That is literally the point of religious chants. It makes you feel good to sing them. All music should be like this. Music should make you feel peace and love, it should be beautiful. I am certain this is why people are so hateful these days, too much arrogance, bitterness, jealousy and spite in their music, not enough love.

Hey Matt, good question! I'll be more than happy to answer you. You might be aware of the Holy Epic of Hindus, the "Mahabharatha". (The other equally important Epic being the "Ramayana") The picture is taken from Mahabharatha's famous war chapter. Lord Mahavishnu took the Avatar of Krishna during the timeline of this epic which happened during "Dwapara Yuga" (Yuga means Era, Dwapara means Two-Ahead). The war was between two related family clans, the "Pandavas" and the "Kauravas". Krishna was supporting the side of the former and he was requested by Kauravas that he must not fight in the war; which would have made their defeat imminent. He agreed to that request. But, he was present in the war field as the chariot driver for the best warrior in the Pandavas' side; whose name is Arjuna. The old man in the pic is "Bheeshma", the Godfather of Kauravas; a righteous and a famous warrior. He challenged Krishna in a friendly and a devoted way stating "Lord Krishna, I will make you take the weapon against me before I die in the war field, because I wanna be killed by your hands; albeit I don't want you to fight against anyone else." This picture depicts that exact moment in the war where Krisha gets angry by the tactics of Bheeshma and lifts his weapon 'Chakra'; whereas Arjuna requests him not to break his promise of not fighting in the war. (The universal wheel in his hand). After this, Krishna becomes cool and shows his "Vishwaroopa" (Full Form) to Bheeshma as a sign of blessing. Bheeshma is ultimately killed by Arjuna; who is a grandson to him by relation; with the help of Lord Sri Krishna. Interesting, isn't it?
