Yes. I confirmed through KTM part numbers that the OEM 1090 throttle tube w/grip is the same as other Adventures & Duke 690 & 1290. It’s likely all the KTM models are the same, but G2 lists the 1090 as a different throttle which I suspect is an error on their website. Order the one from the link I provided below to their website. It will be correct. Or call them if you want confirmation. The G2 part number is 40-340.

Thank you for watching and the compliment! You are going to have a world of fun on the thing! I can't get enough of it! Barely sleeping. Toying with the idea of selling my other gas bikes. Was even looking at an Alta last night to more directly replace my 250SX. I sort of still need a bike for trail range so there would be overlap with the Freeride (which would be silly waste of $). I rarely do mich long range, but thats what most of my friends do here. Riding alone I love (practice) but sometimes it's nice not to be a hermit and ride with the bros. I will be racing motocross on the Freeride. Hoping to race the Hawaiian Supercoss even maybe. I think it would be insanely fun! And fast! Taylor made for it. Can you imagine the stadium's response! 🤣✊⚡️ I'm so far behind on videos. So much I want to get out there about these things.... trying to have fun too though 🤣 Sometimes you just have to escape the camera... like getting away from Facebook and enjoying a ride. Aloha 🤙

The one person that dislikes this video has never broken a throttle tube and gone to buy one at the dealer and been told, “It’s not in stock. We can have it in a week.” Or they can’t afford a G2. I made this video as a journeyman parts guy/manager, so I could help keep the community of KTM Freeride E users and inform other KTM E-Gas owners of options in a situation where the is no time to order parts. They might be able to find the correct part that’s listed under another model’s part number from a small dealer wherever they’re riding. The part numbers through KTM are different due to having a different handgrip glued on or something. This information IS NOT FOUND elsewhere.

Check out ducati spacers for your ktm. Took all the slack/wiggle out of the throttle. Nice n tight and smooth. Just how I like it... 😁

@@JohnHowerton137 That hilarious! I wasn't sure what you were talking about at the end! Thank you for that, I found out about them about 5 months ago and purchased a pair. I may have been able to fabricate something similar but it's not something you want to mess around with and have fail on you 😁. Worth the money for sure. So simple but such a great thing to install. Thanks again for making those possible.

Yes, I did fabricate a few of my own during the process, but I run the production ones. Not exactly something you want to get jammed up in the throttle. They seem expensive until your throttle is stuck wide open and you eat crap 😉 Makes the bike so much better, especially the ebike where the throttle input is so sensitive.

Hi John, I really appreciate your work with these videos, very helpful! Question: Given there is no fuel tank, do you think the EXC could be transported on its side (flat)? I’m thinking of the possibilities for a motovan build.

Should be. I see no reason why not. Its basically like a bunch of sealed D cells in a sealed box. There is a cups worth of oil in the gearbox, but I it's prob sealed. Just remember, it's a dirtbike. Sometimes they're super muddy. Maybe even have some cow pucky on them 🤣 Make the van cleanable. Hoseable preferably!

Hi 👋 sir, I bought the same throttle tube for my Duke 890R, hoping it’s getting smoother, but unfortunately it’s still stiff because of the sensor recall spring. It becomes very tiring on hand and forearm, after just few kilometers riding. Do you know if could be possible to open it and replace the stock spring with a softer one? It’s really really annoying in my opinion. I even considered the option of relocating it under the seat and build some kind of box with pulleys/cable system that make it smoother to turn, even paying a wider angle to reach full throttle opening.

Compared to other bikes, these are not stiff throttles. Are you sure it's not binding somewhere or have some glue residue on the bar or in the tube?

@@JohnHowerton137 Thank you for your answer. It’s all perfectly clean. Before this one, I owned a katana with cable throttle body. Spring on it is very soft because due to safety specs throttles shaft is about half a millimeter from the middle in order to make it close automatically by vacuum. I could ride very aggressively into twisties for hours, without any pain, soreness eccetera. Now with a 50 kilograms lighter bike I get in pain with my hand and arm. Pain, tingling finger and a large callus in the palm of the hand near the little finger. Never happened with the old bikes (katana and Z900rs) To be honest I didn’t read someone has that problem too. Anyway, thanks again.

@@solino2002andrea ok. Well been so long since I had it apart so I don't have and answer for you. Sorry. I will say the numbness is a mechanical/ergonomics issue. No doubt you are plenty strong enough to turn a tiny spring if you can ride these big motorcycles. With your elbow dropping and the increased throttle resistance, you're likely activating your trapezius muscles and tightening the scalenes in your neck/shoulder area. These overworked/tight muscles are pinching the nerves. If you look into this area first (lots of therapy videos on YT), the throttle might not be an issue anymore. Maybe it's as easy as you doing some rhomboid exercises and getting a nice massage to keep this pain away 🤷‍♂️ Best wishes!

Hi John! Awesome content! Thank you. I have a question please. I have a fused right wrist... On 4 strokes with push - pull throttles, I can switch throttle to the left side and then swap the 2 push - pull cables. Perfect solution to rotate the correct way. I want to get a freeride or other e bike soon. I have not been able to see how the throttles are assembled. My first rudimentary thought was to flip to left side, and mount with housing and electronics still on left side of the grip. Therefore it would still rotate the correct way (bark buster to protect housing). 2 questions please!! Do you think that would work the way its assembled and attaches to the bars? (like I said, I haven't been able to physically see one!) question 2, any ideas on how to mount properly on the left and still rotate the correct way? I super appreciate any advice or thoughts. There's a lot of adaptive athletes that could ride e bikes!

Hmm. I'm about to go work on the bike (tire changes) I'll take a gander at the throttle. Should be able to get back to you soon. I know if I had an issue like that I'd still want to ride, so I'll do what I can figure it out for you 🤙

@@RydenAround it would take hours (I don't have) to see if things could be flipped around, etc... My gut almost thinks they could with a full day or two of messing around. This is the best I could do with the time I had without cutting all the zip ties etc.. holding it all together.

Make sure you watch the other throttle video too. That’s where the real benefit comes from. The G2 is a nice/good piece of kit though too.
