your life seems kinda selfish. Like using them as a happiness machine. Kinda cruel. Plus, do you really want to have kids when you are worried about having enough money to cover your own expenses? Why make them suffer hunger or a cramped home or not afecta I’ve medical attention? Think how bad dogs have it with neglect, now imagine children suffering those neglects because of people wanting to have a fun human baby pet

i'm also from the uk, none of my friends have even thought about wanting kids (including me). we decided quite early on that we want to be able to enjoy ourselves, and not worry about caring for a child for the rest of our lives. we know from watching our parents that it costs not only money, but time - they don't have the energy for their own interests and hobbies! we don't want to live like that.

Good to show this info to outsiders who don’t understand the situation. Academy fees for 1 kid can be like 500-1,000 usd a month and almost all parents will put their kid into academies to keep up with other kids. The path to success (middle class) is narrow in Korea, so parents are basically investing everything so their kid can miraculously get into one of the top universities. So kids study from morning to midnight. Even today’s adults can barely afford to live comfortable, can’t afford a house, and then have to think about how to afford to retire.

The questions and the viewpoints of the people you interviewed were definitely thought provoking. I watch a lot of street interview channels and I often notice that people will reach out to try to take the microphone from the interviewer to talk, and in general the interviewer will still hold onto the microphone so that both people are awkwardly holding it while they answer the question...and I just thought it was kind of nice that you let the woman in the black top and tan skirt gently take the mic from you and hold onto it for the whole interview.

Low birth rate is a worldwide problem tho, especially in more developed countries. They created a system where you live to work and are now getting desperate bc they are getting out of living stock lol In my country they even tried to change the retirement age and postpone it to 5years more. So for men it will be 70yo lol It's getting wild

As an Asian I totally agree with this , money is the major reason behind low birth rate but some of the people who were part of this they want 2-3 child i guess it's impossible to raise them well in a middle class family with the minimum cost of 2500-3000 dollars at the present time.

50 kids in a class is insane. Within the UK we have about 30 depending on school density and some such, in a class and that's still to much. The problem becomes how well you can teach a large number of kids, why that doesn't work to well is kids need fairly close contact when being taught and need that more direct teaching. Because they can't be expected to just understand everything and can easily felt lost without proper guidance. The reason expensive schools have children with good grades is because there is less students to a teacher. Which gives the teacher more one on one time to help the kid.
@yj8641

50 kids in a class? Did anyone say that? My kids classes in Korean public schools have 16 in a class (elementary school), and 22 (middle school) . The number of students in a class is decreasing rapidly though 😅

I'm Italian-German and both countries with a very long life expectancy and lower birth rates. But Germany has had government funding for children until the age of 25 for years, Italy introduced it only a couple years ago and I believe it's only for the first years. Education is affordable, healthcare too. Still both countries, like any developed countries, have low birth rates... government need to find other solutions to keep funding the social network rather than having kids.

Thank u for this content❤ very helpful. U made a video before about dont expect life in korea to b like a kdrama. I was wondering When i watch stray kids candid vids they always show them being very affectionate and cute toward each other , is there any truth or reality to those gestures among korean male friends? Or r idols special cases? Im from the states and that would not b considered normal for guys here. Obviously theres exceptions but in general its not commonly seen. Is being affectionate commonly seen within male friend groups in real life??
@yj8641
@yj8641 10 месяцев назад
Yes. Koreans, men and women, especially young people, don’t have strong sense of personal space . They touch and hug a lot. Korean women fold arms each other too. Korean men start to have more personal space when they get older (middle age)
@fatiharmin1301

There's a drive to be the best that people are expected to use all their resources to push their children, but there's only so many spaces available. Statistically, a bunch of these kids will not reap the rewards of all that energy spent trying to be at the top. Dare I say it, but it needs to be okay to be average.

Did I read that correctly? $3000 monthly for schooling and/or tutoring? That's how much I spend on rent, utilities and gas for my car. It's true that housing costs and rent are going up but pay is the same.

Its really all subjective depends on the kind of life yoh want to live. If you want the finer things of life which more and more people seem to want in these developed countries then you will want fewer kids. Cause we think they are in the way.

Thank you for more information... You revealed one thing, that cost of living spoiling the human generation. We love Korean culture and people but they have hug stress about life and money it's very sad, I am sorry for that. Korean government please consider the education fees and people salary because it's the major problem.. so government will fix the education fees and minimum wage for every employee it helps to reconsider their thoughts about marriage and child birth.
@yj8641
@yj8641 10 месяцев назад
The government can do something about salary and work hours, but they cannot fix the educational cost problem. The public education (from elementary to high school) is free. It’s the private education cost (hakwon- afterschool/clam). Korean parents are very competitive because it’s homogeneous and competitive society, and they are willing paying for the expensive Hakwon. During dictatorship, the government banned private education (tutoring), but it’s not dictatorship anymore, and whatever policy the government comes up with ended up as failure. It’s the nature of Korean people in Korean society. It’s not going to change soon. 😢

Korea is a wonderful country but it really concerns me as a human, yes Korea is expensive and very expensive for families, Because of pressure to make a good living, money and career plus the society expectations these all things are hard to achieve in such a small period of time, I can truly understand the issues of Korean people, hope to see Korean population growth

I think is all in the culture and also the time you were born sometimes you were Todd that you know times were scared and that you don't need to be reproducing like that you know like focus on your career focus on things that will be an asset when you are older I understand that part but in the long run all of that hasn't really contributed is not a positive things to say to a young adults you're trying to make them focus on things that yes they are very very important about the same time you're pushing them away from looking forward to having a family you're turning their instincts of reproducing and starting their own family it's being shut off you're scaring them into it

Nope sike, I'm not saying being poor make you an abuser. But I would feel like one if I brought a bunch of children I couldn't afford into the world. Generational poverty is a thing. Most People live and die in their parents financial class. Not giving birth to people that will continue to be poor.
