cant wait to go to Eve myself, but in a 3.2x save with the Engineering Tech Tree installed, its gonna be some work. I had to really work to get a landing on the Mun and bring back a single kerbal. It wound up being a two rocket affair. The lander was sent into orbit while the crewed rocket was being built. From there the crew capsule was shot towards the Mun and the Lander followed a half hour later. Once in orbit around the Mun, the two spacecraft met up and the scientist got the short end of the straw to land..... He's down though. Now to get back (don't worry, he can)
Gilly's gravity is so low that even the little explosive charge of decouplers can either send your craft into an escape trajectory or send it plummeting towards the Gilly surface.

You should make a base on gilly with enough RCS thrusters to float around gilly! seeing the ssto hover above the ground when you were leaving gave me the idea lol. New to your vids but loving them so far, consider me subbed :)

+Matt Lowne I really like this craft and since you didn't have the file available, I decided to simply make a replica (so thanks for making a simple yet cool vessel). I replaced the science bay with a docking clamp, but I am having trouble getting the SSTOs that I try to build into space. I keep getting pulled down at about 7500 meters. I would gladly accept any advice you could give.
Matthew Killmer I'm pretty new to this but I can barely manage an orbit if I stay level mid atmosphere to build up speed, then pitch up slowly so the vector change is less immediate. Right when my engines flame out, I close my air intakes and switch my rapier's mode to use oxidizer. Gets me to around 80km. Just before I get out of the atmosphere i kick on the atom engines. I also like to save some oxidizer for when I get to apoapsis so I can get the orbit quicker. Now it's just a matter of landing on minmus to mine and refuel.
Hey man, I've been trying to learn about how to play KSP well and your videos always stand out as really well narrated. Also, the sponsorship segments always make me laugh! I am sorry that there are some people who are being cruel to you about the sponsorship- they must be jealous. It's great that you get something in return for making these videos, they are fun and helpful!
You should make a super functional MK2 ssto which has science equipment, can hold 6 people, has a cargo bay (which can hold a small rover, and also has a way of putting the rover back into the bay), can mine and can visit Laythe, Duna and most of the solar system
Just a small suggestion, I think that the songs "No Time for Caution" "Main Theme" and "Final Frontier" from the movie Interstellar are all amazing tracks to play KSP to and I think they'd be really good with these videos. "Time" from Inception would also be good. Even Pirates of the Caribbean music. Pretty much anything by Hans Zimmer goes good with KSP.
Waste a bunch of time! (Immediately go for an escape trajectory (Don't get into orbit at all), and fly by the Mun, Eve and Duna, to just come back into a stable orbit around Kerbin. (Dock with a station if you want) (Man I love using parenthesis don't I)
I put a one-kerbal lander on gilly and as soon as they EVA it just starts spinning for no reason. The poor kerbal had to use it's EVA pack to get back to the ship in orbit.
May not have been your most impressive mission, but a great video nonetheless! Have you ever thought about doing a career mode walk through? Maybe an SSTO career mode like Mark Thrimm, or are you mostly going to focus on another Duna Attacks/ Expedition Eve type series?
Could you please to a tutorial on how to get to Duna. I have been to the Mun and mimmus but I am really confused on how to get to Duna. Keep the good work up.
"the nuclear engines have the WORST T/W ratio" yes. but the engine with the ABSOLUTE WORST thrust! is the ion engines. and if we extend "engine" to anything that produces thrust then the "place anywhere rcs port" is the worst one
So many watchers misunderstand youtubers. It's a job. Like any other job. The way youtubers make money is through either sponsors or advertisement. This is no different from how a news anchor or a football player earns their money. We certainly don't say 'oh, the Knicks sold out to Budweiser... what greedy team they are.' Or 'Anderson Cooper... his show is interrupted by GEICO commercials, what a rip-off!' If you watch youtube, they make money through commercials, like any other entertainer.
I have made several ssto planes and I have only been able to get them into lko and have just enough fuel to bring them back. I have been trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I play on xbox so Idk if that makes a difference or not.
Yes I originally tried with 2 nerv and rapiers. I couldn't get it into orbit with that. not enough fuel. I tried adding more fuel then my craft seemed to weigh to much. so I went 4 rapiers and I can get in and out of orbit. I guess what I'm asking if I could get some specs on some ones space plane ie weight and fuel mainly. so I can have some sort of reference. as of now I'm at a stand still
