Let us not forget that Hildebrand Maximilian Heliodore Manderville is a lancer, so not all Dragoons need be tragic backstory. Some can be comedy sidekick.
"give monk a ranged" yes please lol, imagine if monk just pulled out a blitz ball and kicked it, or stomped the floor earthbender style and kicked a rock at their tarket
@@Eweiit In WoW monks have at standard "mystical green force lightning" with the additional option to do either the Hadoken with the slow build up of a Ka-Me-Ha-Me-Ha or to use the ultimate ability of Nami from League of Legends (basically summon chi that jumps between enemies and allies/yourself, damaging/healing in the process).
I'd be down for them to get a new "Fist of" attack that's dedicated to making all your attacks ranged for a time. Not only would that fix the "no range" issue, but it would do it in a fun unique way.
I literally didn’t find out about the rear gap in the target circle until I watched this video oh JoCat’s channel. I’ve been playing this game for two years and I never knew, I always just went with my gut on exactly where the “rear” and “flank” were.
"Ninja is for those who enjoy American Football: for every ten seconds of excitement you a minute of fuck-all." Has JoCat ever actually WATCHED American Football? 10 seconds of excitement to 1 minute of boredom is baseball. FOOTBALL is 10 seconds of excitement every three or four plays when the referees don't call a penalty before the play starts, and there's 5 minutes between all plays unless the clock's still counting down.
I had to google positionals when I started leveling melee jobs. I felt like an idiot thinking that the flank was the rear. The definition of flank is literally the sides of an animal or human. At least I learned something! XD
3:20 - Monk. Hands down. If you play on controller, you are down to 2 full bars in Endwalker, this is after they merged 5 skills into 2 buttons! All the other melee don't overflow 2 bars like this.
It took me about 5 years of playing to figure that out I just went by model visuals. Which meant I was stupidly running around trash mobs in the overworld for quests trying to get my positionals out.
i found out about the rear gap at when i started the game B) im so cool just kidding, i started as monk who just sees positionals and says *ill take your entire stock* i would move like a monkey doing breakdance. even with the recent rework i still do the positional bcuz pure muscle memory/trauma lol
I kinda wonder if the “extensive adjustments” to DRG they mentioned was just simplifying the rotation to reduce button bloat. Maybe it’ll be like reaper and just have no positionals for 1-2-3 but the 4th will still have them
The readjustment seems to be related to the core changes they're making to how crit, etc work. Also the PVP DRG LB is interesting mechanically in that maybe we wont be positionally locked into animation when we jump?
Im hoping they remove wheeling thrust and fang over claw from the hotbar and have them replace the 3rd hit theyre tied to respectively like how the continuation combo works for gunbreakers.
I've played FFXIV almost since ARR's release and I only learned about a year ago that the circle under the enemies isn't actually cut off in the back because the ground is uneven but because it indicates where the rear end starts and ends xD
Monks work different than most melees regarding "ranged skills", they have the skill "Six-sided Star" which is 2 in 1 GCD that have 4-5 secs cooldown after use, while not strong as 2 regular gcds it does about the same damage as if you hit a regular GCD and then a ranged attack from other melees, just need to remember to use it as last skill before going away from boss then dash back into the boss after the aoe is gone and you are good to go. Also if you got a lot of downtime you can spam "meditate" to being able to use "forbidden chakra" when you go back which is strong and compensate for your lack of ranged attacks.
@@larsbohmer6319 it's not easiness. It's bloat. And DRG also very bloaty. Which is why I guess they're getting adjusted in consideration of future patches.
@@rajabuta I mean, I like if you don't just have to press Buttons in an Order on repeat. BLM has to watch were they stand all the dang Time to keep up Enochian and learn the Fights to know exactly WHEN to place those Ley Lines. Basically anything that doesn't has me Fall asleep while playing the Job
Technically, Enlightenment can be used as a Hadouken. But I can't recall the exact range this early in the day. (At least, I'm thinking it can. It's what I usually do.)
mnk's enlightenment has some range on it though its not that far and you have to charge up your chakras to use it and you'll just save it for the forbidden chakra since by the time you get all the stacks you need, you'll be back in melee range
I play Dragoon, Reaper, and Bard mostly, but I actually watched Jocat before playing Dragoon, so I have been really careful about when I do my evasives. However I still die because I end up just barely clipping the AoE areas, so I still feel bad afterward lol.
MNK actually have range but you have to get 5 chakra first and the you can hadoken. that means spamming your meditate key 5x before you can damage while other melee already do more range dmg
Before I made my actual character I made others in the character creator to mess around and the 1st happened to be a Pugilist, while annoying to learn without a tank, I did learn my positionals very quickly
For you who enjoyed the crap guides, i shall guide you toward more final fantasy XIV knowledge and direct to you the video : "Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 in a nutshell" by Trueblade Seeker Shall you enjoy the truth power of Yoshida San
Devil's advocate for the Monk, they do have something to do while out of range: MEDITATE TO OPEN YOUR CHAKRAS SO YOU CAN HIT THE FORBIDDEN CHAKRA WHEN YOU GET BACK IN RANGE. I play Monk a lot, and I still forget to do that sometimes.
im teasing a this point, i get it, i play monk a lot, to be honest, i've never realised i dind't have a long range attack before someone directly pointed it out. you can greed easy pz with the dash tho.
FInally! I'm a healer main and I'm lvling up my drg and mnk. I really don't know why drg is considered the best "beginner friendly" melee dps job. That shit is bloated as fuck. Mnk require at least 400 IQ to press 3 buttons in a different order once in a while...but god at least I don't have to go through a 5 button gcd combo TWICE and line up every ogcd I have. And I have A LOT OF OGCD WITH DRG.
@@sennaka my main problem is the ogcd line up. I use geirskogul with high jump in the opener and I press everything on cd between the 5 button combo... it's fine. But as the fight goes on I feel like I'm just freestyling my rotation. I can keep up the geirskogul + high jump combo but every other ogcd is totally random and I don't know if I'm doing it right or wrong
@@kovacsbenjamin7960 the rule for that is pretty simple: High Jump and Geirskogul on cd, everything else within your Lance Charge-window. Life Surge is reserved for Full Thrust (or whatever the Upgrade is called). As a general rule: don't overcap on stacks, put it into Lance Charge if possible. Whoops made a pretty good video for that, Wesk Alber's Guide is also very good
@@KrimsonKB you my good sir have no culture. There was nothing quite like launching a sneak attack right in someone's face for some reason. Did Dragoon have one? Hard thrust perhaps? Donno, made it fun when healers yelled at you for not paying attention to boss cleave rotation.
@@KrimsonKB I don't think he'd put in music that could be dmca'd and get him a strike? Okay, I looked in his description and it seems he uses a site that provides royalty free music but you have to buy a license. I don't think they would bother striking reaction videos as it potentially helps get them clicks/sales by more people seeing it but who knows.
@@Heldemon the scene, as well as the music, are very similar to ghost of tsushima's special duel scene. Maybe that's why youtube freaked out. That said, it's indeed weird since Jocat's original video does not seem to have similar problem.
@@spearsage I'm pretty sure youtube just removes video and gives a strike unless muting is something new. Only heard of/seen twitch doing that for copyright music. I thought krimson had muted it himself, but I could be wrong.
@@Heldemon I believe Krimson had to mute that part exactly because youtube freaked out about it. Otherwise I don't think he'd feel the need to do that. Sometimes youtube just refuses to publish a video (due to various silly reasons) and ask you either mute or cut out a section.
I don't understand why "Your partner in dragonslaying? What kind of dragon slaying? thats up for you to decide!" ALWAYS PUTS THE EFFING SAO ABRIDGED- "Trying to impress a master swordsman, eh? Get him to plant his enchanted sword in your cave of wonders? Do battle with the fearsome dragon within?" "What the hell is the dragon in that metaphor?" "Chlamydia." "Annnnd we're done here!"
*sees Ninja Mudras 3 symbols long* LoTRO Wardens : Amateurs jk lol, dangit I still remember all my Gambits after almost 7 years of not touching the Warden class. Pure muscle memory at this point. Someone remove these from my head 😆
5:50 they do and it's called enlightenment. Just spam Chakra gain while dodging orange aoe and you cam piercing hadouken enemies with short range. But it's still range!
