I liked PARTS of this movie. -The Art Style. -Kai's weapons and theme. -Po's Dads. -The implication that Oogway was a fricking warlord! Maybe even a tyrant, before the Pandas reformed him! -The ending, showing Po acting as a good teacher! -Some of the jokes. What I disliked: -Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, took backseat to the Panda village, which was almost always the same joke told different ways. -A bunch of new characters that aren't evem focussed on, yet we're supposed to care about. -Po and the Five have maybe 5, 10ish minutes of screentime interacting together, including Tigress. Yes, I'm a Po-Tigress fan. Sue me. -The message feels very much like a watered down retread of the last movie. -Kai is given a goal, with no motivation behind it. What I would have liked to see: -Maybe Kai and Oogway had a similar emotional dynamic to Tai Lung and Shifu. Kai's motivation is to be as great as his "brother," and feels that Oogway changing from a warlord to a peaceful master is the "betrayal" he referred to. -Just a smidge less focus on the Panda Village. Yes, they're cute and cuddly, but we don't need 45 minutes of it. -Po learning HOW to teach. The setup with the pandas is fine, but feels more like a gag than an actual lesson. I don't hate this movie, but 2 is my favourite by a good mile or ten.

@@emperorbelos6835 For some villains like Shen, yeah, he didn't need any motivation because he was just born the way he is and loves power. Kai on the other hand actually showed emotions towards Oogway. THAT'S what makes him a little bit of a letdown. He had no reason to be evil. You're telling me Kai, the person who would die for his best friend Oogway, just randomly decided to start stealing people's chi for no good reason? I also kinda doubt they were Warlords, because then otherwise Oogway wouldn't have any problem with stealing chi and using it to continue conquering the world. They could have easily added in some context about why he turned evil, like perhaps, most likely, Kai saw that he could become stronger than every villain by stealing chi, not seeing that he himself would become a villain if he stole chi. Easy as that.

Agreed, I see people say this ALL the time about reactors. I mean are people really that dumb or what? Are they really saying to themselves "How dare these reactors react on a reaction channel"? I've seen those reactors that "stare blankly at a screen" and that's just boring as hell.

I think their main critic isn‘t that she talks to much, but rather misses out on some important scenes or dialogues because of „talking to much“ and I think it‘s a fair criticism. I think it’s a fair trade though, to get commentary and lose some reactions on some important scenes.

That is not the issue. When people do indeed "talk a lot" it is good to get their opinion, as you suggested, but the issue is that THEY TALK OVER THE MOVIE/SHOW instead of pausing it to speak their mind! Then they are missing on things because of that, they are not focused may even ask stupid questions later on because they didn't pay attention :/

@@eepupm1 That's because Oogway has become the embodiment of Daoism, which stresses passive non-intervention, recognizes that wickedness is part of the natural order of things (yin and yang), and that the cosmos will find a way to restore the natural order of the universe. Daoism is literally the philosophy that teaches one to "go with the flow" of the cosmos, instead of struggling against it. This is what provides the conflict between Oogway and Shifu in the first movie, Shifu struggles against events he has no control over, while Oogway recognizes that the cosmos had a plan all along, and in fact he was free to float off to the spirit realm because the last thing the cosmos meant for him to do he had already done. Shifu's character arc is learning to accept that there are things that are meant to be and to let the cosmos have its way, which is how he finds inner peace.

I think Kai needed a better motivation than, "He suddenly wanted more power cuz greedy." Instead if he had resented the Pandas for not teaching and spreading their knowledge on how to heal with Chi. I mean he walked for days in the snow to heal Oogway because the Pandas are apparently the only ones who know how to heal wounds like that. If he was angry that they kept that skill to themselves it would've made his motivations that much more believable.

The things i liked about this movie: - Crane and Mantis getting screentime - Ping being the awesome dad he is - Seeing Oogway again - Flashback to Lord Shen - Nobody recognisinng Kai The things i hated: - The movie being more “childish” then the first two - Just a bunch of regular pandas defeating Jade Masters - Everyone randomly learning the power of chi. Literally, why?? Even the pigs in the town??? That’s too OP! - Mei Mei - The confusion it caused me about the spirit realm. Does dead people go there? Then why did they show us Tai Lung’s chi but didn’t show Lord Shen’s chi? Where did he go? - The new animation thingy

@RooByrne I mean...it's the "spirit" realm, where spirits go. We were never told about how the other masters died, so I think Shen did in fact go to the spirit realm. But, since he was not as trained of Kung fu warrior as Tai Lung, his chi was negligible compared to others, leading Kai to not even make a pendant off him, because that peacock did not use Kung fu to dominate; he used artillery. And Kai only made pendants off whoever he thought could be used well in battle, although why he didn't release Tai Lung, I don't know.

@@matthewromano2776 Kung Fu Panda 3 is the best in the franchise. In Kung Fu Panda 2 (the favorite of most people), Lord Shen attacked the panda village, but there was nobody to save them. In Kung Fu Panda 3, Kai attacks the village and Po has to save them. Which was the perfect idea for the third installment of this franchise. One thing that people hate about this movie was the “disappointing” villain defeat. But I don’t think people exactly understand it. Po didn’t actually “give” Kai his chi. He used his chi as a weapon just like Kai did. Po had the chi of all the pandas and his own chi. Kai usually takes the masters’ bodies along with the chi, but he didn’t when Po gave his chi to Kai. That’s why it was too much. He took the chi of a whole village pandas and the Kung Fu Panda at a time without their physical forms. Instead of carrying around more chi amulets, he got loaded with the chi of all those pandas. It makes sense, people overthink it. Chi is like a sword if you think about it. Kai used chi as a weapon, but once it was put inside of him, it killed him. Also, at the beginning, Oogway told Kai "The more you take, the less you have." Then what happens? Kai dies from taking too much. A nice detail DreamWorks added in the final battle was that Po fought Kai with what happened to him in Kung Fu Panda and Kung Fu Panda 2. Also, Po was taught kung fu with food. Then he taught the village of pandas with their lifestyles. The whole "turn you into you" thing wasn't a callback to the beginning of the movie, it was a callback to the first Kung Fu Panda movie. Most people like Shen the most, but General Kai is the best villain in my opinion. He may not have been intimidating, but he had really great villain lines. When Shifu said "Oogway, forgive me." Kai held up the chi amulet of Oogway and said "What do you say, Oogway? Do you forgive him?" Also, his music was obviously the best villain music in existence. Not to mention his weapon, fight style, or entrances. Also, the first two villains were chased by Po and the Furious Five. But Kai was the only villain who did the chasing. Instead of Po hunting him down, Kai would find Po and the others no matter where they ran. Po even said “There’s nowhere to run.” This made Kai felt very unstoppable, which was just as good as being intimidating. Tai Lung and Lord Shen are both villains that people feel bad for, but Kai is just a really terrible person. They made Kai very unique. It was refreshing to see a super powerful villain that everyone wanted to see get destroyed. Most people know that Kung Fu Panda 1, 2, and 3 have the themes of body, mind, and spirit. But there’s more to it than that. In Kung Fu Panda, Tai Lung hurt hurt the characters’ bodies by beating them. In Kung Fu Panda 2, Lord Shen hurt hurt Po’s mind by killing his mother. In Kung Fu Panda 3, General Kai hurt hurt the characters’ spirits by defeating Oogway, enslaving most of the characters, and destroying the jade palace. I caught another detail that makes the movie more meaningful. Po is burdened with the responsibility of teaching kung fu and he feels like he’ll never be able to do it. In the first Kung Fu Panda, he was burdened with the responsibility of defeating Tai Lung. He was able to defeat Tai Lung first try, but he failed at teaching. So he feels like teaching is a new Tai Lung for him. That’s why he was playing with his Tai Lung action figure while he was upset. I don't even need to talk about comedy or animation in this movie. Nearly everyone already agrees that comedy, and animation in Kung Fu Panda 3 is better than in first two movies. The music in Kung Fu Panda 3 is easily the best. It has Kai’s theme, and the final battle music is so much better than the music from the other movies. Also, the action is amazing! The scene of Kai beating Tigress, Shifu, Monkey, and Viper had perfect fight choreography. A lot of people don’t like that the Furious Five didn't do much but I think I need to remind people that this movie is in the Kung Fu Panda franchise. Not "The Furious Five" franchise. I was happy seeing the Furious Five get a lot of spotlight in Kung Fu Panda 2, the movie wouldn’t be half as great without that. But I am extremely happy that they didn’t do the same thing for Kung Fu Panda 3. Because in Kung Fu Panda, first Tigress, Monkey, Crane, Viper, and Mantis were defeated, then Shifu was defeated. In Kung Fu Panda 2 they fought alongside Po. In Kung Fu Panda 3, Po had to fight Shifu and all the other masters except Tigress. I don't get how people think this is the worst or second best in the franchise. I think it's better than Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 combined.

Yep.......you are right .. And bro the trilogy is interconnected.... Due to betrayal of oogway , Kai stole the chi which led the pandas to fleed away from mountains to the gong city and some other cities I guess..... Which caused shen's prophecy and that led to po being adopted ..... It in turn led po to become a dragon warrior ......which made up oogway's mind to go back to the spirit realm... There by opening path of po to stop evil like tai lung , shen.... Since po sent tai lung to spirit realm....Kai stole his chi to become more powerful , thus he could steal the chi of oogway thereby return back to mortal realme..... Thus he went back to take the chi of pandas' ......this led to defeating the warlord for once and for alll..... The fight that started between Kai and oogway Due to pandas , also ends Due to pandas...... A great cycle.......

I think this is supposed to be the natural progression of a story. Po is learning about his heritage, and that is important, but it is also important to move forward in life. Where you come from helps bring closure, and that makes this film feel like a slog. However, it is also important to realize that the pandas have lost a part of their culture, so Po has to teach them what it means to have it. While I think it wasn't as well executed, the theme comes full circle to the trilogy as Po goes from Fan, to Student, to Master. While it doesn't crescendo like the others, I feel like it can hold its own by at least enough to wrap up things.

When it comes to Po, I see it as more about culture and ancestry. Sure he is himself, as well as the Dragon Warrior, but, until now, he’s never known what it’s like to live as a panda. As far as his confusion about “who he is”, it’s more about him wanting to incorporate and and be more “whole”, the sum of all of his parts. Think of it like this, a black child born and raised in the US, learns of the history of blacks here and how they came to be. An interest grows, and they delve deeper, eventually tracking their heritage back to a tribe in Africa. Then, when they can, they go there to learn what they can about their people and culture. Finally, armed with this knowledge, their life may be changed forever, as they either decide to try and honor their people and ancestors by incorporating some customs into their life going forward, or they may even decide that it was simply an experience. Either way, a piece they felt or thought was missing is no longer.

I honestly don't agree with some things you say like the "who am i" thing because ueah in the second movie he finds inner peace knowing that it doesn't matters who he is it matters who he chooses to be in the present. But only because he taught that his family and his entire race where killed and he was the only one left, but he still had a hole to be filled because no matter what in his situation he still wonders what's like to be a panda what was his family like and this type of things. And when he discovers that his father and other pandas are still alive he is confused again and the training thing about Po that now on must train the 5 is in the way too. And about the chi thing yeah it is a little forced but still shows that no matter what friends and family will always help him and that he isn't alone because in the first movie he was really lonely but with the time he made many friends. That's all i wanted to say still love your reactions and keep it goin👍🏻😄

@@ANGELINAA Rotten Tomatoes isn't a review metric by themselves. It's a review AGGREGATOR. Kung Fu Panda 3 sitting at 87% doesn't mean that it's an 87/100, or that Kung Fu Panda 2 being an 81% means that it's an 81/100. It means that 87% percent of all critics that reviewed the movie liked it by giving it a positive review (usually a baseline of 6/10). If ten critics review a movie, and all of them rate it 6/10, then that movie would be given a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes since everyone gave it a positive review (this is usally why rather obscure animated movies and shows get such high ratings, like the DCAMU movies or Avatar: The Last Airbender). Conversely, if ten critics review a movie, and eight of them rate it 10/10 but two rate it 3/10, then that movie would be given an 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, even though the overall raw average score of the second movie is much higher than the first (8.6/10 vs 6/10) and therefore could be considered a better movie than the first, even though the TomatoMeter score is lower. This is why it's important to look at the average rating of movies on Rotten Tomatoes instead of just the TomatoMeter for a more accurate look at how critics evaluated the film (you can do this by clicking on the critic TomatoMeter score). I actually don't like Rotten Tomatoes that much for this reason because it's so misleading at first glance and honestly doesn't offer much information of value in my opinion. Who cares how many critics liked a movie? Aren't most people wanting to see an actual rating a movie gets to compare it to other movies rather than a percentage of how many critics liked it? This is why I prefer Metacritic, since it's a website that's a raw review compiler that actually takes the rating each top critic gives a movie and averages it out into an actual score out of 100.

Well I think it's an amazing trilogy, because Po learns in everyone, more about himself: 1. There is no secret ingredient, if you want to make something special you only have to believe that it's special 2. Inner piece your inner thoughts and your body has to become one 3. Who is he: A son of a panda, son of a goose, a student, a teacher, he is all of them, he is the dragon warrior, BTW Po was able to come back from the spirit realm, because his Chi was so strong enough, Kai also returned, because of that and Oogway never came back, because he never tried

The things that are tackled in this movie aren't solved by the second movie's end. All the second movie answered was where Po came from and what happened to him and his family. It said that "your past doesn't define you" and "you decide who you'll be." In this movie, he has to become one with himself to master chi. He can't do that until the end because he doesn't know what it's like being a panda. It would be like if an Asian baby was adopted by a Caucasian family and raised among all Caucasians. They wouldn't need to know what happened to their birth parents but when they grew up, they would most likely want to know about their culture. The part of them that cannot change. The part that without always leaves questions. Not about the past but about who they are. Without it, they would always be disconnected from their roots, which makes up a part of who they are. It's the same with Po. He's disconnected to his culture. His roots. The missing part of him that makes him complete and a master of himself. So that there are no more questions about himself. Anyway, I know that was long winded but that's my 2 cents. Is this movie the best of the trilogy? No, but I like it very much. You're entitled to your own opinion.

Being still and receiving the omens of the universe. Po may have realized who he is, but that doesn't mean there isn't more to realize about oneself. Becoming a teacher, even when one is not ready. Rediscovering a strength and power. It's not the destination, but the journey. @@Yowhat988 You must understand at the beginning that Oogway was evil along with Kai, they were ambitious warlords only interested in conquering. Kai's titles are not earned by being good, and Oogway, if he was good from the beginning, would probably not hang out with him. After being healed by the Pandas, Oogway's moral code completely changed and became good. So no matter how you look at it, Oogway betrayed Kai because they probably wanted to conquer this village sooner or later, but Oogway didn't agree. He also started stealing Chi because he didn't care about others, he just wanted to become stronger, because he wanted to better protect his brother. I'm in your boat as well, Angie. I didn't enjoy Kung Fu Panda 3 as well. Kung Fu Panda 2 was just... amazing. I saw it in theaters when I was 12 and had moved to America, and it was the first movie I saw in theaters that made me cry. It was one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. And I had high expectations for Kung Fu Panda 3, and they fell flat. It was too "funny." Not enough emotion to leave me invested in the story and characters. And you analyzing the movie even further reinforces his point. Po's journey in the first two movies were perfect and complete, and it feels like they're just rehashing the formula because it worked the first time. It didn't feel genuine. So I agree with you. BTW I think a panda as your spirit animal suits you well. Did you know Shifu is a panda too? A Red Panda. Look them up, they're one of the most adorable animals in the world. I Agree When I originally watched this movie I thought they where vague with Kai's back story because they where going to tackle it in a different way later in the movie. Tai Lung had a moment where Shifu apologized to him and you could see what almost looked like a sense of remorse on his face for a moment making it that even though his goals where two-dimensional it gave him a element of empathy that both made him more interesting and made it feel even more right that he had to be taken down when he doubled down. Lord Shen had that moment with Poe on the broken battle ship at the end of KFP2 where he didn't fight him and tried to rationalize the lesson he learned with him as an attempt to give him a chance to look at himself and instead of hearing Poe out he decided to double down. Both of these villains where given moments where it felt like they could have chosen a better path and redeemed themselves and they chose not to making it feel like their defeat was more justified. Kai, the villain who did the most redeemable thing any villain has done ( literally carrying Oogway's unconscious body for days to save his life ) is never given the chance the other villians where given and is treated with the least amount of empathy of any villain. By making him a villain that redeemed himself maybe instead the movie could have been a bit more about him and his journey ( since Poe already supposedly figured himself out in the 2nd ) and I think it could have made him a more memorable villain but instead he's the only weak villain in the Kung Fu Panda movies. I'm an adult who ranted about this a questionable amount of times in my life and half the time to people who didn't care and some of whom never even seen these movies nor ever had any interest in them. ...If only one day they could understand the importance of how Kung Fu Panda 3 was a disappointing third movie in comparison to the first two like me... ...Every night I cry myself to sleep thinking about this before dreaming of a world where everyone knows how great the first two Kung Fu Panda movies are and they all know how much worse the third movie is... ...That's when I wake up and realize its all sadly a dream that will never come true... ...That's when I cry again...

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON IS A BETTER TRILOGY THAN KUNG FU PANDA (Just want to rant because this third film got me really disappointed) The best trilogy for me is the How to Train Your Dragon movies. The story builds up through the movies with specific points for each one. But the Kung Fu Panda movies didn't even try to give the book end to a trilogy. It just rehashed the first and second movie's plot. -Kung Fu Panda is Po discovering the value of himself and that what gives value to a person is whatever they think of themselves. -Kung Fu Panda 2 is Po discovering his past and that someone's past doesn't define their whole life / value as a person. -Kung Fu Panda 3 is basically combining the lessons of the 2 movies which is Po confronting his past through his father (Kung Fu Panda 2) and then teaching the pandas how to be themselves (Kung Fu Panda 1). I think the writers were just getting lazy at this point and thought that taking some keypoints from the previous two movies and mishmashing them to create the third one would be a great idea. Unlike this trilogy, The How to Train Your Dragon trilogy has keypoints that are unique for each film and has an overarching story throughout the trilogy. -How To Train Your Dragon is the story of Hiccup and his friendship with a dragon named Toothless. The main keypoint is his relationship with his father and how his friendship with a dragon affected it. -How To Train Your Dragon 2 builds up on that. Hiccup and his father meet his lost mother and rebuilds their relationship. This only happened because of Hiccup's friendship with Toothless and the influence it brought throughout the village. The main keypoint is him losing his father and how it affects his friendship with Toothless. -How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World gives an ending to the overarching story which is his friendship with Toothless. The main keypoint is Hiccup with the loss of his father has to step up as the chief of the village. As the chief, he tries to save the village and the dragons by moving to the hidden world. But he is forced to pick sides and at the end he chose to let go of the dragons. Hiccup felt like a complex person that grows throughout the trilogy while events happen around him. Po on the other hand felt like a character that doesn't grow at all in his trilogy. Events happen around him and he grows but by the beginning of the next film, he goes back to his previous self. He's like a cup with a hole in it. The movie tries to fill him with water and by the end of the movie the water fills the cup. But because there is a hole, by the next movie he's now empty and the movie then tries to fill him up again with water. Edit: I have a limited vocabulary so I repeated some words "throughout" the rant.

Villain ohh even more so you may have swinging jade blades, a connon and a dragon scroll but we have THE DRAGON WARRIOR. Lol I love the ending to the httyd movie they just got better but dang. Also book ending to dragons? Hiccup left the book open for us to decide which is nice but king fu panda got an actual conclusion not just a coin toss ending. We got a movie about the body po getting over himself not being fit like tigress and still being a badA$$ kung fu fighter but still learning and not a “dragon master” from the first movie like others. The second movie was mind about him learning where he he came from and what happened to his parents and comeing to peace with it. Which is pretty great. And the third was spirit(chi) or what makes you You not just where you came from. People apparently love to miss the obvious and just say oh he’s just learning about his past again which is a no. He already knows his past not he’s discovering what it is to be a panda and not just know you are. All three had some deep moments and some of the most hard hitting quotes from anything I’ve seen. The only good villain from dragons was the dragon queen.

I wouldn't say Kung Fu Panda 3 threw 2 out the window; throughout the previous films, Po was not entirely able to reconcile his identity as "a legendary warrior whose kung fu skills were the stuff of legend" with his identity as the son of who is essentially a glorified NPC, not to mention you called the ending reveal that Po's dad was alive as a cliffhanger. Also, Kai is voiced by J. K. Simmons; see if you recognize anything else he's in.

I was disappointed with KFP3 and haven't rewatched it since unlike the first two movies that I watch on a regular basis. Kai and the continuation of Po's journey are my main issues. It felt so cheap to basically get a rehash of the development he already got in the previous movies while at the same time contradicting the conclusions of his previous development. (Po going "I don't know who am I" again and again really annoyed me. I'm also not a fan of the implication that if Shen had succeeded in wiping out all the pandas, it would be impossible for Po to complete his journey.) And Kai is such a weak villain in comparison to Lord Shen and Tai Lung. I guess he'd be fine in a more generic fantasy action movie but KFP1 and KFP2 especially already set the bar so high regarding villains that it's really not enough. He has nothing going for him beside looking cool and a pretty generic backstory that neither makes much sense nor is it really delved into like those of the previous villains were. I wasn't a fan of the panda village either, firstly because it considerably cheapened the tragedy of the 2nd movie and secondly because it takes up so much screentime, shoves the Furious Five aside for no reason and doesn't provide anything interesting because all the pandas are basically the exact same character simply repeating the same joke over and over again. And then there's the whole mastering chi thing which nobody had to actually master or do anything for because the pandas suddenly just randomly knew how and Po could use it because reasons. I was awestruck when Po achieved inner peace and then used it against Shen in KFP2, I didn't feel a thing throughout the entire finale of KFP3. I guess I'm so critical of this movie because I like the first two so much so any major step down is a huge disappointment. The only things my family and I enjoyed about this movie was (some of) the humour and the pretty visuals. That doesn't make it horrible but it's definitely a bad ending of the series to me. (I don't think you talk too much, hearing your genuine thoughts on stuff that's happening on screen is the whole point.)

In the jade palace fight scene Kai said that Oogway betrayed him. You said that Kai betrayed him and that's true. But a bad guy's perspective is that what he's doing is everyone else's fault, he know that he betrayed Oogway but he denied that and believes that denial.

Concept of the movie was good, but the execution was just o bad. The over cheesy-ness was just distractin from the emotional points as well, villain doesnt feel threatening, stakes where i dont feel anything, dialogue is just , no. Gotta say the music was so goddamn epic ( the dragon warrior theme ). And oogway? Nah man pls let him rest in peace, i dont even get the message the movie is trying to give, "dont have to be anyone but your best"? Idk man its such a shame. I just hope the 4th movie isnt anything like this

I would say this movie is accurately rated. Not to many fans would put this one above the first two films but would still acknowledge it’s a fine film and certainly better then some of the stuff other animation studios are pumping out(Norm of the North for example)

Yah I fully agree with you, the second movie was about him finding himself, and then the third having him constantly doubt who he is made me so frustrated. Obviously the idea is for him to progress from not only the dragon warrior to becoming a teacher, but its done really weirdly. The fact the pandas just happen to use chi because he told them they could be themselves is nice on paper but doesn't really work on screen. Also yeah, Kai's motivation makes 0 sense and I wished they'd made it better, especially considering how good the other villains had been.

I saw many people talking about the motivation that kai lacked as a villian. motivation really!! Do anyone want any kind of motivation to become more and more greedy??. It tells us how one's mind can be ferociously transformed when one becomes more and more greedy. The dangers in having overwhelming desires, these movies are meant to highlight the different psychological aspects of human mind. If this has disappointed you, then you may have failed to notice that. Entertainment wise we all may have different opinions, or from a movie critic's point of view kf2 may be the best, but when it comes to deep understanding and insights kf3 is the best ever upgrade to put an end to this trilogy.

Yall gotta hear me out on general Kai… But I also think I know the motive of why he’s a villain. When oogway was in critical condition Kai dragged him for days to find help. And when he saw the chi that the pandas had, and how they can heal people, he must’ve wanted the chi to himself so he can protect oogway and that’s also why he didn’t see anything wrong with it, and that’s why he thought oogway betrayed him. That’s just how I see it.

I think the reason why Kung Fu Panda 3 is overrated because they used bathos when it comes to the villains. Kai is a cool villain (best character design of them all) but he's not taken seriously by the villagers when he came back in the mortal world. The writing just drop a joke that doesn't mesh well in the scene. This is also the problem with MCU and Star Wars sequels. They don't trust their audience enough to catch our attention if it's not funny. Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 works because they know when to get serious and when to crack a joke. In this movie, they always have jokes all the time and became a parody of its own show. Good thing the characters and the production value are interesting enough to be a great film, but this movie does not live up to its predecessor. That's my two cents!

You look so amazing!! You honestly killed that look more than Ryan Reynolds. Anyway, I definitely agree with you! This movie is good but it’s not as iconic as the first film. They did have some funny moments but yeah.. a couple of jokes didn’t land well. And yeah, it’s weird that the characters didn’t keep what they learned in the previous films. Honestly, all of the characters are kinda.. two dimensional in this film. Though visually speaking, this is probably one of the prettiest of the films. Another thing I liked about the movie is that Po became a young Kung fu master. P.S. that Harry Potter joke.. *chefs kiss* beautiful

Kung Fu Panda 3 is bad because it's too focused on trying to keep us laughing. The only good things about the movie were Kai's appearence/theme and the camera shots. That's it. This movie was such a downgrade compared to Kung Fu Panda 2, and it should have been better! Or at least as good as Kung Fu Panda 2. This movie has a lot of issues, but for me, my biggest issue was that Po's father and the Panda villare were too lazy and silly. I wanted to know, how did these pandas not get tracked down and killed by Lord Shen? How have they hidden from the outside world for all these years? None of that is explained. This movie needed to be more serious, it needed to have a balance of seriousness and comedy.

KFP3 is indeed weaker in plot points. there could have been more explanation about Oogway betraying Kai, the theory about Oogway was evil and reformed to protect his healer pandas is logical. there could also be stronger motivation for Po to return to Panda village, maybe had he or one of the 5 defeated/injured or conveniently Mr Ping injured during Kai's jombies attack, giving his character a more legit story arc to retreat to Panda Village and to learn chi to prepare for a showdown. That can also thicken the clash and Po's hate towards Kai. in the opening scene in Spirit Realm, they could have shoe-horned in Shen being Kai's apprentice, half-supported their common hate for panda, then Kai absorbed Shen so that he has enough chi to take down Oogway and that will really make Kai become a fearsome foe. But if all these happens, this movie will not be that kid-friendly and with lesser (not-so-funny) jokes.
