Hi Kwame, is your comment an appreciation or condemnation? Whatever way you meant it, I believe that crucifying it is in bad taste. We need to show maturity in giving quality criticism. The rendition of the Kundum in the video is very impressive. Good job people. Where did this take place?
@Kwame, you need to know that when a dance moves from its native land into academia, it takes a different form. The dance needs to be choreographed to fit into curriculum. if you don't know or understand anything, you must ask first, before you start displaying your ignorance publicly. More so, the word tribe is no longer used in academia. thank you!!
His comments may be a little uncouth but he does have a point. With respect, this hardly resembles the age old Kundum dancing, the rhythms and costume are not quite there either. I also disagree about academia, which more or less means nothing in this instance. This has nothing to do with academia. Of course there is no harm in interpretation or embellishment but it must be made clear that is what this is. Nor do i blame those dancing because they are doing this out of appreciation. However maybe they are being misled. But the reason i am commenting today, is because i have just witnessed a video of Ghanaian schoolchildren proclaiming to be doing the traditional Kundum dance. But their style is almost identical to what we see in this video which is of real concern. I imagine they copied their version from such imitations There is hardly any resemblance to the real Kundum dances
