Kreator - more than 30 years of metal and still as powerful as they were during the 80's. There are lots of 80's metal bands which sound tired in 2017 but Kreator is not one of them. They have a Finnish guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö but that cannot be the only reason. Maybe it is that they never had big worldwide success like Metallica, that's why they still sound fresh.

Gavin, yes they have made many amazing album during the early years and in fact Renewal was the last good album before they released Cause for Conflict (which I think was not an album for me) and Endoroma (it's an OK album but quite experimental, I like some of the songs). Outcast was a pretty good album. The entire 2000's is great thrash metal. If they had big arenas like Def Leppard and Nickelback - what would happen to their sound? Korn started to sound too poppy after the six or seven first albums and have been since the latest one but I think I will never buy albums from them. It is hard to write how life sucks if you get a message during your first class flight and you don't have to make a sound check.

Did you mean "massage" instead of "message"? 😃 I get the question you're raising though. Maybe, maybe not. In any event, I'm loving their output starting with Violent Revolution. It's thrashy and very exciting. I agree with you on the 90s, there was good stuff on those albums, but I listen to them and I just enjoy them, whereas the newer stuff has this excitement factor that just makes my whole body want to move. Side note, I would never want a band I love to struggle. It's really sad when you really like a band, but they can only tour three weeks a year because they have jobs they need to keep as it is those jobs that pay for their bills, as well as for their making music.
