There's actual no playback - there are sequences they trigger, but everything can be manipulated in real time by the controllers, and all the sequences are triggered "live" also - it's not like there's a tape or other recording running somewhere. And none of the sequences are "audio" - they are note data that is fed to the sound generators and generated in real-time also. Ralph also likes to play all the melodic parts himself as well as sing the parts that make sense to do live.
I love how Henning is just vibing at the very beginning Also, is it just me or an intro like this is just much cooler and more powerful than walking in on Numbers? Like, this one has build up, everyone joining one by one, already on stage, etc.
R.I.P. Florian.
From Brazil Kraftwerk marked my youth since 1977, because of computing jingles and robot sounds in the radio stations. R.I.P. Florian Schneider, rest in bits & bytes. Sorry for my english. 🎼🎵🎶✌🤓
L'enfer du Nord Paris-Roubaix (Tour de France, Tour de France) La Cote d'Azur et Saint-Tropez (Tour de France, Tour de France) Les Alpes et les Pyrénées (Tour de France, Tour de France) Dernière étape : Champs-Élysées (Tour de France, Tour de France) [Verse 2] Galibier et Tourmalet (Tour de France, Tour de France) En danseuse jusqu'au sommet (Tour de France, Tour de France) Pédaler en grand braquet (Tour de France, Tour de France) Sprint final à l'arrivée (Tour de France, Tour de France) [Verse 3] Crevaison sur les pavés (Tour de France, Tour de France) Le vélo vite réparé (Tour de France, Tour de France) Le peloton est regroupé (Tour de France, Tour de France) Camarades et amitié (Tour de France, Tour de France)
It's pretty clear that they are playing the songs behind the podiums and not just pressing a button and then not doing anything, although it's definitely not as impressive as them bringing their entire studio with them like they did in 1981 (although that's probably why they didn't perform live for a decade). Still sounds good though, I've been to a Kraftwerk concert myself (and actually preferred the way it sounds to the aforementioned 1981 tours but I think that's just my personal preference) Also it's amazing how after nearly 20 years Tour de France Étape 2 still sounds futuristic
One of the most influential bands of the last 40+ years. David Bowie wanted them to tour with him back in '76...V-2 Schneider in Heroes tribute to Florian Schneider...too bad he decided to quit the band. Great music anyway.
What people forget is that kraft werk did their music in the era when there werent powerful sequencers or computers. So, while using synthetic, they had to produce the music mostly manually playing the synth, not thru computer editing...
@@kraftwerklover69 the robots wasn't played fully live from like 1991 on on video you can see sitting them with many crt tv's and big laptops to steer music and robots
That’s a very cool angle of view! Wonder how the videographer managed to do this video this long time ... Ralf would never give his permission doing that ... 😉
Good Evening, Assuming this footage was taken by a "ticket holder" the ticket holder can take whatever footage he/she is able to get. I am really thankful for this visual perspective. : )
This is actually a pretty revelatory angle you have here. Until now, I was convinced they did little more than wear the suits and post Instagram photos during live performances.
You'd be surprised. By the looks of it, they're doing most of the sounds through software, but I think Ralf (farthest left) is using a traditional synthesizer, albeit a modern one. Most of the other guys' stations consist of computer/iPad programs and USB controllers
9:31 That is one complex-looking software synthesizer. Couple of things, 1) Was it developed for the present-day 3D shows, or could it have been used back in their 2002 shows when they first got their VAIO laptops? I've heard rumors that they used software like Kontakt and Halion back then but I doubt their extensive use. 2) Hard to tell if it could be a Reaktor synth or a stand-alone synth. Trying to decide if this is an all-in-one synth, where all of the sounds come from it(bass, leads, etc), based on the amount of layers that can be used. This is highly fascinating to me, even if we'll never see something quite like this available commercially.
Also, I have listened closely to their music. Every audio instrument that you hear from one song is not the same in another. For instance, the bass that Henning plays in The Model is not the same bass that plays in autobahn(although they both sound very similar). The keys instrument that plays the melody in this song, Tour de France, while sounds similar to the one in Radioactivity, is not the same. You will also never hear the same Snare drum twice in two different songs. So what I am trying to say, is that in their 2 hour concert, no sound is recycled. Can someone please tell me if I am wrong or not on this? Of course they could quite possibly add a lot of effects to their instruments to make it sound different(and they are just messing with my ears), but I highly doubt that. So my main point, is that Kraftwerk has to only have the most advanced pieces of VST synths in the world to do this, which makes it incredible to hear.
Yes they might use reaktor etc. Now probally same they don't seem to use real synthesizer their keyboards seem to be midi controlers mainly Henning's and Fritz controler Ralf too probally
Thanks, I was curious about that to? Kraftwerk is my all time favorite group! I designed my DJ stands to look like theirs when I do events DJ ROBOTRON..check out my dedication mixes with a few of their tracks! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8tDATn72d5o.html
Hi. there is a kraftwerk rig rundown gear page from early days to uptodate alot of early stuff was modified ( hacked and rebuilt or custom made ) wolfgang flur ..biography i was a robot is a very good read as well
I loved Kraftwerk in the 80's and love today their avantgarde music so far they were avantgarde. Now they lack the "physique du rol" and theyr music is no more modern. They should stop, knowing to have changed music by bringing new horizons. They should really stop now! Their times are passed!
But when modern music is Avicii, David Guetta, Pitbull, Martin Garrix etc., I'm glad Kraftwerk is as modern as they want to be. That's why Ralf hangs out with Juan Atkins and not with guys I mentioned before.
Matt K people say that with every generation of music. Yes there are bad artists but that doesn't mean everyone who does music now is the same as those assholes on the radio
