O.o never had this many customers out of power for a cat one hurricane.... Hmmm we've had bigger and smaller storms without this much problem. I've seen worse damage after Alicia, lke, Allison, Harvey, etc and it didn't take this long so what the real reason because I'm not seeing the damage I saw with those storms as an insurance adjuster. So don't feed me a line of BS. NOT TO MENTION I'VE TALKED TO MY COUSIN WHO IS A LINEMAN AND HE SAYS THIS STORY IS JUST THAT A BS STORY. TIME TO GET AMY DAVIS, RANDY WALLACE, AND MARIO DIAZ TO FIND THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON.
I live in Houston it's not the storm or the grid. It's centerpoint. All the others such as entergy have been great and was well prepared. I'm staying at a friend's house 3 miles from home. He has full power but I have centerpoint
They need to start keeping trees and vegetation trimmed and a certain distance from poles and lines . I know I'm making a simple , but obviously it wasn't being done. Those workers in the field are putting in some hard days though. My hats off to them , Hope they stay safe.👍
@@jameswalden3871 when you say North Texas , how far north do you mean? , because we got a lot of brushy and wooded areas in the Houston area. Houston kinda always seemed like swampland.
They love to talk about how they don't have power at their house like they don't have a expensive generator hooked up, sure you don't have line power but ya you have power
Please, please, please pray for ALL lineman and there families. These lineman are working long hours in this heat. Also, there's a lot of pressure on them too.
Maybe they’re doing everything they can do NOW, but what were they doing all along to prepare? Things like tree trimming and line maintenance. Poles all over the place are always tilted and completely not maintained. So all those regular maintenance items are neglected and they act surprised so many are without power. Typical more money for management and letting the chips fall where they may for the consumer, especially in a monopoly.
4:58 This interview just confirmed my suspicions. Centerpoint confessed to having too much vegetation/trees around distribution centers. What does this mean? They expect us to do work for them but don’t tell us directly. The less we know the less work they have. We “customers” need to contact them to handle the trees near the power lines. It’s “free”. Keep calling them, ensuring they are doing their jobs. I’ve had issues with this. Anyone with trees by power lines please contact them once they’ve completed returning power to everyone. Keep calling in. Check in. Double check in. Triple check in. I had to do that for 8 months to ensure my trees were dealt with. Check in again even after someone comes and says yeah I’ll put in an order for tree service. 2x after being told so I was told by their offices that no order was inputted 🤦🏻♀️ Last week a tree service contractor for Centerpoint finally trimmed my trees. They said it wasn’t my trees that would cause a power outage. My neighbors’ trees would cause a power outage. Yeah Centerpoint already knew that but didn’t handle it. They won’t handle it unless you bug them to do their job. It’s a monopoly so you have to be on top of them. They have nothing to lose but we have people that we can lose due to their negligence.
Tree trimming is currently an expense. They’ve successfully lobbied to charge customers more for it by it being a “capital” charge. They’re waiting for the new capital rule to take effect, so they can charge you more for basic maintenance & tree trimming. They hold ratepayers hostage to pump earnings even more
@@rachelhall6287 🤦🏻♀️ That’s terrible. Good to know now so people can get on top of it now before any changes. If anyone has a lawyer for a friend there’s gotta be a way to sue them. They haven’t updated anything on their web about any charges.
Very strange. I had a comment I wish I had saved a copy of. I really hope it was a glitch @KPRC 2! I basically stated that it’s good to know about these supposed fees/charges. Bc we should do something about it now. They haven’t updated their website about any charges or fees. If someone is friends with a lawyer they should sue.
Centerpoint has terrible disaster planning and preparation this is becoming all too common and we as Houstonians have no other choice for an energy provider
Centerpoint was not prepared and didn't forecast. He stated, he thought the storm was going somewhere else? I hope this is a learning lesson. Even though this was a Cat 1. This was a bad storm. Mostly, hard wind.
FIRE him!!! Unprepared? This was one of the minor storms predicted for this season. There are 4 major storms predicted in addition to this. Additional workers need to understand CenterPoint standards? There are none.
Yea ok 16 hour shift and how many hours from that are they actually working? Yesterday 07/09/2024 I saw a Centerpoint truck parked on Turner and Hardy occupied by 1 person just sitting in that truck for 2¹/² hours and he did not get out not once . Centerpoint sucks yet they want to charge us fees for everything and anything yet they can't do their job. I tell you what this new mayor needs to do something asap just because he bangs on his chest like a gorillamdt them meetings doesn't mean he scares people. You got elected do your job!!!!!
They have been driving through our neighborhood for 3 days .... Nothin. We have been getting emails saying we have been restored.... And it's been 3 day.... Nothin. Not complaining...just don't make promises where we're looking at you with the "lies you tell" side eye👀
Uh. CP… should have been prepared. CP should have been trimming trees and working on the infrastructure since last major storm. I knew it was held together with gum and wire…but come on.
Why the hell are you just now working through priority lists? It is hurricane season. Like many other prep items, all of this should have already been done. The incompetence of this bunch is truly jaw dropping.
U dont build a monopoly by being honest. When I switch to reliant I thought I got away from centerpoint turns out Center point owns reliant this is a monopoly end of story.
They talked around the BIG QUESTION..WHY is the electricity in such cheap standards.. WHY FID THIS HAPPEN WITH SMALL STORM..WE HAVE HAD WAYY WORSE.. FIRE BAD DECISION MAKERS..FIRE CEO.. NO ANSWERS GIVEN.. THANK THE LINEMEN
Seriously I haven’t seen any of those 12000 around my neighborhood even when they said today they are doing the evaluation. So hard to believe what the Center Point is saying. Also review your communication strategy, you start communicating tool late and absolutely no meat in any message. Hard to think you are a serious company
The resilience plan is being used to reclassify basic maintenance expenses to “capital” costs, so they can charge ratepayers more for what they were doing before they got taken over by this executive group in 2020. They stopped doing basic maintenance in the last year, so maintenance costs can be delayed to under the new rule & charge you more.
This is the same guy that sold out Texas during the deep freeze, people died and noone was fired or held accountable. These criminals are not doing their job. Ive seen the 50+ trucks that are being denied work in Houston and its extremely questionable.
Center point needs more Mexican employees they dont take no brakes wile somebody has no light.not been nasty but theres millions of people suffering because they taking a breaks every 15min.
Strange. The map was affected by the amount of traffic. Sir do you know the amount of people around the world visiting fb website. Your map website is going to crash do to this.
Composite pole? They have been around for decades, why did they not implement them after Ike? The wood pole that had not been replaced fell down, why? Maybe because it was not designed for wind because it was under 60’ tall? Maybe the composite pole was designed for wind? CNP had this wind discussion after Ike and decided to continue not designing for wind under 60’. Now they have realized their mistake and started designing for wind under 60’ tall, why the change, a little too late? Maybe they were wrong after Ike and wind does blow below 60’? Just ask any Houstonian. That is about 14 years we missed out on system upgrades that would have mitigated the damage. Bad call CNP. I hope the PUC grills them on this discussion and we get answers.
He said he comfortable with jus hitting a million wow wat about the rest of us and our families get all i dont see any on the road after six hes lying about breaks they jus hanging out in the parking lot
Be patient! It's not as simple as people think it is. Even if all those thousands of skill worker are here pre stage I don't think it'll speed it up any better. I went out and see a gigantic tree laying on an entire power line with broken power poles. I look at that an say yeah peeps be patient. Multiply tree on power lines and damage power poles by thousands all over the path of hurricane an you got a nightmare scenario. If y'all complaining try go and try removing one of those tree yourself see how it feels experience the difficulty and then come back here and complain. Only people to complain at is our selves for not being prepared before the storm. Generator, gas, water, food, portable propane gas stove, food, medicine etc...etc... The news channel gave us days way ahead of the storm to prepare and everyone sitting on the couch and saying like nope it ain't going to hit Houston. We'll it did. Lesson learn. Don't blame be prepared.
They are ill-prepared. They should ban trees near power lines. This is the worst outage in Houston's history. Gas stations should have backup generators that must top off before a hurricane and tankers should be on standby to supply. The whole system needs to be revamped.
Who is taking interview, he is sounding like pet. If you listen his question, you will feel same what I am feeling. Like they making relationship!! Trash both.
Centerpoint is trash. 4 days now with no power in a neighborhood with mo “down trees” that he is claiming is the issue. This is all about being PC and towing the company line. I would go with someone else if they didnt have a monopoly on the market. It was a garbage plan and poor execution.
This isn't about political party affiliation anymore. EVERY POLITICIAN has been corrupt in this. Democrat run city of Houston keeps Centerpoint around regardless if their track record. Time for you to stop living the lie of party affiliation, they're all the same and don't care for you.
