It’s definitely cool that more people can enjoy it, it is also a litttleee bit irritating that this new one has a slightly better motor only after a year of the original bike 😅
Thanks for your thoughts about the new batch of the RC 8C - absolutely agree. Fitting the carbon fairing from Rade/Garage right now since the original is still unused. For me investment turns to track tool... ;)
Very cool, I think that’s a good idea. I’m going to get a fresh set of the orange OEM for when it’s time to retire it, but for regular track/racing I’m going to stick with the carbon or my spare set. Enjoy!!!
I generally don’t have an issue with EVs as a commuter vehicle, but I sure as hell love the sound of my bikes as sport bikes! Especially the roar and bark of my RC!
Thanks so much! Nice Duke btw! I think a realistic expectation would be a sport/street variant of the Duke 890. They can leverage a lot of the same chassis/swingarm/subframe and change the front. That’ll also keep the price in the supersport range whereas the RC has a completely different chassis that isn’t interchangeable. Would be really cool to see a sport variant of a 890 for sure!
Awesome vid as always! The UK race bikes run an oil cooler and this gives 3bhp over stock. they also remove the winglets, thru the speed trap 6mph faster!!! keep up the great work
Thanks Andrew, appreciate it! I spoke with some of the folks that run the team. There’s also a team in France that claim they’re getting a reliable 140hp to the wheel and are on a path towards 145hp, there’ll be some internal work needed (camshaft along with few other things) and oil cooler. I’m figuring out what it all entails and will see if I can get it for my bike since I compete regularly against the higher horsepower Superbikes!
Wonder if those engine mods can be retrofitted? Valves, rods, pistons and clutch are easy enough. Not sure about the balancer. The extra revs would be useful.
I would love the extra revs, there’s segments in my local track where revving out just a few hundred more RPMs could save a shift and be more efficient, the higher horsepower could also help stretch its legs out a bit more at a track like COTA.
I agree, funny enough though, last year at Jerez one of the 25 customers of the 2022 KTM RC8C bought the bike as his *first* track bike and his *first* track day ever was riding it at Jerez. He comes from dirt bike background and rode really well. It is a friendly bike compared to the 600cc inline4 sportbikes, but it definitely isn't a beginner bike.
150 hp would have been a game changer. Definitely could match up with the V2. I would wait for the hp increase on the next version. Do you have any inside info?
Agreed, I think the smart thing to do is skip this one and keep an eye out for a future iteration. Rumors of a 990 motor, if ktm develop a 990 motor then it’ll make its way into a RC/track offering. Squeezing 150hp out of a 890 motor is likely possible but it would definitely require more upkeep/regular maintenance and I’d question its durability. 990cc on the other hand, well within its capability as proven by Ducati.
@@NuvolariF1 I owned a Tuono Factory and have ridden RSV4, beautiful beautiful sound. The best production sound in my opinion. Lovely bikes! To be very honest, you simply can’t go wrong with modern bikes. Especially in the superbike category, pick your favorite engine characteristic, then pick your favorite color, then full send! 👊
@@vtranmoto it’s red for me if you know what I mean. Fell in love with the PASO. Nicky Haden was my hero RIP. Unbelievable year when he won the GP title. I was disheartened when I heard of his tragic death.
That is 100% coming! This weekend is my final race round of the season so all the focus has been on the RC8C, then we can switch gears to the Moto3. I’m *stoked* to share more on the Moto3! Thanks for checking in!
As soon as I saw this I thought of you! And yes, definitely get it if you can. Also I wonder what’s the possibilities of just buying the engine? Is this something they’re going to do again in another two years. Furthermore is there any validity to the rumors of a 990 engine? Wow so exciting though.
Thanks Dukie!!! If I keep my current one, there’s a team in Switzerland and in France that have been working on race internal parts for the 890 motor: oil cooler, lighter alternator, lighter camshaft, etc that can squeeze out similar power as this new RC8C. But I’ll have to open up the motor and do some of these mods and also tune the bike…or…just pay the money and get the official one. 😅 I think the 990 is on the horizon. I’ll poke and prod and see what I can learn. 👍
@@calebhakains5866 the 890 motor parts are universal! speed-box.ch/en/sales/products/8-engine-kraemer-ktm/ It’s a pretty serious investment, around $5-7k total but it’s what you could do to make the motor more competitive on track.
I did not! But tbh it’s a pretty marginal improvement so I’m not too bummed about it. The thing I do regret is not being able to do the Valencia launch! The Jerez experience is probably the most extraordinary motorcycle thing that I’ve been able to do so I’m feeling quite a bit of FOMO right now.
