Explosive power vs long distance sprint. It is kinda a thing in football believe it or not!

look up gareth bale's sprint, it was pretty similar to chigiri's move. he kick the ball so far to run towards it, basically challenging defender "let's race bro". and since he's the one who kickstart the ball, he get initial start and better chance to respond to it, with enough velocity and speed he reach the ball first.

It's acceleration vs top speed. Zentetsu acceleration is superior vs Chigiri which means for a few seconds Zentetsu can reach his top speed faster than Chigiri. However, Chigiri has a higher top speed than Zentetsu but he needs more time to reach his top speed. So the effect is at first few seconds, Zentetsu is quicker than Chigiri but in the long run, once Chigiri has reached his top speed, he can overcome Zentetsu.

If you want a good comparison watch some of the Usain Bolts record runs and his gold medal runs - there are alot of guys that are faster than him in lets say first 20-30 metres but Bolt still takes the victory because he has much better top speed than the other guys. Thats why his best event is 200m one because in that the top speed is even more important than the explosive power at the first 30 metres.
