That baby deserves to be in the mountains. I bought one a week ago. I’m coming down / up from a Husqvarna Norden 901. A lot of difference! It came with double take mirrors, so no problem there. I’m 6’1” and I’m on my tip toes a little. But I can be flat footed too. It’s got a seat concepts seat on it. I think I’m gonna love it. Post from the BDR please. 👍🏻👍🏻

I wish I could post from the BDR, but I didn't end up getting to go!

Hey Impact, thanks for the vid! I also just purchased a 690 and am kitting it out. What kind of mounting system do you have for the tach, and what brand is the tach? I like the placement of it, and also the big numbers for my aging eyesight! haha! Thanks for taking the time to put this out there for the riding community.

Nice! Well congrats on the awesome bike! I think the tach is made by Trail Tech. I didn't install it. It's just mounted with sticky velcro. Haha I'm really enjoying making videos about my rides, so thank you for watching!

Hah! I just put 19,000 miles on a 21 890R, before that I put 51,000 miles on a thoroughly tricked out DR650. But, yesterday I found a deal on a 21 690R and had to get it. Very low miles, with a good 1200.00 spent on extras I would have bought anyway. Oddly both my tip toes touch down on the 690, but not on the 890R. 1 foot down at a time only. A DR and a 690 are literally in different time zones. Not even vaguely related. Even though Im a lifelong dirt rider, for me, near 500lbs is just plain too much. An 890 is no trailbike, great on any dirt road and wonderful on pavement. Gotta say the 690R makes the 890R feel like a Gold Wing, almost, on road anyway. 690 is kind of a hard edged beast, perfect for any BDR for sure. No I didnt sell the 890.

Funny i had an XR650L and sold it to buy a 701 enduro. Now i'm wanting a XR650L again because I just don't need to be ripping the 701.

This may happen to me. But in the meantime - I'm going to ride the 690 as hard as I can! It's definitely a better bike than I am a rider.

@@impactmotochannel In fairness i've had the 701 for two years now so i've done plenty of roosting and wheelies.

Tried to post a link to Cycra U-Clamp handlebar mounting brackets on your other video, but apparently it got deleted. Anyway, thanks for the great videos!

@@impactmotochannel I actually replied/posted twice and looked later for a response, but it was gone. I didn't think it was you; I assume it was RU-vid not wanting links to vendors? Anyway, just google Cycra U-Clamp brackets and there will be lots of options. Keep the vids coming!

Hi guys and girls, Hoping people can help me?! I realise that this may seem like a really silly question, but…. I’m considering a 690 enduro OR a 390 adv sw. A bit of background on my rider profile…. Bike history: MT-09, triumph thruxton, DRZ400SM. Ridden mostly on pavement, but always done a bit of light off-roading on husky 250 etc. I want a bike for: - 40% exploring a very wild part of the world offroad. - 40% 5 mile commute to work on highway. - 20% town (super hilly and terrible cobble roads) Things I know I love in bikes and riding: - that load up in the corners you get on street going dirt bikes. - being able to use all the bikes power (I couldn’t on the MT09) - exploring offroad and getting anywhere. My skill level… - riding for 13 years. -90% off my riding has been on road. But I now live in a place with crazy amounts of offroad. - pure amateur. Love riding on and offroad. I can do most things that aren’t too steep offroad. As long as I have a lightweight bike. - I like aggressive riding, which is why I have enjoyed being limited by the bike. I’m not good enough (nor want to) ride like a mad beast at crazy speed. I love everything I hear about the 690 enduro, the only final question is, is it going to be too much my bike for me?! Will I be able to put all that power down, or will I feel like I’m always only using 70% of the bikes power?? Any helps would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

I'll throw in my two cents: I bet you'd like the XR650L. You have a short commute so it won't be too bad in town, then you'll be on a real dirt bike when you get out in the woods! Either way, dual sport is the way to go! Best of luck to you!

A smaller, less powerful bike is going to pay dividends learning to ride off road. They're easier to ride, easier to work on and easier to pick up when you drop them. The 690 is a beast and will do everything you ask of it, but the weight compared to an EXC or similar will be wearing once you're off the pavement. If you're only planning some gravel roads and double track it'll be fine, if you want to get into anything more technical a smaller bike is a better option.

Thanks for the input! :) Ended up going for the 390, mostly due to budget. Turns out it’s a beauty! Obviously way heavier than the lightweight offroad stuff, but still super stable in very broken and slippy terrain. There had been a lot of comments online about the rider position being rubbish offroad; and out of the box it was. But literally all I had to do was shift the stock bars forward and adjust the levers and rear brake pedal and boom! She’s a beauty. Plenty of room when up and riding. I’m 6’0” and 75kg. She dances. Spinning the back on climbs doesn’t even feel like a thing. Bike is super planted and nice. I might follow the advice tho and get a little 180 2 stroke for the pure off-roading tho
