Yo guys, I am the guy in the grey & black jacket that Benedikt (Key to Kung Fu) has sparred against in this video and a student of his. I have only practiced ITF Taekwon-Do for about 1,5 years and I have stopped training regularly for also 1,5 years (until now) because I had to focus on my studies. So in this video you will see Benedikt and me spar for the first time in a very very long time. Both of us were holding back, Bendikt more so, as he is way more experienced and skilled than I. Therefore I avoided hitting him with kicks to the head and he didnt't employ any too explosive or powerful takedowns or throws that can be found in the forms of praying mantis kung fu, as we had no protective gear and were also fighting on the street. I found some chances to apply techniques from the only Tang Lang form that I know, which is the Taolu "Bai Yuan Cu Dong" (white ape leaves the cave). If I am not mistaken, Benedikt has applied a lot of throws, trips and takedowns from the famous "Beng Bu Quan" form successfully against me. I made some direct comparison clips of the movements from the form (that I recognized) and the real life combat application during our sparring match and posted them on Instagram. You can see them here: instagram.com/p/B9Egr6rCYBy/ During our match I found it very hard to use boxing technique, as Benedikt was constantly trapping and controlling my arms, so that I was unable to strike him with my hands. Right after I used a kicking combination, Benedikt would close the gap and then when we get into grappling range, I am basically finished, as both modern and traditional Taekwon-Do does not include a whole lot of grappling or at least I am not well versed in grappling and wrestling. Amazing would love to see more of this! As someone who has practised a lot of boxing, mma and so on this is really interesting stuff to see things like trapping actually being used in sparring with a non compliant opponent.

Interesting, obviously light contact, but it always shows something when the techniques are educated in a dynamic improvisational context, the level of pressure can always be increased eventually. Cool seeing it play out in an urban environment as well.
Hey Michael thank you for your comment! That was the first sparring for us in a long time... Everything what you can see there is straight from understanding, only from the substance^^ I visited my kung fu student Eddie in Munich and we only had the street for sparring. So cause we hadn't had any protection with us we decided to do it only in a light way

Bitte, bitte macht doch mehr Videos. Ich finde die Videos echt klasse, vor allem das Kung Fu Weapon Sparring Spear Video. Videos zu modernen Wu shu formen giebt es viel zu viele und das Sparring Spear Video ist, wie ich finde, der perfekte Ansatz um zu zeigen wie es aussehen kann. Bitte macht diese art Videos Regelmäßiger.

Tai Chi, Mantis Kung fu, Bagua, Longfist... you can find in this video techniques from these styles. Kung fu styles work absolutely the same. Entrance technique, transition technique, throws and chain wrestling... So you can use what you want
@@KeytoKungFu I trained Wing Chun for about one year, but I haven't do that for a long time because of the lack of time, and I only have some basic knowledge about different styles
The bald one is the protagonist doing the attacking and dominating,the other fighters is either instructed to lose or is simply an inferior fighter regardless of style or skill,marginally realistic,not convincing. All it shows is the better trained and prepared will win,everytime regardless of style.

The point is if i was being that badly beaten ,i would quit,it is just a showcase of the other guys skills,someone sent me a link of this as realistic fighting,which it is not,it is just a simulated as all the others ,i have seen real fighting against various styles on bbc docos,and it looks far more bloody and and chaotic and likely to make impressionable people think twice,real fighting is an ugly messy business. You should not pass of psuedo sparring as real combat,impressionable minds get the wrong idea of just how final and sometimes fatal street fighting is,that is my point,so hahahaha to you too,smart alec.

Sparring is a just a simulation where you are playing around with the stuff one learned to develop more skill. Sometimes it goes a little bit more fast and intense, sometimes you are a bit way more fair, for example when I threw Eddie away and in the beginning of the video or in the end when I was "waiting" a little bit that Edmund could react. Or when Edmund does not kick the head from the shoulders. Sparring is a training situation where the training partner fights back and is not too compliant. Anyway how you spar, in the end you just have to gain some more knowledge, skill and feeling for your techniques but not injuries. I guess the discussion is ended at this point. I cannot take keyboard warriors for real who havent uploaded a single sparring video by themselfes. Maybe you should do that then.
@@nhoj277 ? It was supposed to be light sparring anyways. Nobody said it was a real fight. The video is literally called "sparring" and not "real fight".
