I met Burr Tillstrom in the middle 70s when I was a resident at an artist's colony in Michigan called Saugatuck. I heard my name called out that I had a phone call at the main house. When I went inside it was Kukla and Ollie talking to me from behind a couch where Mr Tilstrom had hidden himself. It's one of my most fond memories from my childhood.
Great story - please subscribe! And join us every Su, Mo, and Th at 7pm ET to chat while we watch the premiere of an episode not seen in over 70 years!
Lovely touch with the radio (RCA Victor, I presume) suddenly gaining sentience for the Shredded Wheat commercial. Last time I saw that happen was a MST3K episode when a talking Hercules action figure suddenly gave a Jolly Ranchers ad, which led Joel to collapse with incredulity. Seems to me that Hugh got caught up with election fever so much, he barely kept a straight face while reading the sponsor's message.
