[Kubota Diesel] No Start & Miss Fix: Fuel Lift Pump Tractors Excavators & Lawn Mowers

In this video I will show how to replace and test a Kubota diesel fuel lift pump. These pumps come on a lot of different Kubota models like lawn mowers, excavators, and tractors. 3- and 4-cylinder engines. There an inline type of fuel pump and work off 12 volts. The fuel pump pulls diesel fuel from the fuel tank and then pumps it to the injection pump. When they fail or quit working, there will be a loss of fuel pressure, and this will cause fuel problems. The machine won't start, cuts out, misses, and also shuts off. The equipment I'm replacing the fuel pump on in this video will be a KX71 excavator and showing a replacement pump and how it works on a ZD21 zero turn mower.

Works on starters and fuel pumps that are in the tank sometimes.

That's a 2 wire connector. My Kubota ZG222 mower has a 3 wire connector. What's the 3rd wire for?

Could be to a sensor (depending on the year you have and if it has one) or could be a neutral wire but there's a number of things it could be. Refer to a manual for your machine for exact details

Hello I checked my pump and it makes a noise could it still have quit? I noticed no fuel in the line when I took the hose off? The solenoid clicks is it possible it’s the solenoid. Thanks for sharing vid

There are some moving and mechanical parts inside that could have broke or failed. Turn the pump on and see if fuel pumps out on the outlet side if it doesn't something has failed inside the pump, or the inlet line from the tank is blocked, fuel filter is stopped up, or line plugged. Make sure fuel can get to the pump before replacing it.

@@hp_outdoors thank you. I’ve put the pump back on and changed the filter, pump made a pumping noise then slowed to a stop altogether but not that loud but it started and now Revs. I’ve ordered a pump as it’s not making any noise at all but still starts on the button. Tried again this morning and started straight away. I’m guessing the pump doesn’t do that much and when lines are full of diesel doesn’t need it?

@@bluedragon13063 Keep in mind that there is a kill switch circuit that makes several stops and cuts power, probably to to the pump. I Haven't traced it all the way yet but it's a good assumption. The bad switch on my BX is the front one under the seat. If I hold it down with my finger, the problem goes away.

my hanix H08 mini excavator quit on me today the fuel pump wire wore thru grounded out and pump burned up red wire melted right off the pump lol

@@hp_outdoors ya got a new pump and it fired right up . now my old 773 BC blew a control valve seal :(

I put the tilt and lift control valve seals in our 763 think around 10 years ago. Those control valve seals will leak faster than you can put fluid in it once they go. That bobcat is the best and most handy piece of equipment I've ever had.
