KTM / Husqvarna 350s/exc mods to get the most out of your bike! 350 uncorked and NO MORE flameouts!

Here is a comprehensive list of all the mods that were done from this bike. All the mods were "bolt on" and something the average mechanic could perform if one takes their time. Some were very inexpensive and some were more costly, but the end result is a very good running bike for all situations while still maintaining factory reliability.
Parts used in this video:

That carbon fiber protector isn’t big enough. Our second ride on my buddies 350, he dumped it and put a big dent in the exhaust, forward of where your protector is. They make ones that wrap way around. Another good upgrade is a key delete. We use a module off an xcw 350 KTM and now the light goes off when you shut the bike off. With the key, the lights stay on. I still carry the key module in my backpack and it takes 5 min to reinstall if needed. Biggest upgrade we all did was running tubliss front and rear. We say it’s cheating. Steering control on mossy roots is a breeze and big time improved traction due to the ability to run very low pressure in the rear. Man I don’t know how your getting away without full hand guards. I would’ve destroyed those. Cycra pro bends. I swear by them and get the adaptor that mounts them onto your triple clamp and not on the handle bars so they don’t spin if your drop the bike. Looking forward to your wheel balancing video. I’ve always wanted to do that and it’s even more noticeable running tubliss. Thank s for the video. Very interested in the radiator upgrade

John add a brake snake so there is no loss of the pedal also use a block on those swingarm tabs to protect them they are very vulnerable. I performed all of your upgrades and more on my 2019 350 excl and they work great. Also I manufactured a header pipe guard to protect header from dents. Cheers

With running a GPS or phone regularly, look into the stout mount by moto minded. The GET ECU with traction control is probably the most notable upgrade you can make on the 350/500 platform. My 501 is a completely different machine with similar upgrades. I did a similar video on my page breaking down my 501, and plan on doing one like this to show and discuss the detailed changes of each upgrade. Good video! 👍🏻

I am also considering the Husky over the KTM because of the linkage. I'll definitely do the seat concepts low seat and the linkage and should help me a bunch! Thanks so much for posting this content!! Keep up the awesome vids!

Thanks for your kind words and for watching! The linkage definitely helps bike ride lower. I have been riding a KTM 300 and it sits a tad higher under my body weight making it harder to get to the ground for my short little legs!

Thanks for the video man. Its great. The power upgrades are confusing tbh. I need to learn more first so its probably me, but you could go into what each upgrade is doing for the bike. Like the o2 sensor from the factory does XXX and when you get this kit it allows the bike to do XXXX. But Great video man. Thanks!!!

I wouldn’t say you “have” to - but it is necessary to increase the longevity and performance. For some people, the stock form is just fine. Great bikes nonetheless!

Thank you! Yes, it ia nuts. The street legal bikes can take a tad more tweaking as they come so lean from the factory, but they run good without any mods. However, with a few minor changes they wake up and run almost like the dirt bike!

Nice video, you and I have the same bike and we even run the same tires. That said you have gone for a ton of bling and such that I don't run. I use a Vortex from Tokyo Mods, I have the full titanium FMF with the carbon can and I have had my suspension race prepped for my height and weight using the Racetech gold valve kit with rebound adjustment on the bottom of the folks (NOW THATS AN UPGRADE). She has had California removed from her and she is a missle. That said I have to question something you said and thats your oil change frequency. You said you change your oil every three to five hours. How do you do that? Go out to the trails, ride in the AM do an oil and filter change then go ride in the afternoon? I don't believe that for one second and if you really do change your oil every three to five hours then you are doing it because you love to tinker, not because it is good advice or even required. There is absolutely no reason to change the engine oil every three to five hours. There is no way that bike gets ridden hard enough to need an oil change after 15-20 hrs let alone every 3 to 5. The reason I bring this up is that your title says mods to get the most out of your bike and this is not a mod and isn't even good advice. That's not my personal take, it's a fact. Telling folks they will get the most out of their bike by changing the oil every three to five hours tells people this bike cannot be ridden even for an entire day without needing an oil change which is utter BS. I appreciate you trying to help folks out but I am also not sure all the blue bling helps anyone get the best out of anything. You don't see all that BS on Billy Bolts bike and he is a 5 time hard enduro world champion rider for HSQ. I have put this here in writing and as I hate when folks just throw bling at something they automatically tell the world it's an upgrade when most of the time it's just unnecessary bling that actually does nothing for the bike and can even be detrimental to the running of the thing. Not hating on you bro but just you kinda Pi$$ed me off with that 3 to five hour oil change BS, because it is BS. Oh and to get the most from that bike don't use a simple remap gadget like a Power Commander, change the ECU for a Vortex and get rid of that pipe, remove the reed valves from inside the airbox and all that garbage emissions stuff, do some suspension work if you are over 130lb (they come from the factory setup for a 130lb rider), the steering stabilizer is great, you and I have the same system and it helps because she is a little twitchy. All that blue bolox is because you like it and that's totally cool but please don't try and sell it as "upgrades" to get the most from your bike because it's bolox. New riders may see that and say F that, I'm not buying a bike that needs all this crap and can't even run a day without requiring a full oil and filter change. BS like this hurts our sport ina big way and damages the HSQ brand.

I tried to find one a month ago or so for a different bike and they, at least at that time, didn't appear to carry them anymore. Maybe they will be in stock again soon, not sure what the story is with that or if there was a problem with them and they dropped them as a product. Wish I knew what the story was on them. I put the GET ECU and Taco evap kit on this morning. After a short ride with some technical stuff, I’m very happy. I didn’t pull the reeds yet, I probably will tomorrow. The traction control seems to work too. I did notice that my fuel vent hose, the same blue one you have, was hissing when I would stop for a break. Is that normal? It sounded like pressure, not vacuum. Also, thanks for this video. I’m probably going to copy a bunch of your stuff.
@oregonmotojohn
@oregonmotojohn Год назад
Nice work! It sounds like your build is going really well! I haven't noticed any hissing from mine, makes me wonder if there is a check valve in tank cap or blue hose that is stuck. Maybe blow through it backwards and then retest to see if that helps. You could pull it all the way off and see if cap hisses. If it doesn't, it would make me believe the hose has a valve that is doing something strange. If it appears to be the hose, maybe reach out to tacomoto and see if they have any suggestions.

The bike looks great with the graphics. It's a pity some of the aftermarket headlights are too bright for road use. It's easier to remap the engine than it is to get a good all round headlight!. Hopefully some manufacturers will come up with something that gives the user more options with the brightness and beam modes.
@phantomsky8592
@phantomsky8592 Год назад
Acerbis makes a nice LED headlight that is technicaly for off road only because it disables your low beam but MotoMinded sells a adapter for it that lets you use low beam.

Thank you! My first shot at graphics so it was fun to do but does take some time. I agree, this headlight is either dimmed or super bright. Way too bright on the highway when on high beam. When the bike was new and had the stock headlight, I drove it home from the dealership about an hour away from my home in the dark and it felt like a near death experience...I just followed the tail lights in front of me and hoped for the best. That trip made me feel lucky when I finally arrived at my home. :)
