I was front row for their show in Dublin in 2017. Before the show starts, a dude starts climbing onto the stage to get to the back. I look up and it's Kristof. I was scrolling Facebook at the time, he looks at me and says "Don't let Michael see you texting...". I laughed and said "Don't worry, I won't", and he went backstage. Cut to 2 hours later, when he's exorcising the soul from a steel guitar during 'The Glowing Man'. The two of us shared a really intense snarling stare in rhythm with the music that I'll never forget. It's a good life, really.
Saw Swans a few months back, I was so fucking frightened by Kristof because he gave the most vile/menacing stares into the audience, made eye contact 2-3 times with during the show and my heart dropped each time. Seeing him so chill, polite and smiling in this itw seems so surreal hahaha Extremely talented guy, pluridisciplinary artist, intelligent and charismatic, what's not to love with this man? great interview good edting but PLEASE remove the dark statid ambient backround sound it sounds good but its just such an annoyoing distraction while hes talking
I like it. Background or foreground “silence” is often louder when someone is speaking unless you isolate the vocals. The ambience takes you further into how he thinks if you let it.
