In this video we finish exploring the claims made by some Kubota sales people that the BX23S will perform the same as the John Deere 1025R TLB. We continue looking into the BX23's ability to push into a pile and pull out a full bucket of material at various RPM's. We look into the Kubota's performance when it comes to hauling material in a practical application of a subcompact tractor. In addition we help first time tractor buyers understand the importance of going to a dealer to demo and test a new tractor before they buy it.

I bought a used 2007 John Deere 2305 about 3 years ago. It had 400 hours on it. The loader and backhoe still had the paint on them but the mower deck had been used. It is a literal beast. I wouldn't trade it for any new sub compact or compact tractor. Around here people buy Kubota because they are close but as they say; "Nothing runs like a deer." Great comparison.

BX2380 owner here at 175h. As I commented before, I walked into a Deere dealership and was not approached in ten minutes. The Kubota dealer addressed me as I walked in. Just my experience. Looks like about $4k more for the Deere. The website is hard to figure out what you need, but the gimbal cup holder for $85 is a winner. Planting shrubs yesterday, I bumped up to 3k rpm for better loader function. I’d say watching this that it’s pretty accurate for K, but still punch the rpm a little more. The Deere seems to match up better with the Kubota compact line. It would be interesting to build two at the same price point and run a similar comparison. Given all that, the video seems to reflect what I get operating my Kubota. Have fun green guys.

@@EverythingGreenTractors yes, I have .8 acre and a 54” mmm. I drive through a fence gate to the back yard, but my neighbor with a K3901 can get through as well. I’ve made a few things for mine, the most complex was a 156# grapple which is a perfect match. It’s nice to switch from mower to tractor without leaving the seat. Full disclosure, I ordered a set of HydrosPlus cylinders to increase lift by 35%. Except for rocks and hard clay, mine handles most everything I need. Lift now is practically about 500#, upgrade should be around 750#. I do think Kubota detunes the BX for some reason.

At the 2:45 mark in the video I noticed when you push into the pill you curl the bucket back on the JD but on the Kubota you try to lift the loader and not curl back. I think the angle of the buckets going into the pile are different? I think most folks like a brand and at the end of the day are fortunate to have what they have....both great Sub-Compact tractors
@EverythingGreenTractors
@EverythingGreenTractors Месяц назад
Hi Joseph, thanks for responding! In actuality I use the same techniques for both. The Kubota touts being able to lift and curl at the same time, and it cannot do it. I tried several times. As explained in the other 2 videos on the comparison series I had to alternate lift and curl and in most cases back out of the pile to lift the load. If you own a Kubota try to drive into the pile and replicate what the Deere can do at idle. If you don't own a Kubota and are in the market for a new tractor go try both. The bigger issue is that Kubota sales people were telling people they perform the same, and they do not. I appreciate your comments, thanks for sharing!

I was told a lot of untrue things about the K. Specifically that it will perform and match the R in lifting RPMs and that its maneuverability beats the R. The salesmen was also pretty sleazy and I picked up on that right away. He seemed bored to sell me a tractor. Im located inOntario Canada.

A very fair and detailed comparison. I went with Deere, not knowing this info, primarily because the nearest Deere dealer was 40 miles away while Kubota was 100 miles. Glad I made the right choice, even if it was for the wrong reason. Very happy with my 2025R.

I don’t have a dog in this fight however it looks like to me when you’re going into the pile with the Deere you go a short distance then curl your bucket some when you are not with the Kubota. You keep the Kubota flat the whole time. Not that it matters but it doesn’t look like a fair comparison. Even still it appears the Deere will raise the loader full where the Kubota will not. It seems to me the Deere is a better Tractor but just my opinion.

@@markmccoy1304 Thanks for responding and watching! The reason I am not curling with the Kubota is because it won’t curl unless you back out. I am trying to do it the whole time. Slagging another competitor’s product with unsupported claims is greasy. That’s why comparisons like this are great. I have to say that last year when I went looking for a sub-compact, I got quotes on the 1025R and a BX2680 and no such competitor bashing took place at either dealership. I was impressed with both salespeople and I was honestly prepared to buy a JD or a Kubota…I’d had some experience with both brands in the compact size range and liked them both. I tried them out, read and watched a gazillion reviews and educated myself on the specs. Ultimately, notwithstanding a marginally higher total price for the package I was looking for, I opted for the JD 1025R…it just felt beefier. Pretty sure I made a good choice…time will tell.

you guys sound like me comparing Sony cameras to any other brand fanboys but the truth remains you're not buying the machine you're buying the dealership and a brand. I don't have a John Deere which would 45 miles and john Deere would not offer financing for my 15 year old business with tax returns showing income and profit in the 6 figure. I have a Kabota dealership less than 4 miles away that offer financing to my well establish business so equally doesn't matter so long as they are close especially if I'm buying the dealership, and spending 35k there's only one choice and the warranty I got from kubota covers my accidents or is supposed to? I'm still waiting on the unit as I did a lot of upgrades but I will be making a blog to see if all the promises or more to insure all promises and representations made actually come to fruition and the machine will do what I was told it would do.

Thanks for commenting! I agree the dealership relationship is extremely important. Being able to get parts and service when things break down makes a huge difference in downtime issues. Purchasing a tractor that can get the job done in nearly half the time is also important as it will reduce your labor, wear and tear and hours on the machine. The financing experience you have described has not been the experience of the businesses I work with on a regular basis. I have found John Deere financial to be an excellent partner in helping our businesses meet their needs. We offer a full line of financing products including leasing to help out partners keep their overall maintenance expenses down. John Deere Financial also offers the same type of insurance as Kubota at a fraction of the cost. Thanks so much for watching. I hope all works out for you with the Kubota. By the way I am not a fanboy😀!

You shouldn't push, tilt the bucket to "eat" your way through the pile. The hydraulics on both aren't good at all. Massey Ferguson and Yanmar are better tractors, if you have a dealership nearby.

@@VineV-Dutch It does not appear the Deere is struggling through any of the videos with hydraulics in any of the 14 videos we have made so far. @VineV-Dutch

Yanmar or Massey Ferguson are the best. Best flow of hydraulica using lift and tilt at the same time. Yanmar has better warranty. Massey Ferguson has best reliability. And the engine of Yanmar is used in the JD and other brands. The Kubota starts to annoy people real fast when they use hydraulics a lot. What you want is a smooth transition tilting and lifting/lowering the bucket. The Kubota only does 1 of the two. It's difficult to find the sweet spot on the handle. Irritation will be born. JD is easy to expensive and not interchangeable with implements.

You need to fine tune any tractor you get…. They do intentionally so you spend more money…. Look into the hydraulics… most of your tractors have to much going to the steering get a controllable hydraulics valve… ok just watch tractor time with Tim …… you’ll find out everything you need or very close to it…..
@EverythingGreenTractors
@EverythingGreenTractors Месяц назад
Hi Ed, thanks for responding sorry it took me a while to get back to you, My tractor is stock, I don't recommend "fine tuning" your tractor as that could lead to voiding a warranty. I watch Tractor Time with Tim and I love his channel, I am a subscriber, but Tim is selling product and sometimes his fine tuning leads to a broken tractor part. I really recommend sitting down with a sales person and listing the jobs you will do so that you have the correct tractor with the proper capabilites without fine tuning. Thank you so much!

Thank you for the advice … but companies make the tractors to be adjustable they make everything to the basics so that you spend more to up grade… subject change to prove my point… snowmobiles… when they built the fire cat …. The first ones didn’t come with electric start or reverse.. why … it’s so you up grade to the next yr when they add the electric start and reverse… but the first sleds could have it all added… up grades… you can also make your tractors have more horsepower just by turning up the fuel mixture screw… you 25 hp now becomes a 30 hp without the emissions bs with diesel… there is lots of ways to upgrade things without breaking them… the upgraded parts are made for a reason …
@EverythingGreenTractors
@EverythingGreenTractors Месяц назад
@@EdZirul Thanks Ed. My point is my tractor performs as is without any adjustments. If you purchase a tractor that you have to adjust to get it to perform to the level of a stock competitor tractor it only makes sense then you can adjust the competitor tractor and it will still outperform the tractor you purchased. Having dealt with customers who are trading in competitive tractors I have heard stories of denied warranties over much more trivial matters. My suggestion is purchase the tractor that gets the job you want done with the stock specs in place. After the warranty is up do whatever you want to it. Thanks for watching!
@EdZirul
@EdZirul Месяц назад
@@EverythingGreenTractors that’s not the point I’m making … the point I’m making is that all tractors can do better than what the factory specs… are and they do that so you spend money to up grade…. It’s not about what tractor is better … cause some of cheaper tractors out preform John Deere stock… the point is you can make your tractor do what it should and have the power it should… not the dumbed down version that comes from the factory….
@EdZirul
@EdZirul Месяц назад
@@EverythingGreenTractors and by the way … your tractor probably has 3 pounds of hydraulic pressure going to the steering … not needed…. That is robbing the rest of the hydraulic system…. Basically your lifting can be better.. running the 3 point could be better…. No one is trying to destroy their tractors… but they are trying to get the best performance out of them that the factories rob you of…. Just to steal more money from you on upgrades…
