Yes mate 💯 . It's unique enough that it formed a deep timestamp in me that triggered when I heard this. Launched me back to being 12 years old, stealing FHM and Loaded magazines from under my big brother's bed and trying really hard to convince myself i didn't fancy the spice girls
I feel blessed that I was a teenager in the 90s, when Britain produced 100 amazing bands every year. Incredible era. Today's music is crap, I'm sorry for the youngins.
I turned 40 y at september and still i laisten this era music. It's the best. Modern day music is shit. Especially rap. Can't stand rap shit. Oasis🎉❤. This song is amazing.. Kula shaker🎉!
acintya-bhedābheda-tattva... simultaneous oneness and difference between the individual soul and the Supersoul... brilliant song revealing the essence of Vedic scriptures
I was at Tower Records when this song came on. I had oasis and Ocean Colour Scene in my hands...heading for the checkout. I left with Oasis, Ocean Colour and Kula Shaker. Still great after all these years.
davethemurse I know what you mean. There have been times when I heard a song, lost touch with it and wanted to know who did it & when. Now its so much easier to find out the answer. When I was growing up, it was boardering on the impossible to get that answer. I know how you feel when you get that answer. :) Power to ya! :))
Davethemurse me too! I used to play this song all the time on my college radio station in the late 90s but years later had trouble finding it since the lyrics are so unusual. I'm so glad I finally did though, what a great song!
There's a big reason why not too many people like listening to Kula Shaker any more. I mean just exactly are lyrics such as "if you know your history you will read between the lines" and "jerry was there" supposed to mean? And they didn't exactly pick the smartest of places to gig (or album cover symbolism) if they weren't that way inclined. Don't get me wrong. I recognise cool music when I hear it. I'm just not sure whether I'm enjoying something which didn't come from a good place or not. Some great stuff on that album. ...and then you get to the "hidden" track at the end of the last track. Again, just what the hell is that supposed to sound like? Weird. They had plenty recognition. They were the next big thing. Seemed to have nothing left in the tank though. Did a good cover of "Hush" and then failed to write anything else which connected with people. Such a shame. I want to be able to say they were great but if the stories are true then they deserved their slide from fame.
@@MASAo7 Same could be said about Oasis. As a matter of fact Noel has admitted a lot of his lyrics are rubbish. They themselves eventually fell off as well for a lot of the same reasons you listed. But what "stories" could you be referring to? Couldn't be worse tha the Gallagher bros?
@@jeremysears4263 omg I just love Noel's commentary on their DVD. He asks if they can listen to one of the songs with the sound off lol The Kula Shaker thing is rumours so I wouldn't want to make any direct allegations but they say there's no smoke without fire...
All these tunes take me right back to such a happy time in my life, it' sooooo brilliant hearing them all again. Wish it was still the 90's now or when ever it was. Best damn years of my life!!!
Remember very well when it was released. It blew my mind. Summer of love 2.0. Peace love and understanding. I bought a sitar and played rock for years. When will we see a revival?
Tattva, acintya bheda bheda tattva Like the flower and the scent of summer, Like the sun and the shine, Well the truth may come in strange disguises Send the message to your mind. Tattva, acintya bheda bheda tattva At the moment that you wake from sleeping And you know it´s all a dream, Well the truth may come in strange disguises Never knowing what it means. Tattva, acintya bheda bheda tattva For you shall be tomorrow, Like you have been today, If this was never ending, What more can you say?
@@patcherelli2411funny. I worked for Sony who own Columbia and Epic. So they were signed when I was there as well as so many others on both labels. I have done quite a lot and still do. And I certainly don’t want to sound egotistical. I will say it was such a fun time!!!
@@judysblueeyes HEY! Be egotistical all you like. I would be if I'd met Kula Shaker..I'd probably have it tattooed on my left arse cheek.......Radiohead's Tom is on the right one.
Rhonnda Neumann Most of these songs have been in the '60s(psychodellic), but this is a great example of it in the '90s. Another example is from a group called Beautiful People in their samples of Jimi Hendrix's music. I usually don't like sampling, but in this case I will make a major exception. Mostly because they sample their music, but don't try to cover it and make it seem as if its their own. They document what they covered, for what song, etc. For that I give them cudos (sic).
Miss this era of indie music, reminds my beautiful 90's childhood. If anyone can suggest any modern bands with this sound please share your knowledge. Thanks
my first really big love did this song on a tape for me. I played it every day on and on. When she left me a year after I played it on and on and on and on and cried :-) Now I think back this time with a smile on my face...
I'm just glad that both of you (MrNishster included) have positive memories regarding this song. I love it and the story behind the lyrics. here's an explanation of the lyrics from wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tattva_(song) Enjoy! :)
I've never understood people dissing Kular Shaker... All they ever did was write catchy pop/rock tunes - 'K' is one of my favourite albums of all time! Heavens help anyone who has rich and/or talented parents who nurture their children. p.s. One's tastes don't "mature" with time - they merely "develop"!
great memories... i remember i was so high when i first hear this record ("K" if i remember correctly) back in '96 or '97 that i instantly remembered most of the lyrics! Great band, good times!! Cheerz from Argentina!
I could never really get into the Indie bands, to me it was 'soft' rock, just not my cup of tea. I loved the Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, Korn, Pantera. What were you into?
@Mikk Lüftumie I don't believe I was being sarcastic I was just agreeing with the commentator. Either way, I'm a huge fan of The Kula Shaker, I'm certainly not out to diminish their originality. I suppose we hear different influences from our perspectives.
This song just came back at me while I was listening to another 90’s classic. No link to follow on the platform, just my own associations doing the work of the algorithm. Such a rad song
Cancel culture. Crispian Mills said he thought the swastika was a beautiful symbol. It’s all over asia and doesn’t mean what it did in Europe, yet, the left don’t care, they just want to ruin people for things they say. Vindictive bullies, essentially. They cancelled a band espousing peace and unity because of a misrepresented quote. Madness.
I remember watching an episode MTV UK's Sweet 16 and the birthday girl had an Indian theme. There's a secret live act and the mum announces "ladies and gentleman. I give you... Kula Shaker" the kids who were probably 4 in '96 but were loving it
The four words (अचिन्त्य भेद अभेद तत्त्व) are of Sanskrit origin but to form a Sanskrit sentence they ought to be inflected grammatically, which they aren't. It is possible, however, for it to be Hindi (by omission of verb and accusative pronoun common in that language and context) and thus the title in English would be "The Unity of Reality is an Inconceivable Mystery"
verkaforever "Lord Caitanya instructed the mass of people in the sankhya philosophy of acintya-bhedabheda-tattva, which maintains that the Supreme Lord is simultaneously one with and different from His creation. Lord Caitanya taught this philosophy through the chanting of the holy name of the Lord. He taught that the holy name of the Lord is the sound incarnation of the Lord and that since the Lord is the absolute whole, there is no difference between His holy name and His transcendental form. Thus by chanting the holy name of the Lord one can directly associate with the Supreme Lord by sound vibration. As one practices this sound vibration, one passes through three stages of development: the offensive stage, the clearing stage and the transcendental stage. In the offensive stage one may desire all kinds of material happiness, but in the second stage one becomes clear of all material contamination. When one is situated on the transcendental stage, one attains the most coveted position--the stage of loving God. Lord Caitanya taught that this is the highest stage of perfection for human beings." Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi lila, Preface
...i felt in love with that beautiful belly dancer... great song, great sound!...how many memories...i was a kid when this song came out...Prodigy smashed charts with "Breathe", Chemical Brothers became famous in Italy with "Dig your own hole"...and "MTV Italia" didn't exist yet...good old times...=)
SimonB198207 If 60's Was 90's, which is an album done by a group called Beautiful People was a compilation of songs that are samples of Jimi Hendrix music. Also, this is the only time that I will say that "sampling" is OK because they, basically, made new Jimi Hendrix music from the old (and did it well, I might add). Bringing it back home... Kula Shaker brought back this music on their album "K". Between Kula Shaker and Beautiful People, this revives music of Rock and Roll in its best and purest form.
