You know what's scarier than an athletic 7'3 guy who can shoot from outside, drive to the basket, or post-up? It's the fact that the same guy is just FREAKIN' 20 years old! Call me crazy, but I think this kid has the potential to be league MVP in the future.
Elison Totoy White guys can't run as fast or jump as high on average but are more intelligent. Good examples were Bird and Nash. Both MVP's. I don't believe there was ever a black guy that could handle the ball like KP at his height. Probably not a White guy either.
***** Possibly but not necessarily. When Kareem joined the Lakers he won MVP but they did not make the playoffs. I'm in no way comparing him to Kareem. I'm simply suggesting you can be a great player on a losing team. I think he's a already a better all around player than Carmelo. He scores, rebounds, and blocks shots. Carmelo is better on offense but I don't think he has a winning mentality. He'll get in the weight room during the off season. He's still so young. Another 20-30 lbs of muscle and he will be impossible to stop.
Kristaps is one of the reasons why I'm happy to be from such a small country as Latvia. People from US or any other big country will never know the feeling you get when someone from your 2 million nation becomes something really big. It's like being proud of a brother. Kristap, Latvija Tevi neizsakāmi stipri mīl! Tu esi lielisks! ❤
Bb Z well he was TRADED to the Mavericks in the 2018-2019 season during Dirk’s last season playing. However, since KP was injured they never got the chance to play together. It would’ve been dope to have Luka, Porzingis and Dirk all play together tho..
+Spencer Bender longevity and unstoppable force 1v1 and crunch time i say yes hes top 2.. but overall game hes maybe top 5 at best behind malone, barkley, duncan
stuffandthangz yes but he has so much more tools. He is off-injured, while Dirk was incredibly healthy. KP has so much more tools, let him add some weight
@@unitedsteaks4246 Maybe he will be the next generation of Dirk, but, I think he'll never make a copy version of Dirk, cause Dirk was quite good at mid-range shooting.
@@rodrigoescobar8137 That's right. Some suggestions to KP: Add some weight, like 20 pounds firstly, secondly, sharpen at least two tools, i.e., mid-range shooting and 3-points; last but not least, be tougher and more aggressive in paint area.
+TheButler DidIT But its better to jump on a bandwagon late, than look like a complete idiot closing eyes and ignoring everything. People make mistakes. I knew how good he is, but would never predict such a strong start in NBA! I expected him to make starting five, but not to be this freaking good... How can one blame people who did not know him at all for making a wrong call.
Biggest thing about this game was how much better PorzinGod looked scoring the ball at the 5 position in the fourth quarter. We should be playing the smaller lineup with him at center and Melo at #4 whenever we can do it.
+Ramon Suarez Man i was screamin at the screen hoping fisher go small at the 3rd quarter with kp being center but he fuckin still puts in seraphin. fuck fisher
Sushi Prince His Seraphin love has reached irrational proportions. Lopez gets buried in the second half of games over him. Might as well put KP6 out there and exploit mismatches with him and Melo.
Aiden Pearce Yep, I fully agree with pretty much every word you wrote. Its not as if small lineups are a taboo matchup option in the NBA anymore. Its becoming clearer and clearer to me his most natural and probable future position will be at the 5. So lets exploit it for all its worth now that we have a legit option at the 4 with Melo.
Omg. I just love Porzingis. All the best fella! You are amazing. You've got a potential to be the best European ever to play the game. Work hard, stay out of injuries and peace!
Anyone else watch this game on league pass? Dang this kid is special he basically said fuck it Melo you don't got it tonight give me the damn ball and proceeded to DROP BUCKETS random ass floaters and pull ups from three ALL THAT SHIT WENT IN this kids got that kobe mentality
good to see theres a new up and coming Dirk like player... ive been a dirk fan almost all my life after Mj's bulls disband with pippen as my idol... now theres this guy.. KP.. the dude is playing better than okafur for godsakes...
This remember me the duel between Jordan in Wizards and Kobe when was young, and Kobe learning about the MJ game. Now the first player in the knicks is Porzingis, just build a team around her.
When the Knicks selected porzingis as their 4th overall everyone booed him by I was so happy and excited cause I knew that this guy would dominate the game with his height and strength . I was happy for him because this guy is impressive .
Reading these comments is just making it clear why some of you ppl never played basketball or understand it. You just watch sportcenter and get hype of highlights
2:10 Look at the way Dirk just shows his swag by lifting his left foot in the air and turning with the balls of his feet, and just sways his arms low into that shooting motion. Combine the whole thing and its like hes saying "We all know this is going in"
there will never be another Dirk, Kobe, MJ... they should make a name for themselves instead of using past and present players for comparison.. that's how Dirk, Kobe, MJ and another legends had marked their name in NBA fame
+Owen Gonzalez Towns and Porzingis are pretty neck and neck IMO. Okafor has amazing post offense but is not the force on D that Towns and Porzingis are. All 3 are great additions to the NBA, though.
Porzingis is a star already. He can shoot the 3, has a good midrange, can pull up off the dribble, drive to the hoop, and a decent handle. Plus he blocks a lot of shots and effects a lot more that end up missing. Considering how good his game is already at such a young age I have little doubt he'll have a long career like Dirk. Wouldn't mind seeing him in a Lakers jersey in a few years =)
I love how PorzinGOD shut the critics mouth, when nobody believes in you and your abilities, you have to believe in yourself and show that people why. Respect for Porzingis
He has shown to do well in the clutch, and create his own shots/break up plays, impressive so far, though his low rebounding this game could be related to having to play Dirk in the perimeter and not hustling back for rebounds, also just being on the knicks, and not being able to execute pre final minutes is a problem.
KP only needs his Pippen, that's all.. one more player, just that one player and I swear to God the Garden will be like when Patrick Ewing and Starks played.. Knicks really had a steal with KP man just WOW! he almost singlehandedly beat the Mavs by himself only 22 games in!!?? WOW
Knicks need to play small ball to add more speed and consistent shooting , you have two guys in the backcourt who are 3 point threats in AA and JC , but JC is just not quick enough to keep up but then Jerian grant needs to work on his shooting ! But small ball line up of PG:JG /SG :AA / SF : Lance thomas? Why not / PF : Melo , C : KP , that line up can get up and down and shoot lights out .
Something about those uniforms Dirk look a lot more agile than I remember lol. So Ima give the nod to the Dirk, he was cooking for most of the game. But Kristaps got it goin towards the end. Honestly i get that he looked up to him but they aren't that much alike. I'd say kp is more like anthony davis. He moves like a point guard, blocks shots and gets rebounds, dirks not really about that life lol. Kristaps is more of a complete player
key words: avoid injuries! I really think Bargnani and Gallo both had the potential to become all-stars(Rubio and Jonas still have chance to become all-stars) its just injuries really did hurt them.
+UnderDog Glory There was barely anybody who knew about porzingis when he was drafted. Knicks fans were highly upset when they picked him. But now everybody likes him. So pretty much anybody who likes him now is on the bandwagon, including you.
Lmao I guess the only team people can like without being "band wagoners" is the Brooklyn Nets, or maybe the Pelicans? Stfu and enjoy the sport, this is a great era for basketball.
I'm actually shocked with how melo has handled this transition. He's shown maturity and has garnered more respect around the league. He's loosing the spotlight to this kid and it looks like he's embraced it.
Space Alien We won't win at all then!!! Y'all sound stupid. It will benefit us,more if both he and melo score, rebound and overall play well. Why wouldn't you want him to get his game back!!!? His assist are up already and the ball is moving albeit we still have work to do. Its just asnine to make a comment like that, porzingis is still a rookie that's developing who's playing great right now,a healthy melo would be a plus.
There is so much an individual do in a game, remember it is a team sport and Melo is ruining team chemistry. Just looking through his career resume, he is just a stat stuffer that never wins.
I remember a similar game when Dirk played against Bargnani. People were comparing them, much like now. Dirk even said that Bargs was better than him at his age... Wee shall see if Porzingas fizzles and busts out like Bargnani.
I take back *EVERYTHING* i said about *Kristaps "the white tooth pick"Porzingis* DRAFT NIGHT after I *FINALLY* stopped *crying, convulsing & vomiting uncontrollably*. Kids a beast.
If he stays healthy, he's gunna be a HOF player. It's not just his athleticism, size, and shooting that impresses me. It's his demeanor. This kid is unshakeable and that bodes well for his career.
1st time seeing kp play not bad at all not timid for a big guy, good shooting stroke knicks has to get a hold of this guy for years to come and let melo go or trade him for a younger star who knows how to pass
I see Porzingis averaging this season 20.0 to 21.0. The numbers that Nowitzki could only achieve at Dallas in his third season. Porzingis has the potential to become better than Nowitzki.
You can't really compare the start to these guys careers. Nowitzki didn't play pro before coming to the nba. He also didn't have a summer league, a training camp, or much practice time during his rookie year. This is what he had before he came to the NBA: i.ytimg.com/vi/sLZagoDoMtY/maxresdefault.jpg No corner 3's.
Been a porzingis fan from the get go, and he's proving all these doubters wrong. The problem isn't melo on this team though, it's calderon. He's washed up, never was that good anyways. During this game there were 2-3 plays where Porzingis was wide open, and of course instead of passing to him he drove got his shot blocked or turned the ball over. Lopez is also a dud. Melo is trying to work everyone together at this point. afflalo is a nice piece, though he sometimes iso's a bit too much. Atleast he makes his baskets. Overall 28 mill for calderon, afflalo, and lopez is too much. I know the cap availability catapults next year. If the money is available, I'd sign batum (who can play SG, like this year), who's a great defender, passer, and shooter. They could have signed him this year, and spend that 12 mil on batum instead of lopez, but atleast batum is a UFA this summer. Than, considering Noah's value has decreased because of his bench role, the knicks could probably get him for cheap, lets say 10 mil. And than we could sign bazemore as a key piece to our bench at the SF position. The cap is projected to increase to 90 mil and the knicks will have 28 mil to spend. If the Cost of Batum stays the same, and since horford is most likely unreasonably expensive, we get Noah, at 10 mill, and bazemore at 4 mil. The knicks would have spent around the 28 mil available. The Team would then look like: Starting Unit: PG: Jerian Grant SG: Nicolas Batum SF: Melo PF: Porzingis C: Noah Second Unit: PG: Calderon SG: Afflalo SF: Bazemore PF: Kyle O'Quinn/Derrick Williams C: Robin Lopez Noah is a better defender than Chandler no doubt, can shoot better from the line, and of course his passing abilitiy would be perfect for the triangle. Grant and Batum are above average passers also, and Melo is underrated as a passer (above 3 assists in his career). And Porzingis looks like he's extremely unselfish as well. Porzingis has proven to be an outstanding shot blocker and alot better defensively than anyone else thought. Grant was a great defender in college, and at 6 foot 5 200+ could guard 1s 2s, and even undersized 3s eventually. batum who has proven to be a good defender when he puts his mind together, could be interchangeable both offensively and defensively, as batum is also a great passer and solid defender. Melo has improved his defense also. The starting lineup could be deadly, solid passers all around, and 1-4 you have shooters, as well as good-great defensive players and potential. The overall athleticsm is tremendous also, as noah, porzingis, batum, melo, and grant can all cause mismatches at there positions. Batum will only be 28 next year, melo, at 32, is still in his prime (once he recovers from injuries the whole dynamic changes), and Noah, only at 30, is also in his prime. Porizingis is extremely advanced and mature for a rookie, and grant as a 23 year old rookie is much more evolved than other rookies. This team could compete.
+Chris Song Yeah, that would be pretty cool. And it's a reasonable possibility. With phil at the helm, im sure knicks management will make smart decisions.
Knicks should actually trade Melo ASAP. He's a high volume shooter who doesn't have that good percentages. Very inefficient and hogs the ball. Porzingis looks to have MEGA star potential.
