It is exciting, without wanting to be excited. This entire war is very sad, very preventable and very provoked by the profiteers on the other side of the atlantic with their money peddling schemes. Can something be said about the nature of the Ukrainian troops involved in the Kursk offensive? Are they ultranationalists, conscripts, mercenaries? Things are becoming more clear now. What I am reading on various reliable Telegram channels is that Ukrainians used fast mobile reconnaissance units that drove deep inside Kursk, went into multiple villages/towns without fighting, which initially created panic that Ukrainians were everywhere. But when Russian forces arrived, they found there were actually no Ukrainians - it's the same unit of Ukrainians that moved around different places probing. The maximum extent shown on the map in yellow in this video is not an actual Ukrainian line - as Wyatt carefully explained. It's just how far Ukrainians were spotted. Where there was fighting, like in Kerenevo, the Ukrainians were defeated and they fell back. The blue area is where Ukraine's slower moving units and reinforcements are currently trying to set up defensive positions. That's a better representation where the front line might be in the next few days.

Do not believe anything your MoD is saying. The Russian army has NOTHING to seriously oppose the UAF advance in Kursk oblast at the moment. No prepared positions (the ones that were prepared are already in Ukrainian hands), no mine fields, very little artillery, nothing but a few inexperienced and lightly-armed conscript forces... who quickly surrender to better enjoy some vacations in Ukraine! Sure, they will bring some serious reinforcement from elsewhere on the front, but a) it will leave holes there, and b) it will take several more days... time enough for the UAF to dig in (they have already started doing so), build defensive positions on the high-grounds that they have liberated... and be ready for the improvised assaults that will come! Defending on Russian soil will be a welcome change for them, on't you think? Taking the average advance speed of advance of the russian army in the last few months (one tenth a snail speed on average... literally!), the UAF are within Russia for a few months at least! But you are correct on one point: the Poo-tin regime is one hell of a circus!

Ukraine needed a moral boost, and this would give them some of that. But i doubt they can force Russia to send troops from other sides to Kursk, since they gonna use this event to escalate the conflict, and expand their numbers in Ukraine.

This is absurd Whatt. How can the Ukraine launch a credible sustainable invasion of Russia without significant or existant air support or logistical support either earlier or now? Particularly as a large scale offense required far more significant logistical support than running a defense in men (which requires at least a 3:1 advantage), weapons and supplies.
I imagina the border just wasn't properly defended, and the attacking troops were actually god (and lucky that Russia didn't respond in time), but I don't see how this is sustainable. I am curious what makes you think it is sustainable?

6:56 RUS does not defend their borders because the river systems are complex regardless of their width and depth. RUS river systems are itself natural obstacles. One wrong move being at the wrong place and at the wrong time can get troops surrounded and pinned between river systems from artillery barrage without supply line over the river system and no bridge to fall back. RUS borders are endless. There is no way to take over a long border and expect to hold for a long time. That is why UKR incursion into RUS territory is ill-fated. It takes a week to mobilize or re-allocate RUS troops. Meanwhile, Akhmat Chechen special troops are deployed to slow down the spread of UKR push. "Spats batz" are mostly operating inside UKR. I bet another round of partial mobilization of RUS reserve troops are occurring. Meanwhile, Kursk countryside will be waste-land. This also rallys RUS troops. Once RUS partial mobilization is complete, RUS Sumy frontline bufferzone will be established with trench systems similar to Kharkiv frontline. One thing I do not understand is why Putler is acting surprised and nervous about UKR incursion into Kursk. Due to changing battle plans? Or, due to political backfire? Or due to another round mobilization becoming unpopular? Or, extending this war beyond necessity?
The fact that the Ukrainians were and are still quiet about this offensive and that they stopped announcing their offensives in advance and giving informations about their plans or the number of the troops involved, means that they are learning from their mistakes! Objective speaking the offensive was a success until now and if they keep this tempo it can be the end for the Putin regime!
