Kraid 's history in Metroid before Dread

I'm looking forward to seeing Kraid in dread when I play it! This was really interesting I honestly would have assumed he would appear more!

I appreciate the history here of the character. I play through all those games but I never really thought of it in the context of the greater scheme of things. And now that dread is out and I've experienced with that game does with it, I appreciate it even more.

my problem with grade is that he never gets any real story elements. he's there, and you kill him, and then he's gone. well Ridley got to do all this cool stuff. Craig needs more story to him

The only bosses I remember having trouble with are yakuza and nightmare, and Draygon. Kraid and ridley are always fun to fight but not hard. Wish they brought back Draygon and yakuza because they whooped me first attempt.

Most ppl actually remember Kraid more than Ridley because Kraid is always the first huge boss u fight in the early games even if u haven't ever beaten any of the games , ur going to remember Kraid , most ppl that never beat any of the games don't even make it far enough in the games to discover Ridley

Super Metroid was my first Metroid game back then. That was a bad ass battle with an unforgettable bad ass boss theme.

Honestly find it funny how the big bosses of the Space Pirates keep coming back now matter how horribly you supposedly kill them. Take Ridley for example, Samus killed him numerous times, blasted him to bits, shoved him down a vertical tunnel Gandalf/Balrog style, and straight blew him up, yet he keeps coming back looking more and more terminator every game. Would love to see Kraid get the same treatment becoming more disfigured and cybernetic as he cheats death just to spite you. He is after all one of the big bosses of the most notorious scourges of the galaxy.

Zero mission is my fav'

I actually beat Metroid on NES for the first time the other day. Kraid was a butt to beat... maybe he would have been a bit easier if I had the Varia Suit before fighting him (which I didn't know was in the game at the time lol). Ridley on the other hand was a joke. But at least he became a formidable boss in later Metroid games.

I've always pronounced "Samus" sh-ay-miss or just shaymiss. Edit: i always thought kraid's boomerangs are fingernails lol.

Kraid isn't a single enemy. It's a species. In Super Metroid there are even baby Kraids that guard doors.

So that still has me questioning why the Chozo have captured Kraid or another of Kraids species and enslaved him on ZDR, just to test bio weapons on??? That doesn’t really make sense. Also you forgot to mention how both Metroid and super Metroid, there are mini Kraids. So are they his kids like how king Bowser has his kids, and nieces/nephews attacking you?

Maybe Kraid was cloned.

Nintendo has a ton of continuity errors in their games which is why I hate it when they retcon things. I'm only going to say what I know and it is in no way shape or form cannon remember we're talking about nintendo retconning things. To my knowledge They said that the prime series happened after super metroid. Ridley is a cell type character, Cell from dragonball Z who can regenerate from a single cell. Ridley himself said this either in a instruction manual, comic or manga. He stated after he killed samus's parents and orphened her blowing up the colony that his cells fed on the dead cells of other organisms which brought him back to life. Therefore he always has a chance of coming back and returning. As for when they found meta ridley they were rebuilding him on frigate Orpheon to which nintendo said it was orbiting Zebes before it blew up. Why they made him metal I really don't care I look at it as we can't wait for you to regenerate your entire body so here's some extra parts. Do note I do like his growth cycle showing in Other M. In nintendo's retcon of metroid 2 ridley shows up as the last boss and partly metal which was stupid imo not because he's metal, but she delivers the metroid to Ceres station and Ridley comes there anyways taking away any mystery that Super metroid had in the beginning as to the culprit of the attack. Basically you had Ridley in the first game, no Ridley second game, and surprise ridley in the third game. Instead they had ridley in game 1 game 2 and game 3 which feels overused. In the prime series they actually did the same thing ridley in the first game absent in the second and in the third just like super metroid ridley was the first boss opener and it was amazing! I own the original metroid 2 and it was good on it's own Also shout out to AM2R they went above and beyond on that final boss that's a remake, it was perfect!! There is also a point in the comic or manga where mother brain refers to her minions as simple beasts. She's referring to Kraid Ridley and the other bosses while they are animals somewhere they state that they have like a 300-400 IQ. I can't remember for sure but I would have to boot up Prime again to see if the hologram in Metroid Prime's log stated if or not Zebes was blown up or not, as it would be another continuity error. The hologram can be found in the space pirates base in phendrana drifts. I don't know why they gave ridley a ship in Zero mission the damn guy can fly in space. They proved that in super metroid when he flew out of Ceres Station and in metroid prime even though he was mostly metal, he can obviously survive re-entry. okay lets lay it out: Metroid/Zero Mission Metroid 2 Return of Samus (Gameboy)/ Metroid 2 Remake/AM2R (which is a better remake) Samus acquires the baby metroid!!!!!! * Prime Series could not have happened between this because then Samus would be carrying the baby metroid all over the place with her Tallon IV, Aether, Norion, Bryyo, Elysium, Pirate Homeworld. Therefore it has to have happened after Super Metroid! A metroid grows very quickly therefore not possible!* Super Metroid (Metroid 3) Metroid prime Hunters DS Metroid prime Pinball Metroid Prime Metroid Prime 2 Metroid Prime 3 (Sylux ship in ending) Metroid Other M (ADAM dies becomes skynet) Metroid federation fighters (that stupid chibi game that nobody talks about and I don't own it!) Metroid Fusion (Metroid 4) ( Also Samus saved the animals) Metroid DREAD (Samus still retains the ship that she retained from metroid fusion showing clear signs of proper continuity) I'm writing this and I have not finished DREAD yet. I am something of a writer so when I spot continuity errors I have to make note of them and point them out. Also and my first girlfriend gave me her Metroid 2. Also don't take this as criticism or personally I just like people to have the right information.

A boss that big should have more hit points. Kraid was an embarrassingly easy boss fight in Super Metroid.
