Wow!!! It looks bigger than say a regular round baler. Looks like you'll be able to bale from very dry to some what wet (or damp) bale and still make a quality hay bale!!! Awesome!!! Thanks for showing us this Krone baler......

We drive a Comprima for 3 years now and know all of her problems.. It cuts very well but at hay you don't should cut it to short with the 26 knives.. Thats only for silage to get the bale better compressed.. In hay we drive her with about 8 knives thats very good for the structur in our food for the cows.. Greetings from Austria

We went from an 855 New Holland to a belt style baler aka 688 then to br7090. Maybe the bar system has come a long ways but when the chain broke and sends a bar threw the hoods and smashed everything in it's path as it went by... I vowed to myself to never run a bar baler again. Looks nice. I like the precutter system. I run bale slice on my 7090 and love the way it feeds and breaks up the long stems of while doing rylage oatlage and haylage.

I bought that bailer last year, the variable chamber is nice but I’ve had a few more problems with it then I’d like. I won’t get into the details here. Just thought I’d add my 2 cents. It does make well formed bales, but all balers in the same price range do that.

The krone balers r the cats ass of balers, we demoed one for bailing straw and some hay to try the knife's out, we did 500 straw bales in about 10.5 hrs, the bales were comming out so fast we had ppl stopping on the road to watch, I still can't believe how packed they are too with making a bale every 25 second's in straw. I have had got 3 krone balers,1800 vario pack. When they lounged this baler whit the new belt system there we're a lot of problems with. I switched to McHale balers, never go back to krone again. I see that they left allot of the old problems, the most irritating thing is the side panels when you open them you get all of the dust on your head. But the square balers are nice.

@lukestrawwalker
@lukestrawwalker 5 лет назад
Wow everything old is new again... I remember the New Holland chain and slat balers... Most all of them are in the scrap yard. People said they just ground the hay to dust and had all sorts of problems, stripped leaves and beat the hay up pretty bad. There's a reason all the manufacturers went to belt type balers. I guess for silage since it's still in the 50% moisture range it doesn't matter, probably some advantages to the bar type baler, but for dry hay, not so much. Don't see how a fine chop from the cutter wouldn't be slipping between bars and dribbling stuff everywhere as it rolled it with all the space between bars, and the fact that the front and rear apron chains "hand off" the hay to each other. Then there's the fact that it's SLATS ATTACHED TO BELTS. Okay, so they're big heavy (hard to tell from the video but possibly *cogged* belts like a timing belt?) belts, but there's metal bars bolted to them some sort of way. Not the greatest from a longevity standpoint, and I bet those things cost a FORTUNE to repair or replace when they get worn. I've had German equipment and German engineering is absolutely second to NONE but this thing does look awfully complicated and convoluted. That netwrap system looked like a pain in the rear to reload and thread, for one thing. Good they have constant oilers on stuff, like that part. Would be better if most of the chains were enclosed in chain cases like the big squares (particularly OLF's). Like the camless pickup; that should save a lot of headaches versus the old cam-style pickups on everybody else's balers. I noticed that baler sure is LONG, and the pickup is a long way ahead of the wheels, which means it probably won't turn as tight or follow the ground as well with the pickup as other balers where the baler overall is shorter and the pickup is closer to the axle. Just my first impressions... I'm sure it's a fine baler, but probably more for silage IMHO... Later! OL J R :)
