Ynyr: _"Once his race had two eyes, like other men, until his forefathers bargained with the Dark Ones. They gave up one of their eyes in return for the power to see the future. But they were cheated, for the only future they were permitted to see . . . was the time of their own death . . . . They are sad, solitary creatures, rarely seen"_
Thats why Rel was awesome. He defied the destiny that The Beast had set for him. Thats why when he's getting crushed to death he's saying "Its not my time! He beat the BEAST by sheer will.
@@wedgeantilles3983 This is so awesome. I just finished watching the movie again after not having seen it since I was a kid. Held up really well. Screw the critics.
How I remember this movie was I read my dad's diary last year (he died March of 2019), he's kept diaries from 1968 to late 2018), in the 1983 diary, he wrote "I took the kids to see the movie "Krull"", and when I read that, the movie name rung a bell and I had flash memory of the movie, I remember it was a damn good movie for its time
It was pretty good. I watched it as a kid and enjoyed it. Some of the acting and FX were pretty corny, and the villain at the end died really quickly and took away the sense of danger but Liam Neeson and the Cyclops did a really good job of acting in this movie
And if he survived the death of the Beast and the destruction of the Black Fortress, the curse might have been lifted from himself and his people. But he never made it. So much tragedy. This movie is often joked about(often for good reason), but it understands good fantasy writing at times.
The scream of those Slayers were pretty damn scary and made for excellent villains along with the grotesque Beast. I'd love to have seen a spin off for Cyclops, showing the story of how his people traded one eye, got tricked, and how he arrived to the party in Krull.
When I saw this film for the first time as a child not too long after released I couldn't stop trying to find to watch again and again. The Neverending Story and this were amazing and timeless with esoteric soundtracks!!!!! The 80's is the pinnacle of originality in cinema and music!!! Great Classic Film - Krull!!!
Happy 40th Anniversary KRULL !!..., I Hope that this Magnificent Movie will Return to Movie Theaters!..., I have never seen it in Theaters before, I Love James Horner 's Original Soundtrack Music to Krull. This is one of my All-time favorite Sci-Fi, Adventure movies.
Awful death for a noble character...but that was the point, I suppose. Could not have been easy for the actor playing Rell, though; I doubt he was able to see with the makeup covering his eyes.
I get that it's Rell's initial fate to remain behind in the valley, but it's totally unclear what could possibly threaten him there. Was he just going to drop dead or what?
Atenista Ako They’ve had plenty of time to have seen it. The world doesn’t revolve around internet strangers, otherwise there would never be discussions about films
His death scene actually made me terrified of automated closing doors (like elevators) for years. I actually remember it happening slightly differently. I distinctly remember his face crushing. Maybe that was a childhood mental edit..
Bernard Bresslaw was only really known as a comic actor and most cinema goers probably didn't even recognise him at the time. But he somehow brought a lot of dignity to the role and he remains by far the best part of this movie.
Saw Krull as a kid at the theater. We all thought he wished for Fig Newtons. Never made sense. Just Now showing that silly wish scene to my kiddo and found out, thanks to the subtitle there, that he wished for "Ignorance"...not Fig Newtons. 🤷♀️ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dammm Rell was original Hodor holding the Door!!!! Loved this movie along with all Sinbads, Jason and The Argonauts, and so may other Sword and Sorcerer movies!! Thanks for this!
Holy shit I found it. I remember this scene from when I was a kid, probably 20 years ago and I've wanted to watch this movie again ever since. Been looking for it on Google but could never find it. Now I finally did. I fear I will find the movie terribly outdated now, but I really want to watch it again.
The late, great Bernard Bresslaw as Rell...more known for his work in comedies such as The Army Game and the Carry On film series He was 6ft 7ins tall, and built like the side of a house, so they must have put him in lifts and made the costume with extra padding to make his already imposing frame even more impressive A decent movie, too!
Maybe so but forget not that while its a movie imagine urself they would be real u would be crying tears 😭 for a river its like the movie labamba where ritchies cousin runs to the streets yelling ritchies name when he hears he is dead and donna cries too
They are an ideal to strive towards. With the time we're given in this universe, all of us have the chance to select the right thing. Millions of us, and we can change the world.
I have just watched this again 32 years later after seeing this as a kid! This scene sticks out more than any other movie when I was trying to show my son clips of movies I watched at his age
