I am Kristang, a Portuguese Eurasian, and I speak Malacca Portuguese with my grandmother although I grew up half of my life speaking English, she taught me. I love my language and culture and how only my grandmother and I share closeness through it..
So proud of these noble Eurasians. They are amazing. Pls do not let this beautiful language die. I can see the Portuguese in some of these Eurasian's faces! So lovely! 😍❤️🙏Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹
My mom's side of the family is Eurasian ; which means we are from Melaka Portuguese Eurasian roots. Late grandparents and parents spoke the language at home. We never called it Kristang , rather we call it creole hispanic languages. Even though there are heavy loaned words from the Portuguese diaspora , our family do have much some Spanish , French and Greek. I never really picked up much of the "kristang" language as we were brought up in an English school and external environment. But the coolest thing is to see my grandmom mix fluently portuguese , bahasa melayu orang melaka and english. Hahahas.
I just found out about this. Incredible. I am Cape Verdean and our language also has roots in Portuguese aswell, although our crioulo is not dying. In fact crioulo is the main language in Cape Verde(Cabo Verde) and Portuguese is the second language, and now more and more people wants to learn our language. Nu ta papia criolo també!
Portuguese can be used to trade with Brazil, Angola and Mozambique. This is of great value, and you all should have a Kindergarten to care and teach the children in the language
The Kristang are a creole ethnic group of people of mixed Portuguese and Malaccan (Malay) descent. The name comes from the Portuguese creole kristang (Christian), derived from the Portuguese cristão. Therefore, it is not a religion but a race. The religion is Cristianismo (Christianity) in Portuguese.
this is fking bullshit there is no such thing as speak kristang kristang is from the word portuguese which means christians... WE SPEAK MALACCA PORTUGUESE IN PORTUGUESE SETTLEMENT im one of the living legacy here in portuguese settlement melaka malaysia and that old lady not one of us.
@@calyndecosta7054 Yes you do it's a misnomer but the guys in the video were saying they speak Portuguese which they don't, it's Malacca Portuguese (Portugues di Melaka) a creole version.
