It also depends on which version of KSP you're trying to install the mods with. In v1.12.5, eve is dark like described here, has a thin purplish outline of an atmosphere, close fly bys you can see lightning all over, but the atmosphere itself is visually just not there. That's using JNSQ, EVE and Scatterer bc any other visual mods will not work with JNSQ (besides ad-astra) but I've seen EVE look just like Venus without ad astra, using just the mods I mentioned, but not past KSP v1.12.2@@lioshin

Try doing a clean install of KSP v.1.12.2 and for visual mods, ONLY install JNSQ, EVE and Scatterer. If you have any others they will not work with JNSQ's planets. I tried using them with v1.12.5 and EVE is just dark as you described. Up close you can see lightning strikes but it has no atmospheric visuals bc of conflicts between Scatterer and JNSQ, but with ksp v1.12.2 they all seem to run fine. I'm doing that right now if you haven't figured out a fix yet, try this.@@robertsitt5850
