If you are rich in Malaysia to be honest you’ll living life almost like heaven. You enjoy the city life, then on the weekend you can go to your weekend house with beach view or paddy field view, you’ll have farm and durian farm. Even if you are in middle class, you living quite healthy life. Sometimes people view “successful” from amount of money, yea money are important equally as quality and peaceful life for most Malay.

It means a lot of holiday that you can de-stress by going hiking, scuba diving, visiting the oldest rain forest in the world, go shopping, go for entertainment, etc... we got it all....world oldest rain forest, shopping/entertainment place, delicious food, world class scuba diving, magnificent beaches, etc 😁😁😁

You can't really escape the high costs of living in Singapore, it is either you keep up or you can't survive, need money for everything, so work till you die, very stressful. In Malaysia, you could save up money, buy housing and land in states with lower costs of living and retire when you are in your 50s.

Singapore has a very fast pace of life. Most Singaporeans are rushing to work or doing their chores, leaving them very little time to engage in casual conversations with other people.

With greater impactful developments like this, Klang Valley must further improve public transportation, have greatly maintained/constructed highways/roads, design/manage townships superbly and have lots of greenery, parks. Need to be world-class benchmarked with best of the best in the world in each category, nothing less now.

@@asmaali7293 Because there are no well regarded universities in Malaysia. Chinese Malaysians work hard and save so they can send their children overseas to get a proper degree. The universities in Malaysia exist to meet the needs of the New Economic Policy established after the 1969 riots. The plan was to raise the level of education of the Malays by giving free university education. While good in theory the government school system was so poor, and the Malays so lazy, that very, very few were capable of coping with degree level work. As the program couldn't be seen to fail, degrees were awarded regardless making them worthless. Nothing has changed since and a Malaysian degree isn't worth the paper it's written on which is why the unemployment rate among Malay graduates is higher than any other group. Malaysia also offers scholarships to overseas students but only to Muslims. The education is obviously just as poor. As mentioned, Chinese Malaysians are generally educated overseas where they get meaningful degrees. They either return and are in high demand or they stay overseas where they're not subject to Malaysia's racist laws and where they're treated as equals.

Cant stress enough how important that a city is clean without being sterile. Dubai was not a good experience in that regard

Back in the late 70s and 80s, students from malaysia went to canada for tertiary education. At the university in Canada, they were asked by canadians..." do you live in trees?" Malaysia then is under rated, unpopular, never heard of...🙂😄 But we malaysians dont mind what foreigners think of us.

Malaysia has been a middle income country since 1979...but it's trapped in it for 40 yrs now, reaching only high middle income status for quite a while now. The positive side is since it hasn't climbed the value chain to become a high income developed country, everything is still relatively cheap while giving a high standard of living on parity with the current level of purchasing power. When I was an engineering student in London in the late 1970s, my Bangladeshi landlord couldn't believe it when I told him that we make washing machines and air conditioners etc at home in Malaysia at that time. Thank god he never thought we made them on trees 🤣

Cause you are looking at it from your Canada point of view, it's expensive for locals and frankly it's not that cheap, have seen 60-100$ per night. Which is of course still ultra cheap for luxury that is 1000$ elsewhere.

Bcs of our weak currency. Altho our currency is gradually weakening, our inflation is not as high as the western countries (UK/US/Europe) hence why prices are not going up rapidly and that tourists with strong currencies can benefit greatly from our weak currency.

Currency manipulation and government subsidies. The MYR is deliberately not pegged to USD. Malaysia advantages to other countries is how developed yet affordable it is, the government knew this of course, and that's why MYR is kept at a low rate.

@@ZubZubi Yes the hotels can be cheap but the service is often appalling. It can be nice but KL is dirty, smelly, noisy and dangerous. Malaysia lacks any history and this makes it unique in south east Asia.

28$ must be limited offer or something, the actual fancy places with the high infinity pools are around 100$ per night but jt is legit luxury that costs 1000$ per night elsewhere. And yes locals cannot afford at all that. Malaysia is the most developed country in that region but still poor in comparison to the expensive countries.

There tends to be less of a middle class and bigger gap and separation between the rich and the poor in developing countries. In my country (Bulgaria, Eastern Europe) is pretty much same, similar prices for the 5 star hotels and yes many of the locals cannot afford to spend such money for overnight stay. We have fancy beach resorts and ski resorts which tend to accommodate richer people from Western Europe like Germany, France, Brussels, Netherlands, UK and so on.

Okay but is not luck, is all about having good investment plans most of all trading with a trust worthy expert. You're so right. This is the first time I've ever seen a foreigner knowing the cultural nuance. Some but like a lot of them, don't know how to speak Malay properly which is the national language, don't want to learn it & there are some who despise it. Can you imagine an Englishman, a French or an Arab who doesn't know how to speak English, French or Arab respectively? It's unacceptable right? Some of them also didn't identify as a Malaysian first but as a Chinese, didn't embrace the Malaysian culture. No Chinese company with other race in the higher ups ever & if a multinational company started to have them in the executives position they'll damn make sure only them will fulfill the position. Not to mention 'mandarin speaker' only (actually this is a facade, if you are not Chinese but know how to speak Mandarin they still don't want you) in their job requirement in Malaysia! Also the salary. The starting salary for Chinese is hugely different sometime up to 3x compared to Malay in the same company, same position, same job/workload. They said they are being prejudiced by law but they are the richest race in Malaysia haha what a joke. The laws favouring the bumiputera is because the British colonizer & them have scooped up the nation's wealth for hundreds of years while isolating, separating & discriminating the native Malays from it. After the independence the law was put in place to develop the left behind Malays.

They play victim as if they're so oppressed by the law here but they themselves are doing thr same thing economically. And all these because they got the early advantage by the British.
