There was nothing in a local newspaper about whether the annual Wesak Day procession in Kuala Lumpur (there were several articles about the one planned in Penang) would take place and where it starts (temple above Brickfields? a temple in Petaling Street area?) and ends; but they usually pass through Bukit Bintang after 9 PM as that's when people just seem to know to start lining the streets.... As usual, the local Nepali and Myanmar communities also marched or had floats...
Wesak Day in Malaysia is a national public holiday. Wesak Day or Vesak, also known as Buddha Jayanti, Buddha Purnima and Buddha Day, is a holiday traditionally observed by Buddhists and some Hindus on different days in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Tibet, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mongolia and the Philippines and in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam as "Buddha's Birthday" as well as in other parts of the world. The festival commemorates the birth, enlightenment (Buddhahood), and death (Parinirvāna) of Gautama Buddha in the Theravada or southern tradition.
