Your giving hope out for free. Thats really special for us young folks trying to understand what’s happening around us. There isnt much support and the vast majority of people my age are just bad and not worth a damn that makes it hard to find someone willing to help Those who want to improve. I know im not the only one struggling to be healthy in this grey unnatural environment. Im born and raised in California and i couldnt want to leave more. My instincts scream escape everyday and this really really helps give a foundation to build on. Hearing a real outside perspective is also helpful to understand that what im feeling is not weird and in fact ive been onto something for a while. Thank you very much sir.

We call them "Burls" here. The grain within them is wonderful. We call the piece you chose a "Fork" from the first stem. The burl from the birch can be made into many things once dried. Another comfy visit with you this day my friend. Thank you !

Hi Bjorn. I've been watching your videos for a month or so. Really enjoy them. You live in a beautiful country, even with the helicopters and occasional chainsaws. It takes me back to a more youthful time. Living in the heart of Los Angeles, my wife and I don't get much trail time anymore, but we surely enjoy watching you enjoy those things. We're both half Norwegian, which is better than none I'm sure. Stay well.

Hi Bjorn, thank you so much for the kind words👊! I'm glad you have some colder weather, hopefully some snow will soon follow! That birch tree was enormous, it's sad it fell but now you can make something beautiful with it! Take care my friend, Im looking forward to the journey. 🍻 Wade

Great video Bjorn you are absolutely rite about respecting and protecting the wilderness . close to me was a great forest but unfortunately it was 70% cut down for another 800 houses there was a 6 year debate which failed to protect or respect the forest which is now so very small this deeply affected me and many of us who live near the area Thank you for another great video

Nice video as always. Its 18F outside where I live with snow on the ground. On the plus side a knife that I ordered from Kult of Athena was delivered today. A very nice Scottish Sgain Dubh, from a company called Devils Edge. It came with a actual belt sheath, so I will be making a blade cover for it, so I can wear it in my sock, like its supposed to be carried. Have a good one.

Thank you for taking us on your journey. I love the respect you show for the old birch tree, and for the forest. I think the squirrel was keeping his eye on you. The Silky Gomboy would have made you a king among men in the Viking age, especially with your skill with throwing it on to the branch. Hopefully your headache is better soon, perhaps when the weather has decided to finally change to winter and the snow falls.

Bjorn, it is just my opinion, but there are a couple ways you can look at it. No matter how you look at it, that birch is dying. One way to look at it is that as it rots it will feed the echo system and provide for the next generation. (hopefully there where some birch saplings), but I prefer the philosophy that when we take from nature to create something, we honor that source of material be it a tree, or the earth itself we honor that source with the art we create, therefore we owe it to the source of our materials to do our best to produce our finest craftsmanship, even if it is a practice piece so we can learn a skill. This does however mean, there is no need to feel guilt over removing wood from a dead tree (or in this case one that is beyond salvation.) only to remember that we owe the source of our materials our thanks for what it has provided for us.

I just love how you stressing the importance of respecting mother nature, Bjorn. In German we have a saying you maybe have heard already: "Sich wie die Axt im Walde benehmen" (i.e. behaving like the axe in the forest). Unfortunately here I do see some folks behave like this once in a while - yet we are nothing without nature itself. We are part of it, and only visitors outdoors. Thanks for yet another great video, enjoyed watching it! Ralf

Hello Bjorn. Thank you for another wonderful, peaceful video. I still cannot come to terms with how clear your filming is. I understand your feelings for the tree but, remember, making something from the tree means it will never actually die. It will live in whatever you create. Better to be blown down by the wind, some of it used and loved, the rest to rot naturally and maintain the earth, than to be bulldozed and burned as so much waste. Take care.

Well said about bushcraft, outdoors and Viking life! Kuksa are beautiful! That was a big birch tree!! Beautiful wood inside that cut. Projects sound great! (Helicopter pilot laughs as he flies over you) is a shame they blew up the side of mountain to build houses, instead of building WITH the lay of the land. The wind blowing thru the tree tops looked like forest spirits talking. Your videos are wonderful, viking and bushcraft! Thank you! Nice shoutout, I will have to go visit his channel.

I live 7400 feet higher than you fo. Thousands of miles away. In the.desert. I love your channel and can relate to it. That is all to your credit, Bjorn. As for damaging live trees, I have experience with that. About five years ago we had to cut down an entire forest of Aspen trees, solely because people had carved their initials and graffitti in the bark over the last 100 years. Search Canjilon Lakes, New Mexico to see what can happen. The place is still beautiful, but tens of thousands of trees had to be removed. Forests here in the Desert Southwest are rare and beautiful. Such a shame to lose one through carelessness. Thoughtless carelessness.

Hopefully Bjorn, the fungi will get to work on the fallen and dead tress and convert them back to soil. Thus allowing new trees to grow back in their places and maybe, one day if our species uses its brains, we will stop cutting down trees purely for profit. The plants afterall are the lungs of the world. They eat up way more CO2 than any of man's efforts to reduce the stuff will ever do! In fact, high CO2 concentrations will help plants of all types grow that much bigger and faster! Very low concentrations ill actually hinder their growth.

I know how you feel . People moving into the woods is not good, it leaves a huge footprint. I have the same problem here (north-eastern USA)...I go hiking and suddenly there is a "no trespass" sign. It changes the ecology. Money can buy you anything, even expensive helicopter-delivered building materials. And humans multiply like rabbits, soon we will not have a piece of untouched land on this planet. Everyone hates government control, but if the world's leaders do not step in and regulate populating wild places we will lose our ancestral memories. This has to be a global agreement, not piece-meal - and some countries will not abide by any global ruling anyway. I hurt for the trees and flowers and animals and all the kami that have been around for a long time.
