Possibly the best Video of the 6R4 being driven like it should , Kris is one talented driver and have no doubt , he is gonna be top of the WRC podium in the not to distant future . Awesome skills and just what the British rally fans need , reminds me of Colin with his driving style .
WHY would someone dislike this? Its a 6R4 being driven exactly as it should be, whats not to like?! Best of luck to Meeke in 2011, I hope the Mini is a decent platform for his talent.
You've probably had the answer to your question by now,but yes,the design rights to the Austin Rover V64V engine were indeed sold to TWR for adaptation for the Jaguar XJ220 project. Jaguar cast their own engine blocks, cylinder heads etc, increased the capacity and added twin turbos, etc, etc, but the basic engine design is David Wood's 6R4 powerplant. And I agree...you've gotta love the 6R4,especially driven like that!!
How cool is Kris Meeke! Fantastic! Its a crime that he's not in the WRC.. At least he wouldn't twat a barrel on the last stage of a rally, and a super special to boot!
Body roll is probably because they sometimes leave it in gravel setup to entertain the crowd. The WRC cars generally do it when they go up the hill at Goodwood. - - That and 25 years of development can work wonders :D
ive followed rallying in ireland for years and know many clubman drivers and a well known international driver from 70's, sidney meeke built many good cars but he wudnt have gave u a lend of a nut or bolt, and since kris came on the scene i havent seen him in a car that he has owned, he is always crying poverty and scrounging a lend of rally cars off others, easy driving flat out in sumbody elses car, hes a great talent but not a lot of fans here have respect for him
Good to see a 6r4 going at full tilt, you never see them being driven like that anymore. Chris is a really good pilot, after all he was tutored by Colin McRae!
Not a standard 6r4 set up...he's tweaking the handbrake at a couple of points I can pick out and you can't do that in an "original" 6r4 without locking the transmission up or breaking it.... Some sort of electric centre diff???
i really dont know why the car would need building at the start of the year as kenny colbert built that car a couple of years ago and had it for sale for quite a while. Rsi have had it less than a year from what i remember and when i seen some original pics when they got it it looked stunning.
i think you have the wrong guy though loads of fan love him. Do you not see the support he gets, in fact we in Barbados would love to have him as our own!
Many thanks for this great video..shame she's too small , fantastic car and fantastic driver. this time of this type of car ( groupe B ) is finished shame..... Navtek741
