I mounted today the Kraken quick release set and was surprised, how sriff the whole system is. For me it is a great advantage as I leave the whole foil assembled for transport in my car. In my eye the only disadvantage is the increased weight of the whole foil set...quite much more heavy than the former set I used with the same front wing and stabilizer. I belive mainly becaused by the heavier furelage with a much stronger connection. And the 92 cm mast is super stiff 👍🏼

Nicely presented, however not many of us leave our fuselages connected to a spare mast, and I would love to see you put them in your car fully assembled ;). Perhaps its just me, but I'm fairly sure that based on the two setups you have demonstrated, I would need to move the mast position. The 799/483 would have loads more lift then the race foil setup and therefore the mast position would need moving too! Normally when I change foil setup on a single day , I don't change the mast length, therefore the time to do this would be the same as the original design. Also, If I were to use a race mast, it would be with a race board and shorter masts with a freeride board, therefore the interchangeable mast with quick release sounds great but in reality not a big game changer for most. Having already recieved my first Kraken mast, I can confirm is is very very stiff yet not as thick as the 2 series. I'm looking forward to using it but wonder if my jumps will be impacted with the extra weight? Finally, it would have been great if there was an adapter that would allow all old fuselages to fit the new masts and vice versa. My 670 wing can not be used with the Kraken system as there isn't a fuselage that will fit :(.

Hello Steve, thanks for your comment. Clearly, as you may have noticed, the video shows a rather extreme example, in which the user does not change the board and does not move the mast when switching between two kits dedicated to different activities and disciplines. This was made simply to show you a Time Test in a practical situation. The example relating to pro riders, on the other hand, is quite realistic, as it is true that to optimize times they arrive in the regatta with very similar kits but for different wind conditions, and having a Quick Release System may actually help them. The key point of the Kraken Quick Release System is the speed and comfort with which you can perform a repetitive action such as mounting the mast on the board. And this remains true even if you only own one kit with the Kraken Quick Release System and you don't need to switch between more of them. Any kind of further configuration on the position of the plate on the board can be performed even if the mast is upgraded with the Quick Release System. Finally, the Q01K - Kraken Quick Release System remains a completely optional upgrade, which SABFOIL can recommend to everyone given the advantages it can offer in relation to its convenience. P.S. If you are keen on the W670 wing, we recommend that you consider the W671 which has very similar characteristics and is compatible with all T6 fuselages, both of Kraken and 2021 range.

@@sabfoil Thanks for finding the time to reply. The problem I have with changing from my 670 setup to 671 Is that currently I use it both with my 106 and 91 (same fuselage). If I change it to a 671 and want to use it with the kraken mast and 106 then I would need 2 different fuselages and end up with the original fuselage and 670 as duplicate for the 106. I suppose I could replace the 106 with a 103 but will need to sell the 106 first. I find it a pity that there wasn’t consideration that would allow existing Sab Foil users to use their exiting fuselages, with the aid of an adapter, on the new Kraken masts. Also it would have been nice to have had backward compatibility allowing the old masts fit the new Kraken fuselages. I have purchased my first Kraken setup but now finding it hard to got rid of my older setups as not everything is compatible (perhaps you can offer a buyback option?)

Hi. Very well documented. Agree completely with Steve. The issue of having in my case to buy 2 new fuselages as well as 1 or 2 masts, has me considering other brands which I’ve already purchased now for winging. And not sure I will do the upgrade for kiting despite owning 3 fuses, 6 wings and 3 stabilisers from Sabfoil. I don’t think Kraken was necessary, what was/is necessary was to make your masts stiffer to keep up with your competition.

The advantage to the Quick system for me would be in windfoiling in hard to access areas. Bringing the board and attaching the foil in those areas would be beneficial. But for most the switching of mast/complete foil is not much of use.

@irf888 Thanks for your comment and for your support over the years. The new Kraken Modular System range was not created for the Quick Release System itself, but to renew the entire SABFOIL technical sector, as it brings many advantages in many fields. To name just a few speaking about MASTS: - FASTER & SMOOTHER thanks to the new profile - MORE RESISTANTto both bending and torsion, thanks to the new design and carbon layering, while keeping weight comparable to the old range (M93K weighs the same as the M92) - Fully MODULAR: each mast can be used with all the fuselages of the Kraken range and you can switch between Plate and Tuttle - ALL ROUND and INTERDISCIPLINARY: the optimized design allows them to be used for each discipline. There are no more masts with dedicated profiles and connections. Clearly, to do that we had to change the connection of the masts to the fuselages to increase the strength and to create modularity, but given the needs of the market we should have done it anyway, so we took the opportunity to introduce something NEW, BETTER and FAR-SIGHTED. In addition we have maintained FULL COMPATIBILITY with FRONT-WINGS and STABILIZERS, so you can keep all of them and upgrade only mast and fuselage when you are ready to do it.

Can someone comment on the torsional and flex between the 93 Kraken mast and the Vento MW 95? To me the most important issue would be the connection of fuse/mast and mast stiffness and flex. Thank you.

@ZeroR2 With the Kraken range we have improved both the fluidity of the masts thanks to the new profile, and the mechanical resistance to torsion and bending. You will find the mast M93K as resistant as the MW95, but even more performing! In addition, masts are now interdisciplinary and there is complete compatibility with all the Kraken fuselages

If you leave the mast plate attached to the board, is there risk that the screws will corrode to the nuts in the track?
@stevefollis9454

Time will tell, but don't think I will leave mine connected any longer than a few weeks before checking!

Hello mirza34394123, steel screws are mechanical components naturally subjected to oxidation. We highly suggest to use lithium grease in order to avoid corrosion and to periodically disassemble the plate to wash it and check the hardware condition

FYI, although I had given my mast a quick wash with fresh water on the same evening I last used it, I confirm you need to give them a very good dunking/soak in fresh water as only after 5 days the salt buildup in the base connection was quite bad. If you don’t rinse it thoroughly after use, then you probably need to remove the mast from base plate every 8-10 days to give is a good clean out.

I use a Slingshot board with the previous sabfoil 92 mast and HS fuse. With mast track styke us boxes with the square holes in the back you simply release the 4 screws 5-6 laps lift up the bak screws and slide it back. Takes only 10 seconds. To assemble, just let the screws with nuts just drop in and slide it forward. Very simple and easy and I prefer a one piece carbon mast. I guess its lighter too. But the two m6 screws in the mast/fuse connection are bent after many jumps (windfoil freestyle) so m8 screws here like the kracken system would be better here.

Im very happy with my setup now though mainly the balz pro 799, hs fuse and 399 wings but not so much the lack of modularity with new systems every year. I now considering mounting the sab 799 wing and s399 on Slingshot fuse and mast that I think is better. Adding i joint at the place with the highest stress was a bad idea. Sorry, not impressed with kraken. Mounting the mast was/is no issue at all as I wrote above.

@Stefan Haberl thanks for your comment. Clearly the Quick Release System (Q01K) is a completely optional upgrade made for those who want maximum comfort, so there is no reason to buy it if you are not interested in its features. Plus it is a patented item, tested by professionals, so there is no reason to worry about the mechanical joint. As for the general changes, the new Kraken Modular System range was not created for the Quick Release System itself, but to renew the entire SABFOIL technical sector, as it brings many advantages in many fields. In addition we have maintained FULL COMPATIBILITY with FRONT-WINGS and STABILIZERS, so you can keep all of them and upgrade only mast and fuselage when you are ready. That said, the brands are many and you are completely free to try our competitor products to find out if they are better. SABFOIL will always be here at your service.
