I wish they could've Afded on a plot Twist or a secret plot to the story,where there are additional members of the GOM who were never mentioned, who comes back for revenge or come to take the Title of the GOM. Maybe another foreign team comes to challenge them, a team much more superior then the Jabberwocks, A team that's very similar to the GOM, who doesn't use team effort and etc.

Akashi's behind-the-back elbow pass and setup of plays is exactly like Jason Williams. Him and Nash are both starters and not the sixth man. They are the star of their team. Kuroko is not the star of the team. Manu is a star too but he was known to be a supporting shadow of Tim Duncan, just like Kuroko is to Kagami. I guess you could say Parker and Manu both have some qualities of Kuroko, supporting the light of the team.
From your references I can definitely say you are someone who started following basketball late 2000s because you did not get all the references. You got kagami right with jordan. Boston's Midorima is defenitely Larry Bird being a tall 3 point shooter who is a good ball handler and passer with unlimited range. Akashi on the Lakers is not Kobe... They definitely are referencing to Magic Johnson because of Johnsons ability to play the point unlimitted court vision and the ability to see the plays that come ahead of time and if needed play all positions and become a one man wrecking machine with extremely high IQ. Asuchi of Phoenix is a reference to Charles Barkley. A big man who is great in the post who is known in the nba to be someone who was overweight and loves to eat all the time. Next is Riota Kise of GSW. Given that kise's ability is to copy, his reference is clearly a combination of GSW greats at all positions, the shooting and guard defense of Curry and Thompson, the scoring ability of a big guard or forward like a Durant and Rick Barry and be unstoppable as a big man in Wilt Chamberlain. Asuchi is supposed to be Shaq. A big center who is supremely talented and strong, but is the definition of not living up to his potential because of laziness off the court and being constantly overweight. Chuck isn't really "big" and he wasn't a center. The Suns choice is a bit strange but they couldn't have gone Lakers and he wasn't the main dude in Miami.

boosted kappa SPOILER ALERT!!!! Actually, from what heard from people in Japan who watch the movie, the ending to the movie is drastically different from the manga. Apperantly at the end of the movie, after they defeated the Jabberwock, Kagami makes an important annoncement. He decides that he's going back to the United States, because he was recruited by a strong team, and pursue his dreams of becoming an NBA player. So yeah in a sense the mangaka, Fujimaki, did ended the series with a IMPLIED ending that Kagami was going to end up in the NBA.

I would kise on the warriors isnt cause of the type of player he is but rather cause he is uprising star like how the warriors became a super team and overcame lebron. John Stockton was so unnoticed that when the Dream Team was getting paparazzi and hounded during the Olympics, Stockton walked off the bus and only one lady asked for his picture. They all thought he was a normal guy; it is a perfect match for Kuroko. (although Kuroko's play-style is very SA Spurs) I think murasakibara is on the Suns for Shaq, but i would put him on the Heat for the Championship he won there. I wouldn't make him a Laker so that each team gets only one member. I agree Midorima should be on the celtics. I think hair color plays a big part so this keeps the scheme going pretty well, as well as the similarities between Ray Allen and Larry Bird with Midorima. Aomine on the Magic is great! It keeps the color scheme as well as matches greatly with Tracy McGrady (possibly Penny Hardaway but McGrady is better) Kagami on the Bulls as Jordan is phenomenal. Kise should be a laker because just how Kobe copied Jordan Kise copies others as well as his hair being yellow matches with the Lakers.
not accurate at all, akashi is john stockton/ magic johnson kuroko is rajon rondo with his misdirection. when rakuzan played against shutoku shutokus pg (forget name) claimed that akashi had skill as a pg but nothing out of the ordinary like the other generation of miracles, he didnt think akashi stood out until the second half o the game when he started using his emperor eye
rondo uses lots of feints and fake passes to confuse defenders and get easy shots for himself and his teammates, rondo also was supported by the big 3 when he was in boston kuroko is easily rondo

Although likely not the intention, the commonly represented mentality of some of those teams are pretty well matched with the players. Celtics = workman-like, blue-coller, getting things done, hard working Lakers = dominant force, the kings of the basketball world, commonly represented as the big bad guy Warriors = Young upstart, the new hotness, very flashy and pleasing to watch Spurs = as described in the video, could also add how they're never the focus and incredibly reliable. Perfect match tbh Cavs I don't really see as a reference to the team as just LeBron, who's strong, fast, capable of amazing athletic plays, was very good and spotted at a young age (Aomine was one of the first to be dominant in the generation), defined by his rivalries (Kobe, big 3 Celtics, Spurs and now the Warriors) Bulls it's hard to see it as anything but a Jordan reference given the athleticism, being supported by an underappreciated teammate that you're tied to (Pippin) and having a very competitive, never lose attitude. I could say the Bulls are defined as a very emotionally driven franchise given the Jordan era Bulls and the amount of drama that they've generated over the years post-Jordan, but that's a bit of a stretch, Phoenix = idk is it a Barkley reference even though he was short as a center? I can't see A'mare because he was never great defensively. The Heat with Shaq (seeing as the Lakers are taken and those are the two teams people remember him on) or the Rockets with Yao Ming or Mutombo might have been a better fit. A team that might fit him is the Pistons, a team that's often been defensive focused and an unlikeable attitude towards basketball (bad boy pistons)

honestly, i think ray allen fits midorima more. simply because ray allen is a better 3 point shooter than curry, ray allen is a 100% future hall-of-famer.
Midorima is more a catch and shoot guy with length and good defending, and he is absolute clutch. He fits perfect on the Celtics who had two of the best 3p shooters of all time with Bird and Ray Allen. u could also throw KG into the mix. Kise as Westbrook? Never. Jordan? Never ever. Akashi is more CP3, a perfect floor general and traditional point guard who can score but also looks for the openn man. Kyrie is a score first point guard.

With an attitude. Akashi is Allen Iverson. Murasakibara can either be Wilt or Shaq depending on which era is one's preference. But physique and dominance I personally see Shaq through him. Kagami I understand what they're saying and why they went with Jordan, cause Jordan and Kagami are goats and they both play both ends of the court great. Jordan having MVPs, Scoring titles and Defensive titles, but everyone can see LeBron in Kagami. His physique and power and even playing style leans more towards LeBron vs Jordan. I think that they're just paying homage with this one.

Gonna do this breakdown in order of what I think they aimed for and why, and what would be a better representation of each character. I'm pretty sure that they aimed each character at a legend rather than recent players since that makes more sense marketing wise and a few character traits that each of them possesses is somewhat a giveaway. Kagami - Chicago Bulls --> comparison given: Michael Jordan, more than likely this is what they aimed for given his airwalk and jumping are his key notes as well as an insane competitive streak which in Jordan himself was often considered his greatest asset. I think this does Jordan a disservice as he was a whole lot more than just a jumper and Kagami never acquired a properly rounded game so I would rather compare him to Vince Carter the greatest Dunker of all time. But seeing as they seem to be targeting legends, this would be Jordan. Midorima - Boston Celtics --> Comparison given: Ray Allen, I actually disagree a lot here, like stated earlier, pretty sure they aimed at legends, so this is Bird all the way. Whilst sure, Bird's range was not this ridiculously unlimited (but then again, noone's is. Johnson, it could be argued, is the best point guard in Spurs history. He is their all-time leader in assists. But Johnson’s size sometimes hurt the Spurs as bigger players would try to post him up. Often overlooked for being undersized he became a surprisingly effective stealer on defense. Problem here is that Avery is by no means a ""Legend"" per se but then Kuroko is designed to be the outlier of the generation of miracles so it could still make sense that he would be so as well in the legend comparison department. Murasakibara - Phoenix Suns --> Comparison given: Tyson Chandler, not a bad comparison by any means, but I think this one is probably Charles Barkley. Personality wise it makes the most sense as Barkley was pretty famous for his sweet tooth and lethargic seeming attitude (beneath which beat the heart of a man who is tsundere as all be damned but with a love for the game he often tries to hide) everything about his personality screams Charles Barkley, but his designation as a super tall center is the only thing kind of not fitting. Charles was tall sure, but played power forward not center, but I think we can let that slide. Kisei - Golden State Warriors --> Comparison given: none/Kobe? I actually agree that THIS should be Kobe it would make the most sense but I suppose they allready had someone on the lakers that HAD to be there (Akashi being Magic Johnson) so they might aim this at Chris Mullen but the comparison is kind of a stretch. I suppose it could be that Chris came into the NBA with a ton of potential in every category and could kind of literally do it all, he was a good shooter, drove to the hoop with great skill, good coordination and anticipation, good rebounder, decent defender etc etc, only limitation being that his body would hold him back from being on the round table of the all time greats. His body wasn't super athletic as the trend in basketball was and it on top of limiting his minutes, limited his overall potential ceiling. if he had been born an athletic freak, he could've rivaled the best of all time. Aomine -Cleveland Cavs --> Comparison given: Lebron James, Sadly I do agree this is most likely true, but I won't say that it's accurate, I feel this could've been better if this were handed to the Sixers and have it be Allen "We talkin bout practice" Iverson. That attitude, the handles, the street ball specialty, the zone, everything screams Allen Iverson to me, heck even on the Cavs this would be more Kyrie than Lebron, but I suppose Lebron and Jordan makes more sense than Vince Carter and Allen Iverson for the two main characters :/ neither makes complete sense but since it's legends I'd have to go with King James. Personal opinion time: the non legend choices. Kagami -> Vince Carter Midorima -> Glen Rice Akashi -> Magic Johnson, simply put: no one else fits. Midorima being on the Celts makes sense because 1.) Green 2.) Shamrocks. There mascot is covered in shamrocks aka lucky charms. There's even a small shamrock on the waistband of their shorts! So its a perfect fit for luck obsessed b-ball player! I kind of wish other characters besides Himura, Kagami, & the GOM got NBA jerseys, like Teppei Kiyoshi.
The more I think about it, Akashi is the perfect Kobe. The split personality thing he has and how Kobe transforms into the Mamba on the court and his unhealthy competitiveness to just NOT lose. You guys gotta realize Kobe's legacy isn't defined by copying Jordan. Kobe is Kobe, the 5x champ, 9x first team all defence, 4x all star MVP, 81 points, and the 3rd leading scorer in the NBA.
