Don't blindly select, though. Choose the ones who actually align with the people's best interests. There are some conservative Dems who are Republican-lite. Vote non-conservatives, including 3rd party candidates.

@oscargr_ Not correct. "Amount" is used with non-count nouns (air, money, sauce) and "number," unsurprisingly, is used with count nouns (ideas, bicycles, people).
