I'm a canadian locksmith with more than 30 years experience. Last september, I bought a Kronos directly from Multipick Germany since there was no distributor in Canada. Even though it seemed to be well built, mine quit working within 20 minutes of use. After I contacted Multipick, they told me I had to send it back to Germany to get it fixed. They said they would repay my shipping costs to cover for the trouble. Three months later I finally got it back but never got paid back as promised for my expenses . At last, I was able to try it and evaluate its performance. I tried it with multiple mortise cylinders, KIKs and padlocks. To me, it compares to my regular pick guns (Ilco and Lockaid). All the locks I picked with the Kronos, I also picked them with my good old pick guns wich by the way, don't require any batteries and perform better in the cold climate. My advice; save your money for something else.

What pick would you recommend instead of this one?

Just ordered myself one of these Kronos to replace my cheapo epg. Good to see a video of it opening some battered old locks at random rather than brand new cherry picked cylinders. Will subscribe, cheers mate

I think it is dangerous to suggest any lock (even an abloy) is unpickable.

Are you still using single pin picking techniques on them or does the tool do most of the work for you? Cheers, love from the UK 🇬🇧🇦🇺

You just need practice! Almost any electric pick works as long as you have patients! If I can do it with one hand and a couple paper clips I’m sure you can do it. The vibration is always different. Use graphite not WD-40 I learned from a book while being bedridden-for 7 years! There’s not many I can’t get in! The click guns work also but break easily! Start off with a very low setting and slowly move up as needed! To much vibration just causes time and ruins the lock! Auto guns and tubular picks are great once mastered just take the time to learn but it’s wise to learn with hand picks first! That way you know how a lock works! Use what works for you but what do you do when you don’t have that tool? This video is good but the mistakes being made are some of the first I made! Try turning it upside down! Also the speed is to high lower it and they will pop as soon as you find the right setting! If it’s going so fast you see metal starting to grind off and see metal dust obviously you have it to high... it’s the speed and insert your pick before your tension tool that way you can get your pick all the way to the bottom and with practice both picks will work! Your auto will always work faster!

I've been using the Kronos for a couple months now and have almost forgot how to pick the old fashioned way because of it :/. Plus, If i'm not mistaken it's German designed and produced so it will last ages. Great battery life and looks neat as all get out. As usual, great thorough video comparison.

Considering the fact that you were using a majestic pick gun that was created by Bernard Barney Zion, a locksmith out of New York back in 1931. I think, is Americans know that it’s not just in the movies.

I bought the Kronos a few weeks ago and it has not performed as I expected...I have been using the Dino electric pick for years, and it does much better than the Kronos. The Kronos is about $259 US, and the Dino is $185...I personally get way better results with the Dino electric pick gun in a side to side comparison with different locks. Try a comparison with an equal electric pick and you'll find that the Kronos is not what everyone is saying about. Thanks and keep up the great videos!

Dr lock would you say the tool would be worth it for most abus and master lock padlocks. Im a demolition tradesman and i cant always hit locks with a grinder due to noise on some jobs. getting sick of having to try to pick them open wene time is money.
@DrLockShop
@DrLockShop 6 лет назад
Im happy with it for the money, some locks look simple but take time, If I can't get it with the snap gun, I will hit it with this tool, and yes it works, and yes its worth the $300, allows you to get a wide range combinations quickly, and for this I like it. if you are looking for a tool to blow the lock away and get it opened asap, this tool is a good start, you still need to know how to pick locks once you know that skill, this tool can be used well, if it dose not work , use your hammer or grinder "Cordless" and im shore you will be in like flin

Tested this week = On the Job - 1. ADI 444 Bolt lock on a garage mounted 20 mm from the ground = Worked well under 40 sec. The pick gun could not get a good swing at the pins. 2. Lockwood LW4 or KW1 profile " The new Cylinders with spool pins and stronger pins" Did not do any better then the majestic, came to a stop a few times, just hitting the false set. 3. Standard stainless commercial grade knob set "LW5" opened easy 10 sec

I’m a locksmith, and occasionally I run into locks with security pins in the field. I can’t usually pick or bump them open, so I bought the Kronos for those situations. So far, I can only pick the simplest locks with the Kronos... and I broke all the tips the tool came with. Obviously I’m doing something wrong, as I see people picking some really hard locks with this tool with no problem. Can anyone give me some tips on using this tool?

You need a good tip/needle, no magic bullet for some locks, they are just made hard

Thanks for the offer, Im in Sydney. I think its only fair to use a new pick gun to comparer, I have been told the Dino is good, So I will have to buy one for the collection, keep the other company. You can never have enough pick guns if you pick locks for a living, But good idea I will comparer all 5 electric pick guns. I will try and do that this month

Hi, even some simple locks can be hard to pick , lazy spring , dirt in lock, pressure on plug , we all have a 95% rate , but the electric pick gun gives you another option, and yes its worked when normal picking just wont. Best of luck,, keep picking !!!
