For the first time in four years, a big festival was held in Fuchu City, Tokyo, where I live.
[Kurayami Festival]
This festival has a long history as an annual festival of Okunitama Shrine, and is said to have started more than 1,000 years ago, and has been designated as an intangible folk cultural asset by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
The Kokufu of Musashi Province (a political base similar to the present-day Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building) was located in Fuchu, and since then it has been held as the Kokufu Festival.
Okunitama Shrine is said to have been built more than 1900 years ago, and was called "Rokushomiya" because it enshrined the deities of six shrines in Musashi Province.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could feel the atmosphere of holding a big festival after a long absence.
