picking up the svartpilen tomorrow, and yes, they are restricted for the first 1000 km to 7500 RPMS, after the first service you can access all its power at 10.000RPMS, and if you add performance mods like a full exhaust system, cat delete, and change the gearing to your preference, you can do 0-100 in 4seconds flat, or reach a top speed of 200km (maybe slightly more) which is crazy to me to think that an A2 license "small" bike can be so quick and rapid. Great video btw:)
I own a Svartpilen 401, and absolutely love it. Both design- and performance-wise. But I have to tell you that your comparison is a bit flawed since the Svartpilen 401 is basically a Duke 390 with new fairings, dash and headlight ;) (plus quickshifter as stock, better suspension parts, different seat etc ... but technically its the same bike) Husqvarna is owned by KTM, and they heavily rely on the proven Duke 390 platform for the Svartpilen 401 - by the way, the engine comes from the Euro5 KTM 390 Adventure, so you can fit the 390ADV engine plate if you modify it to clear the sidestand
I bought the 2021 KTM 390. Look's much better in the grey and black and orange. Build quality has been excellent and at the moment you can get a 2022 model for under 7000 thousand on road. It's a great bike.
As a potential beginner for a number of years of looking at bikes I remember seeing a 401 parked up on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne when thy first came out. I was absolutely blown away by the styling and presumed it was some completely out of reach super bike. When I found out the price I was beyond delighted. Still incredibly beautiful where as the duke is typically KTM, which in my opinion is heinously ugly. ALL OF THEM!
Great comparison video! I'm seriously considering the Svartpilen 401 - currently on a Triumph Street Twin. The only thing that have me hesitating is the question around reliability. Quite a few online reviewers have commented on electrical issues (ABS error) and engine curling off while down shifting. I realise you probably didn't have the bike long enough to warrant a long term review but any comments generally on reliability that you may have noticed or heard? thx!
I have my Svartpilen for 5.000km now, and I can tell you that I've had absolutely *no* issues so far. And I have ridden it in winter as well as put it through its paces offroad too, so I'm not giving it a light treatment
@@danielhahn55 , Thanks for your insight. I sold my Triumph and got myself a 2020 Svart 401 about a month ago. Second hand so it's already past the 1000km break in period. I love the thing as I do mostly inner city riding. I do notice that I've had a handful of engine cutoff occurrences when I'm in 1st gear - clutch in and coasting in low rpm and speed. Nothing to raise a stink on but a bit annoying.
What's the problem if my Svartpilen 401 doesnt start at all? I never use it for almost 2 weeks, this morning i start it to warm up but it wont work at all. The panel board lights working and there's a sound eveytime i try to turn it On... I dont know what to do! Pls help
I daily my spartvilen and the quick shifter works amazing.... has anyone found the neutral position? It seems like mine comes and despears from time to time
@@-MANWITHN0NAME- if you mean to go jumping and doing crazy things off road I pass. In a technical note, I found the protective exhaust plate being very thin and broke mine on the first hit. I guess the bike sits too low for off road purposes. Never the less I rode during heavy rain and was very impressed with the ABS reaction, gave me confidence to push harder under those conditions.
@@kanzzon I think most models of KTM 390 and Husq 401's have those problem. I own svart 401 for 5 months now and the neutral is always kind of difficult to precisely hit. But it doesn't affect my riding that much since I don't go neutral while on stoplight. You just need to have a lighter feel on finding it.
Got my svartpilen 401 last week. Neutral is a bit tricky. I have found that second if you just light tap and release to first, it gets to neutral. If you tap deep and hold, it goes to first. From first to neutral, I am still havimg issues. Also, my.third gear position is giving issues. So, I am having to stomp.it from 4th to 3rd and also stomp from 3rd to 2nd. At the dealer to have a look.
The husky looks amazing. I just wish it was a bit lower so my partner could also ride it but I think she might not be able to touch the floor... This makes me consider the duke instead...
You do like both bikes but it seems quite obvious that you're a Duke lover, specially when you made the observations about the 390 color scheme. Nice video though. Thanks! 👍
great video , spun me out that you started the KTM video in Linda street Hornsby , i used to live in that street back in the day , took my daughter to the park at the bottom of the street where you turned left and rode down towards the round about , question , where were you filming the Huski ??
Was thinking of selling my MT07LA and getting one of these used until I get my full license.. Not able to use full potential of the Mt07 in streets.. love the neo futuristic look and the high revvy engine.. what do you guys think?
thanx for the vid. which bike do you think better for sports riding like winding, aggressive starting so on. I mean I own duke390 now but I am considering getting 401. Do you think it is worth?
Having ridden both of these.... did you notice they lean and turn differently? I found that Husky 401 is locked on it's line once leaned, it just snaps into intended trajectory. While Duke 390 doesn't feel like that. Quite the opposite: it feels like it wants to fall more and more. Makes Duke quicker to change direction. But I find Husky's behaviour more novice-friendly. Do you agree? Do you reckon it's tyre-related or something else?
@@Brookmanrider well we're not in a disagreement. I've said same: husky more friendly. I just keep wondering why that exact difference with leaning exists. Thought you might share your opinion on that. All I can think of so far is tyre choice.
@@Brookmanrider thanks for the confirmation, so spoke wheels and adjustable suspension on the Husky! Wow just those items alone put the Husky way ahead in terms of value for money👌🏼
The husky looks better but you cant turn off abs and its taller.. which sucks for the girlfriend or friends that don’t ride much. Considering the duke for a “guest bike” . Plus just look at parts, 35,000 results on eBay for the duke. Only 1600 for the husky? Kinda scary if you run into an issue and need something.
concerning mechanical parts, you can 100% take them from the duke to use on the Husky. it's 1:1 the same bike (may have to look at KTM 390 Adventure parts in some exhaust related cases)
@@sherlockholmes5062 can confirm 100%, I used it extensively when having fun on gravel roads lately! also my girlfriend is a beginner rider and she had the best and easiest time ever on my husky (svartpilen 401 2021 model)
