I did one of these models a few years ago but because I'm on light duties it is about all I can do at the moment. It won't win first prize in a beauty pageant but theses are great performers.

Hi David, this radio belonged to my Grandad! My father remembers waking up and turning it on to hear that JFK had been assassinated. It holds alot of childhood memories for me and im so happy to have it restored so beautifully. My Fardie would be proud. Thank you so much 😍😍. I've loved watching this video and have shared it with other family members to enjoy a trip down memory lane

Hello Jamine, thank you for dropping by and adding some very interesting information. It was an absolute pleasure repairing your radio and I hope you get many more memories and years of service from it. We all remember where we heard the news about JFK, I was watching the Buggs Bunny Show at 7:00am on a freezing Melbourne morning when the announcement came on. Your Fardie had good taste in radios 🙂

Hi Janine. Isn't It funny how we relate to objects when remembering our childhood. I clearly remember the sound of the radio in my grandparents house ( my fathers parents, English has a flaw there ), It was mid 60-s and Swedish radio was still broadcasted on good strong AM. I have yet to find that particular model to restore, AGA or Philips, can't remember but I'll know when I see It. Cheers from upabove🙂

Another great restoration as always Dave. That waxy muck looks exactly like the stuff that used to deposit on everything in our kitchen in the 70's and 80's before they cleaned up the Town Gas for the stoves. It would pull the dust out of the air and form a hard waxy oily crust on everything and leave a red orange rust stain on metals once it was cleaned off.

Hi David, I'm an electronics tech from 30 odd years ago who diversified into the mysteries of computing along the way. I've always kept a finger in the pie of electronics repair though, amateur radio etc and construction in particular. With a bit more time on my hands these days I reckoned I'd get back into repairing the things I started out on as an eager 20 something - the lingering valve radios and telly's of the 80's. I find your videos invaluable, your delivery to the point and full of hints and tips that you maybe even don't realise you are imparting to others, fantastic. Thanks very much for what you do and the way you do it, I'm re-learning so much. I've built myself a swishy autotransformer and isolated power supply and revamped a Bush 1955 Dac90A to start with, have a Cossor 1946 464 on the way and just snapped up a 1931 Marconiphone 42AC too! Thanks!

Hi bzbot09, I get a shiver when I get a comment from a person that has an electronics background. Thank you, I'm glad you get something from my videos. “…just get it working.” You are too modest my friend! You performed, as usual, a superb repair, and “wash ‘n’ brush up” job on that radio. It looks and sounds beautiful. The Kriesler badge, shiny cabinet, and station to dial alignment were a definite major contributor to the finished article. There’s no reason for its owner to show any dissatisfaction in any way, shape or measure. That radio should provide good working service for several years to come. Cheers Dave: all the best from Phil.

Greetings from Canada, nice to see a new video and I hope your treatments are going well. You can buy a spray accelerator for the CA glue which is spritzed on 15 or 20 seconds after the glue is applied and it will speed up the drying time and prevent the CA glue from turning white. Gerry Rosa from Rosa String Works is a luthier who uses it on many of his videos when repairing instruments. He's a great guy as well. Good luck and God Bless.

Hi Dave. I always check my phone on Friday mornings when I get out of bed. If there is a new Tipton video, It’s a great Friday 😊 Thanks again for a great video. By the way, not sure if you’ve tried the mini-whip antenna. For AM it’s absolutely magic for me, and since you guys still have many AM stations, it may be an idea for you to try.
@DavidTipton101
@DavidTipton101 2 года назад
Hi Manuel, thank you. I have a mini-wipe antenna after you had so much success with yours but it doesn't work all that well unfortunately, I will move it to a new location and see how it goes. It will mean mounting it on the house steel roof which is attached to the house steel frame which is grounded along with the house wiring, I'm not sure if that will be a problem. I might be able to insulate it from the roof and run a clean ground to it if it gets interference in it 🤔 thanks Manuel 🙂

Never boring to see your amazing work and your videos are just so beautifully made! All the camera angles and cuts must take forever to edit. Incredible! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Thank you yorktown. The editing is a substantial part of the video but I enjoy it plus it slows down my work output otherwise our house would be flooded with radios 😄

Yet another fantasic resto! Your videos always make me feel a wee bit brighter :-) Do you think someone will be reparing old iPhones in 50 years time? No, me neither! All our kids will be able to do is show people a dead metal and glass slab and say "this was my dad's favourite phone, it lasted almost 4 years...."
