Iliga is like para military who defended settlements where there where Christian majority when mindanao was still a frontier... He became a commander because of the threat that they were facing at that time.. Those times were really hard for all Christians and muslims alike.. For all people living in Mindanao

I'm not really familiar with Mr. Manero's story, maybe because I live in Northern Luzon. And I really haven't seen anything on the news about him in those years. But I have heard of his name from time to time, and only thing I remember is that people then thought that he was some NPA or rebel leader or something, or that he was someone who is supposed to have done a heinous crime. But I never followed up his story. Then I forgot all about it. Getting his full story now, direct interview and not the police version of his story, is much better, enlightening and a good story in the end. But it's still sad to find out how very unjust this good man was treated. You could maybe somewhat be unjust to a really terrible criminal, BUT NEVER, not even a little, to a good and innocent/maybe innocent man, because you, yourself, would or could be doing a crime towards an innocent man which can definitely change their life, forever, including his family, and all other people close to him.

about the killing of the priest. manero jr said that what the media pictured him as a cannibal and a barbaric vigilante was not true. it was not his intention ko kill the priest since they are also friends. it just happen that during the raid operation with the rebel the priest arrived to that operation scene and aided help the rebel to heal his wounds because the group of manero already cornered the rebel in that place and just waiting for the rebel to surrender or die from loss of blood from the shooting encounter with maneros group.. it only happen when the priest was got angered because someone set fired his motorcycle that is blocking the road wich manero jr wanted to pass the blocking road because he wanted to go away of that place.. he said that the priest got angered with him because the priest thought that manero is the one who burned his motorcyle and they got into a heated argument and got physical wich manero jr's brother intervened and at that moment is carrying a loaded gun. while his brother tried to defused them because they are already fighting and brawling his brother accidentally fired the gun to the priest face while defusing them.. so what he is trying to explain that it was accidental and not intentional.. all he wanted to say is that he was only doing his job to protect the christian community and the civilians in mindanao during that time because the christian was threatened by the rebels in mindanao.. i think manero regreted of what happen to the priest because he did not wanted that to happen to the priest... its just that the priest was there during there pursuit operation of the rebel in that area at that time.. manero just wanted as people to know that he was only doing his duty to protect tha civilians from the rebel people in mindanao.
