33:19 This confrontation and speech by Tai Lung hits so damn hard. He was told he was special, then trained to be special, only to have that opportunity seemingly thwarted for no good reason. You can hear the pain in his "Everything I ever did, I did to make you proud!!! Tell me how PROUD you are Shifu! TELL MEEE!!!" Chills.
34:21 Its really heartwarming to see that instead of fully blaming Tai Lung for what he became, Shifu takes full responsibility. Its basically a parent admitting that they failed you instead of putting it all on you.
This movie does so many things right. The characters, their development, the fight choreography, the lessons, how well it depicts ancient China, it's all so great. One part I really like, and often see overlooked, is how after Po lays out his insecurities to Shifu, we see that Tigress heard the whole thing and finally started to soften up and feel sorry for him, and realized he was actually taking Kung Fu seriously, not "treating it like a joke" as she previously stated.
His dad acting like nothing happened is probably the best thing he could've done right there. Typically when someone gets a crazy idea in their head and their parents disapprove, and it doesn't work out like they hoped, the parent tends to rub it in. Him not saying anything to me was him saying, "I may have been right, but I'm not gonna make you feel bad about it."
I still crack up at the acupuncture scene where all those needles go into Po's back, and Po makes the most hilarious face EVER! 🤣 13:00 I also felt that. Ouch. 37:24 🤣 Po is like, "Bro, is that really the best insult you have?"
I remember watching both yours and Nick solo reactions to this film! I absolutely love Kung Fu Panda, it has such a great cast, soundtrack and incredible! Looking forward to you rewatching the other ones Cody!
24:20 He literally just figured out what Oogway meant by letting go of the illusion of control: admitting you don't have all the answers, because no one does.
I love the way that you Cody and Nick reacted at 23:23 is the same way you guys reacted to the crazy fish guy Spongebob and Patrick selling chocolate in the Chocolate with Nuts episode this time with Po running away LMFAO 🤣🖤
Shifu when undoing the nerve attack on Viper and Tigress: *Chiropractor* Shifu when undoing the nerve attack on Mantis and Monkey: *Trying to unlock an iphone*
Man If you listen to Tai Lung's voice in the Latin Spanish version, the scene where he tells Shi Fu that if he is proud, it seems like he is about to cry. That scene 10/10
Kung Fu Panda was a masterpiece. The battle scene of Po and Tai Lung was awesome. I understand why Tai Lung turns evil. Po got the Kung Fu skills thanks to Master Shifu for training him. Po saved the Valley Of Peace from Tai Lung.
Kung Fu Panda may be one of my top 3 favorite DreamWorks franchises. The storytelling is always top-notch and the characterization is great, especially with Po, Shifu, Tigress, and the villains. Po is definitely one of my top 3 favorite DreamWorks protagonists becuse I can relate to him and his personal struggles, particularly in the first movie. I can see a lot of myself in him, both the fun and goofy and the mature and realness 🖤🤍🐼
I haven't watched the 4th Kung Fu Panda yet, but I definitely want to check it out. The first one is a childhood classic for me, but the second one is a masterpiece
5:50 They addressed it. Previous AND for that matter, original DW was, surprise, a dragon. As it happens, that DW went bad, and was defeated by Oogway and his friends. It is essentially premise of the second KP series.
Po's only real superpower is indestructibility. He can feel pain, but it never really does any serious damage to him at all. He fell from a few hundred feet several times and walked it off. He took massive blows from Tai Lung and still kept going. That makes him pretty tough.
Whats insane is the Dragon Scroll is a symbol of projection (the social concept). Tai Lung says "its nothing!" He is seeing himself. And he was great once and then he got landed in jail. He turned out to be exactly what he said: nothing. On the other hand, Po said "its blank." Po hasn't had the chance to see what hes capable of, ever. He uasnt done anything yet. Hes a blank slate. He has yet to become the person he was destined to be. Thats why the scroll is a mirror. Theres nothing special about this scroll. All it is, is you believing that because its considered a "legendary" scroll that it must he special (in some way shape or form).
Love the Kung fun panda movies so much, some of my favourite animated movies ever, the lessons, the characters, the humour, the emotions, the animations, battles and story’s etc. Excited to see the 4th, don’t come out here in UK till next week. I do hear the 4th movie isn’t as good as the over films but it still has good reviews and many said it was a fun time, I have my expectations low (like I usually do anyways) so I’ll probably enjoy it. It’s been a while since the last time I went to the cinema. Love both your reactions as always. 🖤🤍
I really enjoy you and Nick reacting together and very excited for you two to revisit these films. It’s so hilarious and sad and relatable what Po and the others go through to achieve their goals. Can I request both of you react to the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy please? Another dreamworks masterpiece
Well, when comes to how Tigress was able to fight against Tai Lung so well, but not beat him, it makes sense. Tigress and Tai Lung were adopted, raised and trained by the same man (which if you think about it, makes them siblings) so they would have been taught the same techniques which explains why Tigress was the best fighter of the furious five when came to their battle against Tai Lung (In my opinion). But after what happened with Tai Lung, we saw that Shifu held back with Tigress, not just attachment but likely with training too, to prevent history from repeating itself. Meaning that while there were many things they both learned that were exactly same, there were things Tai Lung was taught, that Shifu refused to teach to Tigress out of fear that she would end up like Tai Lung. That would explain when Tai Lung said, “Shifu taught you well, but he didn’t teach you everything.”
hi Cody when you said that you could bring back movies you did in the pass i was wondering you can do... 1. Toy Story 1, 2, 3, & 4 2. Sponge out of Water 3. Sponge on the Run 4. TMNT Mutant Mayhem
I love when you two do reactions together. I also never noticed that Shifu wasn't actually trying to hit Tai Lung in their fight together, so thank you for that observation. It enhances the scene for me.
Tai Lung explaining why he truly hates Shifu, is so interesting. He was lied to for his entire life and told he could be someone special, and trained to the point where it would hurt, for nothing.
Oh man, I love this movie. Quick question Cody if you don’t mind, when will Owl House reactions be coming back since young Sheldon is taking it slow for you a bit
2:13 Hell yeah I'm in for it! This opens an opportunity! Maybe you guys can do a Marvel Marathon re-watch series of videos, you know re-watching all of the MCU movies and TV shows, how about that? I can already imagine the amount of views those could have get!
@aquawarper7328 hey don’t be doing this. Don’t judge people for what they like. They can have their opinion just like you can so please don’t come for people about how they feel about the new movie
I hope you gonna like Kung Fu Panda 4, because ever since it came out, I haven't heard much of good things about it, and the Critics score on Rotten Tomatoes is 72% which makes it a Kung Fu Panda movie with the worst rating out of them all. Even though 72% is not bad, it's not that good either. And to think there are more movies on its way!
Last summer, I actually watched the movies for the first time, and I recently watched them again in preparation for #4. And man, the trilogy is still SO GOOD!!! I won't give my thoughts on #4 until the time comes, but expect a little madness from Tenacious D for the credits. Also, Cody, remember the first time you watched this movie, you called Mantis a grasshopper? I just can't imagine what he'd do if he heard that
If you guys want to, it’d be really cool if you guys rewatched How To Train Your Dragon as well. It and Kung-Fu Panda are the best franchises DreamWorks ever did.
Tai Lung is a warrior who didn't deserve the treatment he got, he grew up thinking he'd become this legendary warrior if he only trained hard enough, and was disciplined enough, to learn everything he could, plus Shifu filled his head with dreams, pushed him in training, promising him that they would all come true if he hones his skills and abilities to the very limits, but when Oogway said NO, Tai Lung's world crumbled because it turns out that he had been struggling for so many years for nothing. In the movie when Po is chosen as the Dragon Warrior, Shifu is very visually upset, and he protests, and you can see the reaction from Tigress, as Tigress sees Shifu fight for her, because it seemed like she was going to be chosen, even though Oogway repeated many times that he was not wrong, and that he did not want to point at Tigress, and all the students as well as Tigress accept that they were not good enough, but Shifu continues to try to convince them that he will get rid of Po, and that probably in time one of them or someone else more worthy will be chosen as a Dragon Warrior. Tai Lung was furious and must have walked to the village because he was completely lost, or he was telling everyone before how he was going to become a Dragon Warrior, and when he didn't become what he said he would become, maybe someone in the village angered him very easily, because he was on the edge of snapping out of anger when he was rejected without an explanation, he just knew he wasn't good enough in Oogway's opinion. Tai Lung was thrown in prison most likely for life, to be forgotten, and Shifu didn't even try to visit him, or do anything, he just hoped he wouldn't have to think about his son, with whom he blew it as a parent and as a master. This shows how Shifu should have raised Tai Lung, like he raised Tigress, to teach them the discipline and self control, to accept their fate if they are not chosen, so that they don't have it planted in their heads that they are chosen, but that they might be chosen which gives them a goal in life, but not the whole purpose of their lives, and since Shifu was much colder with them as a master, he did not let his feelings blind him when he should see the faults and virtues in his students, but Tai Lung was treated as "The Chosen One'' from his childhood, and was forced to train to the point of breaking his bones, with the idea that he will become this great legendary warrior if he becomes as perfect a fighter as possible, and his ego was never discouraged, and from his point of view he is not doing anything wrong, he will surely become that legendary warrior because there is no chance he could fail in his mind, and then he was rejected and doesn't understand why, and Shifu didn't even say a word, let alone try to protest for his son, while he was trying his best for his team of five when none of them were selected. So Tai Lung Later spends twenty years in prison, immobilized, he finds out that someone is good enough, and then later he finds that person who is good enough for Oogway, but is not trained, and disciplined nowhere near the level of Tai Lung, so Tai Lung is even more disappointed by seeing what was chosen instead of him. Now we don't know if Tai Lung rested at all on the way to the valley, but it seemed that he didn't, and at the end of the fight when he took the scroll and found out that what he was looking for was not written on some paper as he was led to believe, his tiredness finally caught up with him, and Po used his fat to win literally, and used this crazy move which he did not deserve, what's worse, there is no explanation or hint as to why he would know how to do this, he just realized how the move works (That's what I dislike most about the movie of all things). So Po kills this tortured warrior in the end, and if you ask me, Tai Lung did not deserve such treatment, and I believe he could of gone in a better direction if anyone cared, and gave him an actual chance, but NO everything revolves around Po.
In answer to your question, I don't usually watch review or re-watch videos. I much prefer to see someone's best impression of a legitimate first viewing.
I’ve said this in many reactions but I’ll say it again, Kung Fu Panda sounds like the dumbest concept one can think of, but the great characters, awesome action, gorgeous animation, and a wonderful message turns it into something great!
