Vegito has a specific purpose of playing around and making the badguy feel frustrated for a short time, then he just leaves again. If he stays until the end, he wouldn't be the real Vegito anymore.

The real answer to all power level debates is that the writers are the strongest, because they decide how strong a character is at any given moment.

Gogeta is stronger than the last version of Vegito we saw, by virtue of the fact that Goku and Vegeta are both much stronger than they were when they last formed Vegito. Also, given the Potara fusion couldn't handle Vegito's power during the fight with Zamasu, that's as powerful as he can possibly be. Whereas Gogeta has no upper limit; he just has a time limit. If Vegito were to pop up now, he might not even LAST thirty minutes before the potara stopped being able to handle it. The power would be too great.

Time to put an end to the whole thing. In the weekly jump issue released prior to DBS Broly Gogeta and Vegeto are described as "two equally-matched ultimate trump cards." According to the most up-to-date information on the two they're equal in power.

Canonically, Potara fusion (Vegito) is supposed to be stronger than fusion dance (Gogeta). So if they fused into Vegito in the Super Broly movie, theoretically they would’ve been stronger.

dragon ball nerd here: both fusions has their pro and cons in term of power they are pretty much similar with very little if not any difference, but Potara fusion is a lot easier to make compared to the fusion dance, but at the same time the 1h time limit become useless if Vegito uses powerful forms like SSJB making it last only about 30/40 minutes like it did against Merged Zamasu due to power overuse and instability, while Gogeta is an extremely stable fusion due to the requirement of that dance like when he fought against Broly going all out and remaining fused even after the fight was over, BUT still we are talking about "Dragon Ball time" so we can't have a clear answer about timespans using only anime and movies.

For anyone confused about the two beings here's a quick explanation: The potara fusion (Vegito) is stronger than the Metamoran/dance fusion (gogeta). I forget the reason why but a big part of it is due to both the usage of the potara and how the potara fusion is an hour vs the dance only lasting half an hour. The potara are also the better option due to: A. Convenience, basically no need to remember a dance/be in sync. B. The fusees power levels do not need to be the same level (that's how goku and vegeta were able to combine to fight buuhan) C. A height difference doesn't matter, meaning two people of varying heights can fuse (although it may hurt like hell to fuse with someone smaller) However while the potara are better and much faster, the rarity of having the earrings is a huge issue, so the dance is a good second choice, and is personally my favorite.

The answers has been in the manga for years In the manga old kayoshin specifies that the warrior that comes from the potara fusion will be stronger than the one that comes from the metamoru fusion, not even making into account the time limit, that's another factor that doesn't come up Both methods have their respective problems but also both are hella strong Goku specifies that the result warrior in a fusion in his base state it's stronger than the maximum power of the individuals that make up the fusion, even confirmed in the daizenshu 7 so yeah both are stronger than the ssj blue of goku and vegeta in their base form but vegito it's stronger just cuz it's a potara fusion

From my understanding it's that fusing with the potaras gives a fairly bigger flat increase to power but using the fusion dance ampliifies the individuals power more so for most people potaras would be stronger but the fusion dance can be the stronger fusion if the two fusing are powerful enough, so while both are still very strong I would say Gogeta should be stronger since it's Goku and Vegeta. Whereas if it were say Goten and Trunks they would probably be stronger if they used the potaras. Edit: I remembered more and I believe its potara gives more power but has a limit to how strong the fusion can be while the dance gives less power but has no limit. Same conclusion but slightly different reasoning.

The use of potara increase the power potential of the fusion so technically, Vegito is the strongest. No need to have any discussion about it.

In terms of pure strength/power, Vegito would technically _always_ be stronger because the stronger fusee has to lower their power when doing the fusion dance, but not when using Potaras. But because of retcons, the Potara might seem weaker because allegedly when too much power is used, the fusion breaks. The thing is, the same was _also true_ for the fusion dance(even just SSJ3 cut Gotenks' fusion time down by a lot; you can argue that SSJ3's ki consumption was the cause of that, but SSJB - especially in the manga - has similar ki sustain issues), and we don't know how long the fight between Gogeta and Broly actually was. As a result, the answer to who is the strongest Goku + Vegeta fusion is the same as the answer to how spinosaurus actually looked like: it changes every time new material on the subject matter appears. It's weird talking about this topic on a Hololive clip out of everything, but here we are.

For who's stronger DB Super definitely made me doubt everything. I think they are very both very close which makes sense since they are both fusions of Goku and Vegeta. But for me Vegito will always be the cooler and favourite one. I like his appearance and moves way more and his name Vegetto has Gokus saiyan name Kakarott in it which gives it a nice touch.

I'm a 90's Dragon Ball fan so while I like Vegito more, Gogeta always had an allure about him because a lot of us heard about him but never saw him unless we had the sub tapes until like 2003 when the movie got dubbed.

I feel like Gogeta is MUCH more serious. Due to the time limit he knows he has to get shit done or lose. With the current power levels i could see gogeta eking out a win.

It doesn't matter if the retcon means Vegito could only fight for 5 minutes vs. Gogeta's 30 minutes, he's still stronger.

Vegito wins the hypothetical fight between the two (because of how the fusion dance and potara work) and is my favorite, but I'm willing to concede that Gogeta is usually regarded as cooler.

*FUN FACT:* No fusion has ever canonically won a fight across the entire DB franchise. They all have a 0% win rate or 100% loss rate if you prefer to look at it that way.

Im sure their equal. since fusion dance needs to be of similar strength and since vegeta is always trying his best to beat goku they must always be at similar levels even if they use potara earrings. it all comes down to when in the timeline they fuse into vegito or gogeta.

Vegito: Time Advantage. Gogeta: Battle IQ advantage, because his time is limited, he needs to end it quickly.

Both have the same power level but Vegito has never win a fight, Gogeta defeated both Janemba and Super Broly so at least Gogeta gets the shait done Vegito is useless for now.

After all the data has been compiled, after all of this time, the result ends up being that Gogeta is more powerful while Vegito is supposed to last longer. That is pretty much it. They are pretty much equal trump cards. This also is reflected in their fighting styles. Gogeta represents an offensive swarmer with a hyper-aggressive style that never gives you room to breathe. Vegito spaces himself out and times his counters while controlling space effectively like an outboxer.

There's a really simple way to end this "debate", ignore all of the weird rules that they've kept changing over and over, and go off of what they *should* be. Power Level limit? That's stupid and literally goes against the whole point of the question, ignore it. Time limit shenanigans? They both have time limits and they both get worse when more power is used, ignore it (but let's be honest, they only made that for Potara so that they can get their main characters back). The question isn't about a specific Vegito or Gogeta, it's about which technique is stronger (if it was about specific times they fused, the stronger one is whichever happened last, obviously). No limits, if Goku and Vegeta decided to fuse, which warrior would be stronger? The answer is simply Vegito. It's the fusion technique of the gods, it's stronger. Even if you don't want to believe that, Fusion Dance requires the power level of the stronger character to be brought down to match the power level of the weaker one. If you want to ignore *that* then you throw the whole "balance" argument out the window, and it goes back to simply Potara being divine and therefore stronger. The "Vegito is cocky" argument is not what the question is about, if he needed to, he would end a fight better than Gogeta. Vegito is stronger.

Vegito and Goleta are the same level of strength. They're just the same two dudes. Any fight would actually come down to which of the two personalities was less willing to fuck around and find out

So mathematically and in canon, Vegito can have a much higher number than Gogeta, but since Goku and Vegeta are basically even in base form strength anyways, it doesn't really matter. But if say Goku were a decent bit stronger than Vegeta, the Potara multiplier would be much higher than the Metamorese fusion. That being said, each fusion has ups and downs. The fusion dance requires both fighters to be even in power, so if one fighter is stronger than the other, the stronger has to lower his power to match the weaker. This means a chunk of the strength of the stronger fighter is missing from the fusion multiplier. However, the timer on the fusion dance(30 minutes) does not decrease if the fighter is too strong. There is no discernable strength limit to it. The potara fusion does not require the stronger fighter to lower his power, meaning instead of requiring something like a 4x4 fusion multiplier, there can be something like a 6x4 multiplier instead. This gives the potara fusion much more overall strength if the fighters' power is imbalanced. The weakness comes in the time limit. The base timer is 1 hour, but if the resulting fighter is too strong(i.e. SSB Vegito), then the fusion timer becomes much shorter. The better fusion really depends on the fighters. If the fighters are insanely strong and equal in strength: Gogeta due to the static time limit. If the fighters are equal in strength but not strong enough to infringe on the potara time limit: Vegito due to the 1 hour timer as opposed to 30. If the fighters are unequal in strength: Vegito due to not having to lower the power of the stronger fighter.
