Power delivery is smooth and extremely tracktable , massive torque for mud bog and sand . it will climb any hill with ease as a machine but I cant comment on the human ability factor . the RFS range was massively engineered to put the Japs back into their box. I love mine and I have gone back to the RFS from very modern enduro bikes .
G'day Rob, Any idea of how many Hours are on your RFS & how would you rate the 525 for reliability? I bought an '03 525 recently but haven't put many hours it yet - It's in good nick with 3500 klms which seems alright for the age - The screw valve adjustment is definitely a winner - I had a CRF450x but it wasn't good for any Slow Technical stuff it Flamed out too easy- the 525 is much better all round imho - The 1st KTM I've ever owned! - Cheers Paul 👍🇦🇺
@@purebloodheretic4682 Hi Paul I have. Around 260 hours on her . Important thing is the regular oil and filter changed . Make sure the air filter seats properly as they are a bit tricky. Valve gaps are easy to do but need to be more regular than a shimmed set up. Keep the carb clean and serviced . If you change the piston and rings keep to. Stock ktm and change the oil pump drive wheels with it . A cheap item and worth it. I run Evans waterless coolant in mine and have the stock fan . I run 14t front and 50 rear for general use and 13 50. For technical Enduro hard and hounds. They are pretty bulletproof if looked after with some people reporting up to 25k miles on them.
@@robertpratt9965 Hey Rob, thanks for the advice, yep I replace the oil & filters regularly - a 20pk of filters & new chain & sprockets was the 1st thing I ordered for it - I'll check out the Oil Pump Drive & thinking of also putting an electric thermo fan on her as well - hopefully I'll get 260+ hrs out mine - The old school Austrian Built RFS KTM's definitely hold their own against newer machinery 😎 -Cheers 👍
