House music originator (and early adopter of the CDJ) Roger Sanchez joined us at Amsterdam Dance Event 2019 bringing his protégé from Miami, Kristen Knight.
Kristen brings the technical skillset to play comfortably across 4 decks and is working with Roger to bring greater deserved visibility to other credible female DJs under the brand name Eve.

Never heard of this girl. Bare skillz! When all you see if useless DJs like Charlotte De Witte, Nina Kraviz...even Sam Divine basically changing the track and then standing around for 3 minutes, it makes a refreshing change to see a DJ actually creating a sound that's their own!

12:28 ouch.... sorry but if u mess up once, its ruined! Im a perfectionist. I mean if it was vinyl i can forgive a wobble here and there, even then im bang on.. But on cdjs? ouch!!!! People remember that shit! Overall, good set with track selection. Track selection gets a 8, but as a dj, Technically id rate her a 4. Im sorry i gotta be harsh but its just a fact. . We have to be near perfect up there!

OK, as much as I have respect for Mr. Sanchez.. I don't get the fuzz about his technique, when the actual tunes that are mixed are kind of (really) generic and often break the whole harmony, not musically but the vibe of the set..

So...I notice watching Roger's set, that he isn't using the pitch adjustment at all. He's making minor pitch adjustments using the platter, but all of his pitch sliders are at the same position. Does anybody know, does Roger set all of his tracks to the same BPM prior to loading up into the CDJs?

@@trevormalcolmson2002 I totally agree. I was asking the question somewhat rhetorically. Would it even matter of Roger Sanchez used sync? He's got four decks going at the same time, and he's doing so much in terms of mixing that it wouldn't bother me if he used sync. It also wouldn't bother me if he used Ableton or something similar to make his songs all the same BPM, so when he plays with the pitch control at zero, they are all the same BPM. Its the same as sync. I asked, because some people lose their minds when DJs use sync, and say that real DJs don't use sync. Could anybody really argue that Roger Sanchez is not a real DJ even if he was using one of the strategies listed above?

After listen , one thing stands out here 1st DJ :does not understand the pitch fader by ear , meaning, what record is faster or slower ( she is guessing) 2nd DJ :understands this technique and you can tell straight away by the way he mixes, it sounds more raw that's constructive on mixing ability only, they are both DJ's

@@gibamach Yes 100% I know who he is , I've been vinyl DJ since the 90s and he's legend who played on House & Garage scene also with Dj Decipal , Tony Humphries, Bobbi & Steve , Steve Jackson , DJ Noodles , Karl tuff enuff brown , Matt Jam Lamont , Danny Foster !!! more ! also with house DJs like Tall Paul etc but I've not heard of the other DJ , I'm just making opinion that I don't think she gets the pitch technique by ear 👍

Kristen Knight: my set is based on 4 deks. Never seen more than 2 faders up the whole time. I do not pretend you have to mix all decks at the same time, but at least keep your claims a little moderate.
