I was about to say, none of this is real fights between monk and MMA fighter. A monk would literally kill just about any MMA fighter that I have seen fight on television.. I see a lot of the comments bashing kung fu, they have clearly never come across a monk. Or a Brazilian mixed martial artist..

In a life or death situation on the streets, why would I ever want to tackle an attacker to the ground? I want to defend myself, incapacitate my attacker, and be standing so that I can run away. If there are multiple attackers coming at me for my life, grappling would be utterly useless. Actually Bruce Lee practiced Wing Chun first, Ip Man was his master. He later developed Jeet Kune Do, the precursor to modern MMA. The movies will tell you that much, Dragon: A Bruce Lee Story, the more recent Birth of A Dragon. Even in Ip Man 3 you briefly see a young Bruce Lee come to Ip Man for training at some point in the movie. And of course the infamous Google.

So he would go to the second or third man down the line and trade nervous about lessons in Cha-Cha dancing for martial arts lessons. But his fame, and everything he blew up because of was Jeet Kune Do. And he couldn't be identified by one style at that point due to his extensive study into other forms of fighting. He took from Wing Chung, Gung Fu (or Chinese boxing,) as well as western boxing and even fencing. The list goes on.

I suspect "in it's purest form" means that some of the strikes used in Kung Fu are illegal in MMA. Blows to the back of the head, groin strikes, throat strikes, and eye gouging. He's not technically lying, but he's making it sound much more awesome than it is.

The Chinese government burned down the Shaolin Temple and made martial arts illegal a long time ago. That was the end of real shaolin kung fu. They reopened with a compromise that they practiced acrobatics with some kung fu stances and moves instead of real martial arts. Modern day shaolin kung fu just performance art and has nothing to do with actual combat. That is why shaolin monks keep getting destroyed in the ring.

You need to remember these people are training every waking moment TO KILL. They are the true definition of warriors. that's because the MMA fighter trains under full contact while the purest martial artist trains in striking the air . there's a big difference when the air punches back mike tyson once said ,everybody has a plan until they get punched or something to that effect .

No it’s not really a well trained mma fighter can pretty much beat any Kung fu fighter because Kung-Fu isn’t really designed to work in a mma fight I would say someone who trained mma for 1 year can beat 95 % of Kung fu masters in a real fight

Well, you know what came before those debunk Kungfu vids was the vids of the Shaolin kungfu practioner who fought MMA fights and actually won most of his bouts, fighting against many skilled mix-martial artists. All of sudden, someone comes out with a vid of debunking myths of kungfu by challenging these masters, whom are actually just sifus of their respective schools, not real masters as in they are the best at what they do and people like you just go with that instead. The real masters don't go out there seeking glamour in their names or styles, such as the monks of Shaolin who practice it for many years of their lives as really, just a form of vigorous excercise program. And even then, their titles are given to them as Masters of their all around knowledge of their beliefs and not even because of their expertise in martial arts.

There has been a Chinese mma fighter going around and fighting Kung fu masters. Easily beating all of them. Kung fu is good for light workouts
