KSI vs Tommy Fury.. Why The Judges Got It WRONG 

This truly is the worst case scenario IMO. KSI lost the fight, but not in a way that would humble him and motivate him to work on his flaws as a boxer. Tommy Fury won the fight, but got gone the distance by a RU-vidr much smaller that himself, so he has probably lost all respect from proper professional boxers. And the fans lost because it was a boring ass fight.

It’s been funny seeing the bias from both sides. KSI fans thinking it was a robbery, sure you can think he won but it’s not a robbery. It was a close and messy fight which makes it hard to score, it could have gone either way. And then the pro boxing fans blaming KSI for the hug fest, I think Tommy is equally to blame. KSI had a game plan and executed that successfully, even if it’s messy to watch. Tommy as the pro should have had the capability to deal with it and prevent it, instead he fell into JJ’s traps. Also a lot of them defending the judges, IMO only one of those score cards made sense and that was from the guy who couldn’t add up basic math. And for those saying draw, although fair based on performance, it’s unlikely on the cards with a minus one. No interest in a rematch, Fury has been exposed twice now, let’s get him away from this scene and let his career die in pro boxing.

How has no one realised it could not have been a draw in a 6 round fight with 1 point deduction and no knock downs..And KSI is terrible, should have lost points for holding and was punching Tommy in the back of the head just as much. Ref seemed scared to say anything to KSI, he kept telling Tommy to stop holding when it was clearly KSI.

Literally tallied up the amount of times they both initiated a clinch from round 1-5 since I couldn't find the full round 6 online, and it was a 6 clinch difference. KSI had initiated 22 times and Tommy initiated a clinch 16 times, Tommy being the one tangling KSI is arms up the most. Maybe if I saw round 6 the gap might have increased but I doubt it be a massive difference. People also don't get that KSI is fighting style requires him to stay on the ropes/outside so his reasoning for clinching is valid since he wouldn't be able to circle out to his left or right constantly AT ALL whereas Tommy could have easily done so but instead chose not too step back or circle. My point is they both clinched but one had a reason too while the other had multiple times where he didn't have too(Tommy). In other words they clinched hella times, because I didn't include the amount of times they both initiated a clinch at the sametime(both were planning or wanting to clinch)or where they both HAD to clinch. So if JJ should've gotten a point taken so shouldve of tommy because they both did enough clinching to be called excessive and were both warned multiple times. Tommy also missed most of his jabs and only landed 12 the whole fight, his right hand most of the last and beginning rounds bounced of jj is gloves or were evaded by jj with ease and in the clinch was outworked therefore gave him ring generalship for the two early rounds aswell as round 5. Tommy also wasn't able to start off his combinations as it all led off is jab which again was negated the whole fight since JJ blitzed either out of range or into range where he landed(most non-clean) overhand rights and initiated the clinch. Same with Tommy although he mirrored JJ but worse because everytime he would not land his double jab he would also result to a clinch and since JJ had a higher percentage of his punches landed he did better in that department. JJ again fought by the ropes and the outside but tommy once again landed nothing significant where as the stats that were just posted say jj landed more power shots in round 1/2 & 5 and also outlanded Tommy in all 3 of those rounds...So how the fuck does Tommy Fury Win when even the stats favor JJ winning. If the point wasnt deducted from fury it wouldve still counted as a draw since JJ won 3 rounds on the literal stats.

The fact that wade, round house, and Geordie have 3 different results and what rounds went to who...... just shows what being a judge in the moment and how hard it is looks like.

I’ve seen a lot of people say this fight was a draw. Forgetting about the scorecards I agree, there was no clear winner, no clear aggressor and neither guy did enough to cement a win. However looking at it from the scorecards, with a -1 to Fury a draw is highly unlikely with Fury winning if it’s 4-2 or KSI winning if it’s 3-3. With the minus we would have to have another round not be a 10-9 for a draw. There was no other 10-8 round here so you’d have to rely on the rare and discouraged 10-10 to get a draw.

I just want KSI to actually learn how to box not scrap. He has the work ethic to be a decent boxer

I am really surprised that ksi team and coach calculated really well on how to hide Tommys jab, which says a lot about every fight he fights.

I’d like to point out in a fight as close as this. Judges will always look toward the person that portrays a boxer better. KSI sure can confuse people but if he’s not finishing them or dominating then he’s not getting that judges decision. Edit: because some people don’t understand I’ll put more detail into it. Take an example I found on Reddit. The fight between Thor and Eddie the two strongest men on the planet. Both never been boxers but still did it because they wanted to beat the other. Thor the entire fight kept his hands up and used the fundamentals he learned. Eddie on the other side constantly had a hand down and went for big shots that gave him knockdowns. Unfortunately for him Thor was constantly getting the better of him. Always keeping his hands up and countering more frequently than Eddie. Ultimately giving Thor the unanimous decision because he not only portrayed a boxer better but he fought significantly smarter than Eddie.

I think the big issue is people are too fast to throw out the word “robbery.” You cannot have a close fight and a robbery. that’s a contradiction. I personally thought Tommy won, but I can understand that the fight was way closer than it should have been.

I watched the fight over 3x now. A couple constants and key reminders i feel are important is; 1: Tommy was allowed to control the pace, as JJ the entire fight seemed to accept the role of fighting on the backfoot to pull Fury into a shot. He rarely went forward himself and initiated his own pace. 2: JJ owned the clinch scenarios, he worked way more than Tommy did in the clinch. 3: both played the fainting game, trying to draw reactions and a lot of the time when they did go, they both went at the same time. Resulting in the fight being a bit of clinch fest. Constants: undoubtedly i feel KSI got RD1, and Tommy got RD3 and 4. KSI’s best round was the first, he landed the best shot, looked the most aggressive, focused, and determined. Tommy’s best round was the 3rd, he timed KSI almost perfectly, disrupted his patterns and looked the most aggressive in clinch scenarios. Something I don’t think he did enough in the fight. Rd 4 was similar, just not as perfectly executed as Rd 3. Rd 2 Tommy looked really good at the start, but when the point deduction occurred, he seemed to lose focus. And KSI who again owned most of the clinch work i think stole this round. Resulting in a 10-8 cause of the deduction. Round 5 was the opposite for me, where KSI started strong, but Tommy finished stronger. KSI looked the most dejected in this round. Round 6 Tommy looked the most dejecting and “fatigued.” With again a lot of clinching rather than working in there, he mainly complained. KSI did the opposite, and i think out of the two he went and got the last round. Which means i have KSI winning 57-56 solely based on the point deduction in rd 2. However, i agree with the sentiment that neither fighter deserved a victory, and a draw is reasonable to me for sure.

This is a fight that felt like a draw or an edge to KSI watching it live, but going to the scoring, I was very sure KSI won the first two and either 5 or 6 so i was very confused and surprised that it went to Tommy. It just didnt feel like the correct decision. How the two judges scored the 2nd to Tommy is wild to me

An epidemic we have in this scene is when influencers fight professionals is the constant clinching, Logan and Mayweather, Jake against Tommy, KSI vs Tommy, Antony Taylor when fighting both Idris and Tommy (although not as successful against Idris). It leads to very boring fights, that I think seem really close when first watched and it becomes clearer afterwards that these fights weren't as close as once thought. I know the reason they do it is because they know they are close to being knocked down, it's just not great for the sport.

KSI's team are literally on mic in between rounds telling JJ to keep clinching to get Tommy to hit him in back of the head to get points deducted....JJ bounced around and didn't commit to action he stayed in the corner making Tommy have to come in or else the fight would have been even more boring, JJ threw one punch and clinched then cried about a punch to the head to get points deducted which now we know was the whole plan...Tommy got hit multiple times in the head even 5 times in a row at one point and not once cried to ref! KSI did not win this fight! his whole plan was to get points deducted and purposely cried to the ref to achieve this so no stop giving this clown credit.

Watch it again ksi lost for sure. Not only that but he wasnt actually trying to box. You expect that to not count towards the scorecards? He came to clinch and throw in the clinch thats it. His gameplan was visible but this isn't mma.

You mentioning that Tommy isn't improving, and as much as I root for him I think you are correct and to me it seems to be his greatest weekness. Even though his dad is entertaining and wants to be at his side during the training and the fight itself, Tommy really needs to find a coach that can really get to him to next level. Someone who can speak some sense to him and make him understand his bad habits like no one else can and force them out of him.

KSI should've got a point deducted for all the excessive clinching he did his coach even said "you're up on all rounds, and he got a point deducted so stay in the clinch and he'll hit you in the back of the head again".. The commentary was so biased towards KSI i think it might've swayed people's opinion into thinking KSI got robbed cause that was the most biased commentary ive ever heard.. you can't claim robbery in a fight that close, and I don't want to hear anyone say you're biased against KSI again lol cause you had a slight bias for him in your livestream of the fight

Close fight = not a robbery, the only reason KSI would have won was because of a technicality, did we all have memory loss and forget the amount of back of the head shot he did to George last fight, Referee didn't even bat an eye. Ps. where was this "One Hit Knock out Power" from KSI.

Agreed with 99% of what you said. Theirs so many boxing fights where it was clearly a draw it was so close but ultimately someone is chosen as a winner, and it sucks for them. The only way to truly win a boxing match is to do noticeably better than your opponent, if you're doing the same or even just slightly better you risk losing the fight.

Tommy's biggest issue is he overcrowded himself, he can never get off full extension shots, which is compounded when facing someone like KSI who is moving on the inside really quick, it gives Tommy so little time to land a punch as he is also moving towards the inside. Tommy needs to get out of this habit, it makes sense when all his family has longer reaches than himself, that he goes to the inside, but he's fighting guys with shorter reaches, it just leads to him overcrowding and those back of the head shots, which would be legitimate hooks if he was fighting someone with a 84 - 85 inch reach, are not when it's someone who's reach is in 70s.

It was an absolutely terrible fight and it was that close because neither fighter done anything significant that it was going to be extremely close either way I thought it was a draw but can’t complain either he judges giving it to either fighter

Genuinely one of the worst fights I’ve ever watched. Nothing jake has done has come even close to as unwatchable as that. Jake vs Woodley 2 was shaping up to look like that but Jake ended that with the best knockout in this scene’s history. This was honestly an embarrassment for the sport!

Two judges scored R2 for TF, and two judges scored R5/R6 for JJ, if they scored R2 for JJ (the round he CLEARLY won, idk wtf the judges saw), JJ would have won

Not Tommy’s greatest performance but judges got it right in my opinion. I do think Tommy did fight too much with the desire to ko KSI rather than stick to what he’s naturally better at which is stick and move essentially granted when fighting another wild version of Anthony Taylor it’s hard to get off the shots you’re looking for when your opponent is hugging most of the time . KSI also threw way more shots in the back of the head and not one point was deducted. There were plenty of opportunities for Tommy to uppercut but again he got the win in an event that was pro ksi. Main event wasn’t great but I guarantee you if KSI wasn’t holding so much this fight would’ve gone differently.

I hate how people complain about this fight being boring, ksi went into the fight with the mindset of winning no matter what, ofc the strategy he chose wont be the most fun to watch but it will be the most effective and cleary it was effective enough to almost win/get a close descision loss. Not a robbery at all. Both fighters were horrific. Could've been a Tommy win, a draw or a ksi win, terrible fight to score. It's time we have a talk about KSI's skill, because his last 2 fights he has shown absolutely nothing great. Yes Jake lost more decisively but stole a couple rounds and actually tried to outbox Tommy and had some really good moments. (Also an absolute disgrace that Ksi's corner told him to clinch to get Tommy to punch him in the back of the head). KSI needs to go back to a drawing board.

I would disagree with Wade’s take. First of all, Tommy IS ahead of these boxers as far as actual boxing skills go. The only reason this boxing match was as close as it was because KSI was very akward and unorthodox. Had Tommy performed better or he he been a bot more experienced, KSI tactics would not have been suscessfull at all. Tommy won, KSI lost. A rematch would have been bad for KSI.

The UFC actually won that night... Tommy/KSI and Logan/Danis fights were absolutely terrible 💯 sorry Wade but lotta peopld wont watch influencer boxing after that mess... it was never exciting and the clinch-fest in the main was so frustrating to watch... many people turned to UFC fight night after and saw Barboza fight his ass off!!! KSI lost by a mile. The fight really wasn’t that close. Tommy was the aggressor and initiated almost every exchange. KSI constantly clinching negated Tommy’s ability to land successfully on a lot of exchanges but he had no output at all. I don’t get these punch stats KSIs sloppy jab and overhand did not land a lot so most must’ve been from the clinch. It was clear Tommy was the aggressor, more willing to exchange, and landed the cleaner punches. KSIs game plan was to make the match a stalemate not actually be effective offensively but it backfired.

The only big complaint i had about KSI in this fight is that he only used his right hand. I dont remember seeing a left power punch thrown by KSI

I scored it for KSI, 57-56. It was a close fight, so I can’t call it a “robbery,” & I’m fine with the decision. But, I give KSI all the credit. He’s a part time boxer who gave a pro boxer, who’s been boxing all of his life, problems. Any boxing fan that has seen Tommy fight, knows he is a low level pro at best. No matter what he says & no matter what his name is, he is not much better than the best influencer boxers. I have no problems with Tommy getting the win due to how close it was, but it’s just disappointing because KSI made Tommy so uncomfortable by dictating the style & pace, so I feel like he deserved the win more. But, that’s where Tommy’s experience paid off. And I do give him credit for having the worst performance of his career, fighting a different style, & still making it close to the point he got the unanimous win. I don’t agree, but that’s boxing. Close fights are hard to judge. The good thing is that everything is in line for Jake Paul vs KSI. Jake loses a split decision to Tommy but still knocked him down in the last round.. KSI loses a unanimous decision to Tommy but still made him have the worst performance of his career.. It’s time. I got KSI 🥊

I'm a retired professional boxing judge for 35 years I'm retired. KSI lost this fight unanimously. Because he never engaged 2 Box. We judges absolutely hate holding because you don't want to get hurt. And that's what was going on here. I watch this fight and I scored this Friday at home. Game scores is the judge came up with. 57 Fury 56 KSI across-the-board.

Ksi didn't engage and stalled with clinching. Boxing is mid-short range hand-to-hand combat. Ksi didn't engage in these two ranges, he was outside and clincing. With real championship pro-boxing referee like Kenny Bayless, Ksi would have been deducted a point for not engaging and stalling for each round. Tommy Fury won easy in boxing rules, if the match would been MMA rules Ksi could won. They should do Bare Knuckle boxing rules, so they can clinch and there would be no complaining.

The people saying “KSI shouldn’t have clinched” but they don’t keep the same energy for Tommy, who was clinching and holding just as much, hence why the ref didn’t take points for holding. When all the true fighters are saying it was a KSI win or draw actually have arguments to back their statements, the other side only say “Oh he clinched so he lost”. All these people are just pure KSI haters for no reason, and the worst part is that they don’t even know boxing enough to back their argument😂

The match should have been 8 rounds instead of 6 so we get a more definitive decision but I think JJ's camp knows his gas tank doesn't run that deep. So alas, we get a decision majority of the fanbase do not agree with and a very lack luster main event. I'm willing to bet this was the peak of Misfits boxing up until we get that Jake and KSI fight in the future.

People are a little too quick to throw around the word *robbery* I believe Tommy won even after rewatching the fight. KSI clinched excessively, which should have resulted in points deducted. KSI also landed more back of the head shots than Tommy, but somehow, only Tommy was blamed and had points deducted. KSI couldn't have really expected to win off of a clinch off. Yes, it wasn't Tommy Fury's best performance, but he had the cleaner shots throughout the fight

I don't understand those boxing or fighting channels to be honest, you have no fight experience or coaching experience. Tommy won 4 rounds (3,4,5,6) and he always had his foot forward and controlled the tempo and pushed forward while ksi tried to land a big right then went into a clinch, this deductes points from him which is why tommy got a majority decision. I'm not hating on what ksi did, it was great that he went the distance vs a "pro" boxer but yet again his style was extremely unorthodox which makes it difficult for anyone to "properly" box with him.

Ks had zero integrity when he lost the fight.

He was not robbed. He didn’t negate anything. All he did was duck under the right hand and hug. He lost. There’s nothing to break down here. U don’t win hugging. Tommy walked him down and tried to make a fight while ksi hugged. If u watch actual boxing these clown show events are easy to call and score.

JJ's whole gameplan was to bounce in the corner to make Tommy come in or else the fight would have been even more of a sleep fest and throw a right hand and clinch...but also to make Tommy hit him behind back of the head purposely turning his head into them, guessing you haven't watched JJs corner cam? you know where on mic we can literally hear KSIs coach telling him to clinch and let Tommy hit him in back of the head to get even more points off..... So no KSI didn't win this fight, him and his team put together a plan of just not fighting and instead doing star jumps and throwing a single shot then clinching and over exaggerating a hit to the head that JJ and his team WANTED they literally said during the fight to keep getting points deducted!

I don't think ksi wins in a rematch. Honesty I think tommy took him lightly. He didn't really have a game plan. I think he just thought he would jab him and it would be a death by 1000 cuts sort of thing, but KSI being so awkward and having a game plan with the bonus of the point deducted all swag it his way to (in my opinion get a 57-56 win for KSI). That being said if this was an 8 round fight tommy would have likely won the next 2 rounds. Now if they rematch tommy is gonna take it more seriously, he is going to have a game plan for that bladed stance, the fight is gonna be 8 rounds which only adds to tommy then he is going to make sure he cleans up his punches so he doesn't get another deduction. We you take off the Deduction it would have been a draw so it's hard to see ksi winning because what are the odds tommy puts himself in that position again.

I think what I hate the most about KSI is his ego about how good of a boxer he is, but even after all these years when the bell rings, he goes back to swinging like a mad man and all his 'technique' and 'skill' he claims to have just goes out the window. its annoying to watch.

Saying that ksi was the only one clinching like i saw some people say its extremely desingenious. It was a close fight ksi won round 1 and 2 plus deduction i thought it was a draw personally.

I will admit I was wrong about KSI. I thought he was a terrible boxer and a real boxer would pick him apart. He looked really good the first couple rounds but obviously gassed out. Rounds 3-6 he’d throw a punch and immediately clinch. I think Tommy controlled rounds 3-6 but neither guy did enough to clearly win more rounds than the other. I though tommy performed slightly better but with the point taken away, I definitely had a draw

The real losers are those who paid actual money to watch two grown men hug
