Funny. Ted was my instructor at Woolsey’s Downy studio. I then taught at the Downy studio and Ted was at Frank’s Huntington Beach studio. Ted went to Jimmy’s and I soon followed. I had an afternoon class at Ted’s Westminster studio for a few months after I left Frank’s. I left California shortly after that. I went back once maybe 45 years ago (seems like yesterday) checked in with Ted and Hulsey. Was interesting times back in the day.

I studied under Ted for a year back in the late 80s at his Westminster location. I ran into a few years after I quit he told me he had to move to Huntington Beach because of all Gang Bangers. My experience with Ted is he is a really nice guy who knows his art. Glad to see he still is in business.

My dad studied under Master Woo in the 70s and prob knew Master Raul Ries. When I was put into martial arts, I took what my father taught me but also my own street fighting martial art. Moo Yea Do taekwondo and Karate-do Ryobu-Kai are my main studies. My dad always told me too a mantra,like you said, you can take my life, but you cannot take my confidence. It’s always stuck with me.

That is why MMA schools never learn techniques, they only spar, super hard core, all the time.

Another dime a dozen m0®0n especially nowadays with all of your soft ❄️ SJWeenie lifestyles and agendas. Sickening to be honest. This country will fall in the next 10 years due to you people!

I practice this stuff everyday. I’m 35 and been doing martial arts for 30 years now. I live in Anaheim and most people that fight me don’t do anything except get their arms broken from the tension. Doing Katas isn’t fighting with no resistance, its fighting so you don’t hurt your sparring partner. If you were a real martial artist you’d get it. Other wise that’s how you get hurt.

The first time I met Ted Sais I was 21. Me and my Dad walked in his studio to find a gentleman standing on his head, with a black cat walking around! He greeted us (after he stood upright) with a smile and a handshake. My father had been studying since the 70s, with a guy named Jim Lipis, and later on with Dave Carter. I swear each master I studied under showed a different aspect of the art, it was awesome. Like the 36 CHAMBERS of kung fu I swear to God! 🔥👊🔥

My word no mention of Old San Soo and the Military , where it really Came from.
@martyreeder3797
@martyreeder3797 Год назад
I'm not sure what you are getting here? Yes, it really came from training real combat. If you have the five manuals you will know that the dialogue read on screen is from there. She is just reading the manual, created by Jimmy H. Woo with Carl Lorenzen.

Go read up on Jimmy Woo. Old San soo? He was the master that brought deadly kung fu to America. There was no San soo without master woo.

I remember Ted Sias. My father Lee Townsend would take us kids to his school. We learned the basics. I remember a young man going to China to teach English and continue his training. He was a black belt but close to mater level. I remember my dad doing the "Sunrise" In the backyard after a long day at work. Can you do a video showing the Sunrise?

For Kung Fu San Soo to be complete it has to have competitions and recorded evidence of it being successful against others who are not familiar with Kung Fu San Soo.

As previously stated, opinions vary. However, remember San Soo is based on the element of surprise.

No, you're an (you know what you are and it isn't nice) to think everything sport is legitimate. You do know there's a system that has studied the movements possible by every human and could manipulate that anytime to beat an adversary. You're just the typical jock that I saw get beat up by street thugs who grew up mean and not bound to rules back in the late 80s and 90s growing up. I hope someday you meet one of these people to open your eyes but of course, you'll most likely not see anything anyways. 😉

@@martyreeder3797 It's not an opinion tho, it's a fact. The most effective martial arts in the world are the ones that have competitions, because then you're going up against people who are either just as knowledgable, more or less knowledgable all while trying to defeat you. Doing scenarios alone does very little as no one on the street is gonna be as cooperative. And as far as the element of surprise being in effect the idea is questioning whether those surprise attacks even work on opponents or not. Kung Fu San Soo techniques like the dirty ones have proven to not be as effective but then you can't solve any kinks because you tend to go up against cooperative students/ classmates daily. If you guys were to spar and actually try and hurt eachother you'd learn better that way. Personal experience, I went up against a Kung Fu San Soo Brown Belt (idk how that rank stacks up) but he was not nearly as athletic as me as he moved very slow, the defense and resistance he had was horrible and as a final attempt he tried biting me causing him to tap out because I just pushed into his teeth. Why did I perform better? Because daily I go up against opponents that wanna beat me as much I want to beat them on top of that we do alot stamina training, something that doesn't seem to implemented in San Soo and competitions make you become the very best at what you do. Hope this helps you see that my statement was not at all an opinion. San Soo is not a complete martial art without competition whether it be within the dojo or outside the dojo.

@@walkingcorpse1224 Your personal observations are welcome here. Notice, I am one of few that do not block comments. It's an age old discussion. If you like to fight everyday maybe you should go find a war somewhere. I personally love what I do and I love helping people and preserving an ancient art. To each their own...

You can't compete in San Soo, You would have to restrict certain movements, to restrict those movements is not fighting San Soo.

I have always wondered why the name ‘San Soo’ as that is not even a Chinese term. It’s a Korean term for ‘mountain river’. Why not call it what it is called in China, which is either ‘San Shou’ or ‘Wujaiquan’ (The 5 Family Fist). And also, why karate gi and karate belts for uniform? Those are not Chinese in origin. And for the record, I am asking only to be informed, not to start an internet fight. Thank you, in advance.

Good questions. Answer: That's just how it happened. Choy Li Ho Fut Hung Ga was it's original name, but when Jimmy started teaching Americans, he just called it San Soo. His first studio actually said "Karate Kung Fu" because no one knew what Kung Fu was at the time. The karate gis were all that were easily available at the time and it all just became what it is. Thanks for asking.

That’s what you say til you get a foot to the balls or grappling shredding your face, or an elbow to the face, or a back hand fist to the jaw. Street fights have no rules. And you should be conscious of that fact.
