To be clear, I like my orange tractor. I cannot believe the price difference between the two kits is so insignificant. I think an installer might be justified to charge a bit more to install the factory kit, but I would say that the factory kit is worth a whole lot more than the one from Land Pride. My Land Pride kit should work just fine, but if I had known the factory kits were coming out and how much nicer they would be, I would have waited to buy one.
@greg86z28

I had this same experience with my B2601. The Kubota kit is engineered to fit my tractor. The Land Pride kit is clearly a kit from a parts bin that isn't a perfect fit for the tractor (but of course still will work fine). The fit and finish of the Kubota kit is FAR superior to the Land Pride on the B2601. The dealers push the Land Pride kits. My opinion is the Land Pride kit makes more money for Kubota/the dealers. For installing the 3rd function kit, I used the Kubota Loader Assembly manual which is very detailed and easy to follow. In addition - if you have a backhoe, the Kubota kit comes plug and play with that where as the Land Pride kit does not.
@curtwhite876

@@greg86z28 yeah, that pretty much sums it up. I think you're right, the cost of the Land Pride kit HAS TO BE lower than the Kubota kit.

I put a 3rd function valve on my L4740, I do not believe it was from land pride but it still had the same troubles that you did, and when I got my LX2610 I had them installed at the factory. I am not sure why anyone would want a tractor that did not have a third function valve on it, I believe it should be standard equipment.

As always, this video is well thought out and professionally presented. It always seems that the most difficult part of any installation like this is just getting the cowlings moved or removed enough to route the wires and hoses. You have done this enough times that it seems almost second nature for you. I have really enjoyed all of the hydraulic vides you have posted. The variety of the subjects you cover makes your channel second to none.

When I was a truck mechanic, we had a U shape tool, with a 30 degree bend in the legs that we used to align semi truck tires to the studs. Work great. You just got the tire next to the studs, put the legs of the U on each side of the tire, the width was just enough to allow they to put them under the tread to the left and right of where the tire sat on the ground. Then you lifted up on the handle and the leverage allowed you to easily align the studs and slide the tire on.

On my BX23S I went with the Kubota OEM kits because of the hard lines in the loader arm and the clean look if it all and less lines to get snagged on something..The down side to the Kubota kit on the BX is that when You take off the loader the 3rd function goes with the loader..the plus side is that You only unplug 2 electrical connectors , no hydraulic lines because everything is on the loader...

On Kurt's bracket that mounts to the loader mast, there's a secondary bolt hole on the lower left. The right mounting hole is slotted as well. It almost looks like you could have used the lower mounting hole and still used the slotted hole which would have pitched the connection block forward facing at about a 45* angle. This would also help keep his hoses from hanging down quite so much.
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 3 года назад
We discussed that just last night! He tried it…no luck! The valve hit the mast.
@curtwhite876
@curtwhite876 3 года назад
Yeah, Tim suggested the same thing. In the vertical orientation the valve is right next to the mast, maybe about an eighth inch (2mm-3mm) clearance. Then when the valve and bracket are rotated forward as you described, about a third of the valve control interferes with the mast. That extra hole in the bracket, as well as the slotted hole must be to make the bracket applicable to additional tractor brands and models to further reduce Land Pride's cost.

I believe the Land Pride third function power wire is intended to connect to the keyed power behind the dashboard. That’s why the wire isn’t long enough to reach the battery. With a direct battery connection, that switch will be active at all times - not only when the tractor ignition is on. Probably not an issue, but I don’t think that’s what was intended (although the instructions should have made that clear!)

@@TractorTimewithTim Actually there were some instructions, but they were not very helpful and all references were to Third Function Valve Kit Figure 4, which is a surprisingly busy illustration which is not to scale and contains ZERO components or landmarks on the tractor.. here is the wire termination section: 5. I really enjoy Tim's videos. This one I think unfairly pushes people away from the Landpride kit for the LX. I could have choses either one and chose Landpride. Landpride makes different kits for the B2650 and LX. On the LX, the valve is nearly invisible, as it is behind the loader mount. It does not use hard lines, but it also doesn't need the unsightly loop where the hardlines bend under the boom and transition to flex. I don't remove my loader, but I could see how the more prominent point of disconnect on the OEM LX valve, or the B2650 Landpride valve, might be slightly quicker to access. If you frequently remove the loader, and/or have Swift-Tach, I might chose OEM. Otherwise I actually prefer Landpride on the LX.

Then on top of it I have this dumb land pride grapple that drops nearly everything and I just got sold a bunch of garbage. I have the 3rd function though now, the handle buttons are great and at some point I can go back and get an Artillian. The Artillian grapple is what I wanted to begin with but they weren't sure the 3rd function kit they had would work on a L3901. Also funny story on that, may give you a chuckle. I told my sales man I bought the tractor from I just wanted to buy the 3rd function kit, cause the grapple I wanted looked like it had skulls on the front of it. Christy said that in a video a long long time ago... So the sales man says, "Well, Drew if you want a metal skull, I can go down to the Harley shop and pick one up and put that on the land pride grapple for you". 💀 Anyhow, some day I will make this right with he grapples but I am keeping that land pride 3rd function. 😂

You guys are very smart. Tim I would like to know how you really like your Kubota. If you had to stay on a Tractor all day would you rather be on your Deere? I wish you could do a review on my LS MT 240e. It is about the same size as the 3310 and 2038 however the specs on my loader say lifting capacity is 2150. That’s a considerable difference than the 3310 and 2038 and I feel I paid a few thousand less. Very pleased with my Tractor and might add I respect it and don’t abuse it. Great video guys!
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 3 года назад
Yes, your machine likely has a bit more lift capacity. However, they list the measurement ‘at the pin’ which is not practical. Anything in the bucket would be many inches forward of the pin…reducing the lift capacity. It is still likely more than the Deere or Kubota…but not as much more as the specs indicate.

Very interesting vid - I'll be ordering a B01 and on the HST models, there are Kubota engineered/supplied 3rd function & rear SCV options but on the Gear Drive model (which I'd seriously consider), there are no such options available exc. through Land Pride. For this reason alone, I'm more inclined to buy the HST (maybe that's Kubota's intent there).

I understand Land Pride is owned by Kubota. You would think the kit would be more suited to the Kubota tractors. Orange zip ties are on Amazon if your serious. I think orange is your color Tim. I have three orange tractors and stock in John Deere (well one of my investment guys bought it) Ag Pro owns ALL the JD dealerships along I-75 from below Atlanta to the Great Lakes. All I've gotten is high prices and bad service without anywhere to go. Kubota isn't like that in this area of east Tennessee. I'm slowly going to all orange. We should be able to get prison clothes to match! lol Being my luck I'd be bush hogging when the SWAT Team shows up.

We did our best to follow what few instructions we had, but they were not very helpful and all references were to Third Function Valve Kit Figure 4, which is a surprisingly busy illustration, not to scale and it contains ZERO components or landmarks on the tractor.. here is the wire termination section: 5. Reference Connections "A": Connect one black wire in harness (#14) to one black wire in harness (#23) and the other black wire in harness (#14) to one white wire in harness (#23). 6. Reference Connection "B": Connect the two red wires in harness (#14) leading from joystick (#13) to one end of wire (#16) with fuse holder (#15), 7. Connect opposite end of wire (#16) to the positive (+) post on the tractor battery. So while I contend we DID install it per the instruction we had, I will likely go back and simplify the wiring and move it off the battery, as you've suggested.

I'm curious, I have heard that the Kubota 3rd function is more of a diverter and the Land Pride 3rd function is a true 3rd function... Also from what I understand when you remove your FEL the Kubota 3rd function goes with it... Have there been updates to the Kubota 3rd function? Like you, I have other land pride attachments, box blade, 60" tiller, and I am very please with the brand. I will not hesitate to buy land pride in the future, but with such a similar price point and seeing the two kits side by side, I would choose the Kubota kit if I had it to do over again. The odd thing about Kubota vs LandPride is that LandPride is owned by Great Plains which is owned by.....Kubota! Sometimes you get Kubota parts which are identical to the LandPride. Sometimes they are so different as to be incompatible. Why do they use metric on some fasteners and SAE on others? Hydraulic connections which cannot mate? Kubota seems to be very ambivalent about their relationship to LandPride. This confuses customers immensely. This is both a marketing issue and an issue of technical compatibility. They better fix it or I will go Green!
