Kraftwerk - Das Model, Na Sowas - ZDF German Television (original airing 29/03/1982) Satelite HD Recording of retransmission on 01/05/2012. (youtube message: viewing blocked by EMI for German audience, also no embedding allowed)
I'm learning German and I had this moment while listening to the English version of this song where I realised that I know all the words in the first line (except "Model", which appears to be the same in both languages) : "She's a model and she's looking good", which I translated to "Sie ist ein Model und sie sieht gut aus". I then immediately listened to the German version and was very excited to hear him singing the same thing. This is especially a big deal to me, because my primary reason for learning German is to be able to listen to Kraftwerk, Falco, Peter Schilling and others artists who sing in German and to be able to understand them.
I started listening when I was 14, now I'm over 60 and it's still like the first time, the only music that immediately leads to another dimension. 👍🙏&🇭🇷
This song and kraftwerk changed by life. I emigrated from the US to Germany, spent 20 years there and had the time of my life (raving in the 90s!) I will always be endebted to kraftwerk for their beautiful craft and influence in my life.
What a great song, I love it! I put it into my "Shellshocked Radio - Recommendations" List: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tlfCm7pCU3Q.html Very well done!
40 years later they still sound like the music of the future fans, get inspired to focus on future, the best time of our lives, you could never grow old ever, but forever young just like this, awesome performers

I enjoy their robotic look, a little makeup too. I still listen to them and for me the Eighties sound and synthesizers influence a lot of popular music today. Kraftwerk are true originals...
They are fantastic...one of the first to bring synths mainstream but not the originals. Check Gershon Kingsley's original version of Popcorn...and the album he released in 1969 Music To Moog By.
They are, but let's not forget Raymond Scott, Daphne Oram, Tom Dissevelt etc from the 50s and 60s who were making pioneering electronic music. Ralf Hutter actually went to the Phillips fair and heard Tom Dissevelt I think in Holland as a kid (Phillips had an experimental music studio for electronic musicians) so he would have been exposed to such music early on. The first true electronic music was made in the Soviet Union in the 1930s though.
@@joe22589 Insults are the words of those who have no real arguments. However, it is presumably more the historical ignorance of you. And in this case you should keep calm and silence.
@@kermitfrosch6559 as a german I feel proud that my country was peacefully reunited after nearly 45 years. The Kanzler's name is Merkel, you idiot. Call people by their name - even if you do not like them. Idiot!
About the reaction of the audience (or the lack of): This show was on mainstream TV in Germany and at that time the studio audience had no idea which artists would be there when they bought their tickets. It was not announced in advance because the producers would not know either. If you put any band in front of an audience that is basically a random mix of people you will probably get the same result.
But look at the audience. The TV sender didn't cast young people, but old couples, which are probably more entertained by Oktoberfest folk music, rather than by avantgarde pop music. This makes the performance situation bizarre.
You never know. Kraftwerk had been around for 8-10 years at that point and I’m sure were well known in Germany by then, so most of the audience probably knew who they were at least and some may have even enjoyed their music already. Kraftwerk weren’t exactly Duran Duran or Depeche Mode with regards to fashion and dressed sort of conservatively themselves with their button down shirts and ties and sometimes full business suits (ala Trans Euro Express) onstage (back then).
I love this song. Kraftwerk was a legendary band and very experimental but with a great good taste harmonic and melodic in their songs. That’s why people love their songs easily.
This is great because they were new and did not try to sound British or American. They actually carved out a third road which didn’t follow the Trends of the day. They even had German Haircuts.,and European melodies along with the synths and electronic beats. And some how it worked because they had a clean, clear sound with catchy melodies! They were original and they were pioneers of what is now called EDM music. Kudos to them!!
+Kameron Wraith du Kemp They were pioneers of modern popular mainstream electronic 'music' maybe, but british bands like Yes, ELP, Floyd etc. etc. were doing experimental synth music more than a decade before this stuff I prefer the sounds of Tangerine dream, more evocative, less pop, less drum machine Nevertheless, the Model is a great piece of music and Kraftwerk are uniquely stylish
Sounds like you're German? 😄 "actual" does not mean "aktuell", it means "tatsächlich". But yeah I agree, their music is still contemporary, or better said ahead of its time.
Absolutely fabulous-I remember buying the 7' single and the Man Machine album when I was 10 years old-still as authentic and timeless today as it was then.
Hallo Twingo Ich habe jetzt Tränen in den Augen. Ich war 16 Jahre wo das rauskam. Was für eine geile Zeit. Ich habe Kraftwerk geliebt. Danke für das Video reinstellen.👍✌️
Ralf: Wolfgang, you will play the synthesizer, no drum machine for this show. Wolfgang: But I want to use my electric batons! Whaaaa Ralf: They will scare the Bingo audience! Wolfgang: So what? I don't care, I want my batons! Whaaaaaaaa! Ralf: Just shut up and make believe you are playing, you spoon! Wolfgang: Fine! But I'm gonna look mad all through the song. And years from now I'll write a book about how mean you were to me. Ralf: Spoon.
@@javena45 Kraftwerk is not rock either. And what's wrong with Jay Z? I actually think there are more rock guitars and rhythms in Jay Z's back catalog than in Kraftwerk's.
@@bencolemanart kraftwerk played their intruments ..rappers dont. U get it? There shuld be a hip pop hall of fame separately...jay z aiint rock n roll all he did was sampled others music most rappers did also
Слушал всё - Uriah Heep , Pink Floyd , Supermax , Rockets , Space , Dschinghis Khan , Arabesque , Barrabas ............ (На "The Model" и "The Robots" сделал клипы).
I couldn't imagine hearing this for the first time...electronica music has been so deeply influence by these guys. The Beatles of Electronica, without a doubt.
Man machine , I remember playing their songs so loud , my mom storms in and brake the vinyl record . Love and respect from Egypt 🇪🇬 Ps My mother is a German
The band look more bored than the audience, I guess expressionless boredom is a German trait, they were a pretty odd bunch when I was over their in my army day's 1960-62, Teenagers with half their face painted white, the other half painted black, dressed in leather jackets and purple velvet trousers, walking around trying to not smile, or speak, keeping themselves to themselves. Literally screaming " Look at us, Look at me" but without saying a word, I was over there again in 1983 and the fashion had changed a bit but the teenagers were still an odd bunch of weirdos, carrying ghetto blasters around with the speakers hanging out of the front on wires, no idea what that was all about, also they wore odd shoes
The Fathers of Dance........I remember going into my local record shop forty years ago and hearing this song...I was fifteen and my head was blown........I thank Kraftwerk for that experience

They’re so young and awkward on live stage, yet had no idea how far they would eventually pushed musical boundaries and influence future generations of musicians.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Karl looks a lot like Jim Parsons!!! This band is absolutely amazing! We definitely would not have Daft Punk and other electronic bands without these guys!!
Fantastic performance of their brilliant and most famous hit, they look so alive here, the close-up studio camera showed great detail of their most famous 80s line-up.
I just watched them in one of the first recordings. A transition from using primitive beats with modern instruments of the 70s to now a mesh of simple more modern melody's with even newer technological instruments. An evolving act and entertainment, yes that's rock and roll and worthy of the hall of fame.
