I've been looking at this watercolours because I love kuretake's real brush pens and I'm tempted to buy a watercolour set and now thanks to this video, I want them even more!
I’m so happy to find you. My very first watercolor class probably 5 or 6 years ago, was a class you taught on Craftsy. Changed my life. FYI the company’s website says the Art Nouveau set was inspired by “art nouveau” tastes in 19-20th century when Kuretake was founded.
I’m so happy with myself for getting these on Amazon the first day they hit the site! It was $35.99 and totally worth the price. This set of colors is so well put together, whoever had the assignment to design should get a raise! I LOVE THEM! Then again, I love all my Kuretake paints, but this takes the cake.
@@kateriewing I have, indeed heard of it! I have a few sets on my wish list. Probably will get some with some tax return money. If I am so fortunate! Lol.
*just did a quick search on these paints to see if they were available in open stock which they are from multiple sources which is very exciting since i'm very fond of experimenting with pigments, shades and inks to see what combinations combine in the most unusual ways so safe to say i'll be adding many of these paints to my kit at some point*
Thank you so much for the way that you review these paints. I so much appreciate your going in and giving us a detailed description of how each color looks and feels. I'm currently working through your book, watercolor is for everyone, and I have begun using this lovely set with the book. Because of the way the colors are coordinated in this set you can easily find six colors that work together well. Then add the gold from the Kuretake Starry colors and that's all you need! I especially appreciate how aesthetically pleasing the set is both in its presentation and in its colors. That goes beautifully with your book because it makes the painting process so beautiful. Also: Does anyone out there knows what the Japanese names are, or where we could find the Romaji names? I wear reading glasses and I can't make out the Hiragana well enough to go to a translation site. In my small Kissho set, they use traditional Japanese color names which are often so lovely and lyrical that it really adds to the painting experience.
I live in STL so I guess I’m going to be going back to the art store again. I was at STL Art Supply last weekend but I totally overlooked them. I bought a Rembrandt set because I had never tried that brand(the jury is still out) and a few DS colors. You can never have enough watercolor options. Right? Say yes and justify my obsession.
I still can't find the Art Nouveau set anywhere in the UK. I can quite understand why they have sold out, but I'm really wanting them. I have a set of Kuretati Gansai Tambi in I think a 24 set, and I love them, but would love a set of Art Nouveau! Lovely video, thanks so much.
These really are stunning colours! Similarly to another, very wise, commenter, I really ought to become better acquainted with the paint I have now before I succumb to the lure of these 😂 so it's just as well they're hard to come by. Thank you for sharing them with us!
Amazon does not seem overpriced to me, but then I did not find the art nouveau set, everything is not inexpensive either. I'd love to see some of your painting done with these paints. Like your demo of the paint properties. Thanks for sharing.
Kateri, I enjoyed this review, but my search for prices as of Jan. 10, 2023, was quite different from yours. I found Amazon to be less expensive than St. Louis Art Supply. I rushed to that website after you mentioned it, but Amazon was less expensive. Of course, they might have had things on sale for Christmas that are now not on sale.
Amazon’s prices can change daily. They didn’t even have this set for weeks. I had a coupon and the Black Friday sale at St Louis when I bought the larger set. Was a great deal! I always check many websites to see where the best price is.
*have you ever experimented the shading qualities of fountain pen inks?...there are so many stunningly beautiful inks to choose from Goulet Pens has nearly 800 inks and you can buy/obtain samples very reasonably...site is something of a rabbit hole once there...just sayin'*
That was my experience, too. 😢 Oh, well. Something to look forward to next year, perhaps. For me, it's probably more important to work with the lovely paints I have than to get excited about the next new thing, which is very easy for me to do. 😉😏

@@Everyoneisanartist776 yes! Taste is subjective. What we find beautiful and appealing is subjective. Swatching colours from a pre-selected palette is just that-swatching colours. Whether we like them or not is up to each individual. Often they look so different swatched on paper that what we are shown on a retail site. I love that people take the time to swatch them and share. You have a glorious evening too! 😀
