KTM India has silently launched the 2016 KTM RC390, which made its premiere at last year’s EICMA show in Milan, Italy. However, for the Indian market, the 2016 RC390 misses out on a few key features, though pricing remains unchanged.
Next up, KTM has deleted the headlight on/off switch thereby giving the motorcycle an “always on” headlight. Speculations are rife that the Indian government may ask manufacturers to make this a mandatory feature on motorcycles, to ensure better safety levels on highways especially during bad weather conditions
The India-spec 2016 RC390 misses out on the ride-by-wire system, the canister exhaust (EU-4 compliant for the European market) and the larger front disc. However, KTM has not increased the price of the RC390 either. It continues to be priced at INR 2,13,504, ex-Showroom, New Delhi (INR 2,37,373 on-road New Delhi).
The 2016 KTM RC390 continues to be powered by the 373.2 cc single-cylinder engine capable of 43.5 PS and 35 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox
The KTM bikes are already technology rich and they are in fact known for the use of latest technology and quality parts. Be it the WP suspensions used at both the ends and the ABS (Anti Lock Braking System) from Bosch or the full digital meter console displaying host of information, KTM bikes are loaded with gadgets. Surpassing their own limits, KTM has decided to feature the 2016 RC 390 with state of the art “Ride By Wire” technology.
